There are also 5v5 and 10v10 battlegrounds plus you can have group duels, Open world PvP is still a little iffy, but it's being reworked and well see what NA/EU revamp has to offer.
I call fubar as well. You don't have to pay gold at all in this game to pvp. If you want to solo PVP, you just need to get an item to become an outlaw. Or get your Guild together to G vs G.
Yes under the old system there was little pvp, due to the 10 second deceleration rule, but that has since changed.
