I'll make a bet with anyone.... Stop reading the forums for two weeks completely and just play... You'll love the game....
Howmuch are you willing to bet?
No kidding.....Already did that, didn't work sadley.
Same, been there, done that, ain't going back. Actually gave it four weeks. SWTOR is the reason why I won't be buying TSW. As intriguing as it sounds I'm not going to throw away money again for a "hopeful" MMO. DDO, Neverwinter, and GW2 will be the MMOs that will have my attention now and various single player games. P2P MMOs I'm done with.
Right there with ya.
Damn that sucks. I'm not going to agree or disagree with you guys when it comes to SW:TOR . I have many of my own thoughts on what TOR is and how it relates to MMORPG's. I only had to reply because I hope Star Wars doesn't spoil your taste for The Secret World.
They both are formulated around strong story but I'm getting a different sense of what TSW is doing. It feels a good bit more social and less grindy. I don't get the feeling that we'll be seeing "green" and "red" doors in the places we go to or be surrounded by half a dozen players (and that's being generous) to head through some portal to instant-ly be left in a shallow box of npcs and YOU.
Furthermore with the story element TSW is definately not SW:TOR. If TOR is supposed to be dark in any fashion even with it's moral choices of the Jedi and Sith it is not on the same level as Secret World. TSW is providing darker overlay to everything I feel and hopefully will lean to a more mature audiance.
The biggest difference I'm getting from TSW at this time is most likely the combat system and not having the level grind. No more specific point builds; outside of the decks which are sort of the same thing, but not so much to the point of alotting said point here and said point there.
I don't know, these are just a few of the things that seperate the two games for me. I never really intended on playing SW:TOR but I've had my eyes on TSW for a few years and I can see clear and defined differences between the two and only short similarities in how they are doing the story element.
*Shrug*
I just don't want people to miss out on a game that has good anticipation because of something like SW:TOR. Nothing against Bioware but please don't compare the two. It's like trying to compare Freelancer and EVE Online.
Oh you wait...there'll be a hella storm of anti-TSW posts once it launches. It's the only given in this industry these days: that there will be outlandishly vocal haters determined to convince you and everyone else, NOT to play.
Well, TSW already has one major thing going against it.... the history of Funcom with game launches. Two of the worst MMORPG launches in history (AO and AoC) came from their company.
I will never pay for another EA/Bioware game (or subscription) ever again.. Let me know when it goes Free-To-Play. It is not worth my money at the moment. (I was suckered into buying 2 copies of this and subs because I foolishly believed the hype)
Cheers
[Mod Edit]
LOL! You can't possibly be blaming BiowarEA for your choice to buy 2 copies and subs. Hell, you even had 30 days to CANCEL your sub if you wanted...so there's no possible chance what you're saying is accurate.
So far the changes they have been made are good. My only bitch is are those that exploited the pvp system and became ultra-powerful to soon.
have you played a match against a team of these pvp exploiters you know when they farm you for kills with the score is 5-0 in hut ball. It is really something not to be able to damage them at all.
That is my only gripe.
I've always wondered why anyone would bother to farm kills in TOR pvp after 25..since..it's not like WoW where you get rewarded for being a dick.
You don't get extra medals, or extra valor/commendations for facerolling people for 5 minutes.
I think this is just the mentality from wow still there, hopefully eventually the lack of reward for being an ass like that will stop it. It was one thing I really liked about TOR pvp, that you got rewarded based on playing the warzone, not farming kills (Though the medal system is still fairly broken, and needs to be fixed, especially with cap/defense points)
The fellow in that video looked like he was the one who pulled the short straw to get infront of the camera, and talk about what (which have become standard features in mmos over the years) is to be added to the game.
