I have spent alot of time both on the offical forums and on these forums.. Reserching the game.. and Im going to give you an Obejetive responce..

The games main feture looks to be its Leveling system with voice overs..

So if you like watching long cut scenes, and enoy levling, and having conversations with Imaginary friends (companions) and you are a solo Orientated player this game is for you..

On the other hand if you are looking for a comunity and engaging endgame content, this game is not for you...

people are allready crying for server mergers, bug fixes and many other things..

If Im not being objective and I would give you advice as I would a friend.. I would say there are alot of other Free to play Options on the market right now that can give you as much "FUN" as SWTOR and you dont have to pay a dime to play them..  Star trek online and European version of AION being two of them... Pirates of the burning sea might be worth cheaking out also ( but it has a low population and is a really nich game)

You also have free generous trails of both RIFT and other games... and if you want something total diffrent, but this game is not for everyone try EvE... but as I said that game is not for everyone...

And if you want a single player experince BuY Skyrim or Dark Souls they are both much better in the story department and execution then SWTOR will ever be....

I hope your research is not just forums because if it is you are misinformed.

Dude the game is not for me Im a die hard EvE sandbox player... SWTOR is never ever going to be the game I spend my money on. Only time I play shallow theamparks is when they are free to play.. They hold my attention spawn for max one Month and Im not forking up hard cash for 4 weeks of game time I can get for free someplace ells... Im not the target audaince for SWTOR.. sorry I dont play MMOS for fun.. I play them Quote "To crush my enemies see them driven before me and hering the lamatations of thier woman" and to be able to do this I must be able to HURT you ingame, that means destroy your itmes, delevel you, or BLOW you up, after you spend 1 weeks game time trying to get that new brand ship... F.u.c.king and scamming others is why I play MMOS.. and no SWTOR dosent have those mechanics so I have to stick with EVE...

Most fun me and my friends ever had was when some dude near cruma tower (linage2) died and droped his Armour and we took it.. he whined like a little bitch.. then another dude shows up and says he is the First dudes father IRL and tells us to give it back.. We laugh them in the face and tells them to go away... Then they attack us going Red we kill them and they drop even more stuff.. that we take ... THAT MY FRIEND IS FUN GAMPLAY hahah

Even IF you beleive all the haters and the game is as bad as THEY say it is.  If you compare this game to single player games or console games.  Its definitly worth picking up for $60 and playing a month.  You would get as much enjoyment if not more then most otehr console games in that month just playing the class story(s) out.

OR you buy both Skyrim and Dark souls for the same price... lots of used copies out there, so you might even get them for cheaper then 75$. I know what option I would make..

Camp A : I love it! Buy it!

Camp B: Its crap!! Don't buy it!!

Answer to your question ?  Get an account ( whichever way you can ) and try the game out yourself.

Hmmm did they actually ADD a trial finally or are they still wanting you to buy the game to try it?

  • NegativeJoeNegativeJoe Member UncommonPosts: 218

bottom line, you have to try it to know.

some people love it, some hate it..

some like me think it is an ok game, but just another boring run of the mill mmorpg that we have all played too much of the past 8 years.

i am not faulting anyone for liking it, but i didn't last my entire free month.

i enjoy crafting , the crafting here is very stupid, you don't even do it actually. i enjoy diversity and being a little unique, there is none of that here. i enjoy open worlds and having a choice on what to do when i log in. here there is no choice. you go do the quests and missions that match your level until you level up.

Right or you could just buy a game that's actually complete from a single player and console game genre instead of a game that was touted as an mmo but was never feature completed. It's NOT an mmo. :)

It amazes me how people can justify things like this and don't see anything wrong with paying good money to companies that do this to the consumer. But it equally amazes me how poor people and women can vote republican....c'est la vie, je crois

    To the OP:

The game is a lot of fun.  Even if you don't up resubbing after the first month it's a pretty safe bet you'll get your money's worth.  They have a lot of new content planned for the next few months so there is a lot too look forward to.  If you've liked any of Bioware's previous games and like MMOs I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.

I cannot presume to know what others think or what you want. I personaly am enjoying myself. I take time to enjoy the cutscenes often escaping to watch it again because I enjoy them. I love the storyline and I enjoy the game. I enjoy my operative best I think and perhaps my Sith Juggernaut , Commando and my personal favourite snarky smuggler. I do not know why I do not really mind the shortcomings may be because I have played Bioware games before and for me the story reigns above everything else plus I play with my husband . Also I love just looking around or helping people or just chatting with others about Star Wars.

It's an example of the start and what not.

Also long as you aren't looking for pvp or something completely different from WoW gameplay wise but story wise you should like the game honestly.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

If you like BioWare games is a must. If not you should save your money.

Everything that makes BioWare games better than average is in SWTOR, everything that makes BioWare games worst than average it is there also.

This game has a backward MMO effect.

With most MMOs, the game starts out slow and it takes you a long time to find the really good parts.

In SWTOR, the game starts out great and the more you play, the more you realize how poor it really is.

^ this my initial impressions were 7/10 but my final score before a left would be about a 5/10.. Either way if you are a star wars fan its worth the box price.. just go in with very low expectations.

Lets say you take a sewer pipe and slap a star wars label on it. That describes this game.

Everything is copy and paste from wow half finished using star wars rep to get by. Game is sewage. You will have fun till level 30 or so then its down the drain from there.

"Full" voiceacting and warlock/hunter companions can craft and have unique storyline quests too? Your troll is invalid.

Hurrah for this "Camp C" which I also happen to belong to. I'm lucky enough to afford to pay for a new game like SWTOR for a few weeks just for the novelty's sake. I don't choose to play or not based on emotional, irrational and sadly binary thinking that surprisingly many people seem to have. It's a bloody game for Rod's sake and not a religion or a marriage until death do you apart. You play for as long as you enjoy it and when you no longer don't you move on. That is what I did after getting IMO my money's worth our of SWTOR over a month or so from SWTOR. No regrets.

People who rant (also and especially in these forums) about games like swtor (or whatever happens to be the pet target of the day) being absolutely bad or good are just sad and best ignored. Make your own mind/form your own opinion and save the world!

Yes they have "companions", in the same way that hot dogs are "food".

Of course, I can only assume your post was sarcastic because no rational person could say that pets in WoW are the same things as the companion system in TOR.

Here's my advice TRY IT BROOOOO.  If you like it continue to play, if you dont cancel.  Personally, I think that swtor is the best themepark MMO on the market, and in a month or two all these complaints people have will be abolished.

So far the Star Wars lore is good. The rest of the game is inferior to other mmos... THIS is just my personal opinion, i like mmos similar to WoW but if they are inferior then i just stay in WoW. Everyone has a different view, if you like what you have seen in Swtor then you can get it and try the free month and decide.

Have fun with your desicion. I made mine and my last Swtor subscription month is being wasted cos i aint playing anymore.
