More popular the game, more posts it gets and the most posts it gets the more trolls, haters, and fanbois it gets.
Case in point -
WoW, EvE, WAR, AoC, Darkfall, Rift, TOR, GW2 and soon to be Tera, TSW... on and on and on.
It's just how this site works (sadly)

Op, why do you ask? You know how it works: before release it is trolls vs hype train, after release it is players vs ex-players.
Or X vs AB, then A vs B
Untill they realise GW2 is the best game ever released.... Then they get furious and bash it even harder.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
no matter if its going to be right , a statement like this is troll bait , and will generate hate!
Probably because a bunch of GW2 fanatics were out in force hating on every other upcoming game. Now the fans of the other games are just doing the same in return.
There are always going to be haters. You can't please everybody.
In fact, if you please everybody, you're doing it wrong.

Every high equipment you may achieve ingame you can buy in cash shop
Because of the rumor of a console release the world may have more walls and instances than expected
Because of said rumor the skill system was dumbed down

Everybody got its own. Who ever gets angry about other peoples opinion has a real issue an should reconsider thinking what is actually going on within himself.
All the haters, everywhere, should just fess up and admit that what they really want is a hug. That's why I'm starting the 'Hug-a- Hater Foundation'. At Hug-A-Hater...we curb hate with hugs. Feeling hateful? Come see us for a hug! New MMO, that's coming out, got you down? Get a hug!! Going into other forums and hating games that are out, but you don't own? C'MON! Get your crazy butt over here and get a hug!!!

Everything that is overly popular like GW2, in this case, will get stupid and annoying fanboys/girls, posting crap about it everywhere.
That's where the hate comes from.

Rift got more hate then all those games combined when it released. GW2 is being showered with praises and is practically being handed the King of MMO title ever since TOR tripped over its own feet.
To come to gaming forum to talk about games.
I hate these threads that exist to analyse the posting culture here and other places, usually through mas labelling and insults.
Bear this in mind; you aren't in traffic, you ARE traffic.

I haven't heard of this Dominus MMO before.

And yeah, that was kind of a lame move to post that GW2 map.
Honestly, I could've sworn I reckognized the previous names of overly disliking posts from SWTOR threads, but now I am starting to doubt my memory since it was weeks ago. I would need someone to point out the recent hateful posts to me so that I can see if I remember them :&.
Bit of a dick move, but still, don't think I'd call it hate. If you want to see what hate looks like, check out almost any TOR thread.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
This is the example. I was expecting some flamming poster to be ripping on a game and all I get is a user that posts a GW2 map and makes a comparison to the game in question. Then a couple of others post a comment and they get their chops busted (rightfully so, their in another game forum). This causes hate. Holy crap have we gotten sensitive. None of the GW2 posters even attempted to correct the mis-information (yet) being stated by the one busting their chops. No GW2 is better than this game comments. Really guys, really. You can't even mention another game in a different game thread. I think we need to lighten up. I think it would be ridiculous to say that GW2 gets any more hate than other MMO's. But to act like the GW2 posters are the extremists is just as ridiculous and this example proves the point.
If someone was to click on the user that posted the map, only one of his recent posts is about GW2. Most of the are about the Tera beta and helping people out in SWTOR. He is an obvious fan of multiple games. Absolutely a horrible example.
First of all, that was the only example I remembered the thread location of so SORRY it wasnt up to your standards.
Secondly, its not that GW2 fans go around "hating" on other games per se, its always just a one-up mentality.

Its almost like some people are brainwashed by a game that isnt even out yet.
Seriously, I don't hate any video game, its just a game. But I do dislike people who preach things in unwanted places. You want to fap to GW2 beta footage, great have it at. But dont derail other game forums with your preaching of the GW2 gospel.

I am sure there are better examples to use. If you provided one, I would probably post a response agreeing with you that the poster was a jerk and was completely wrong. Your example makes it look like your trolling if you comment about another games similiarities in another game forum. So for the sake of the argument to give a valid reason to dislike a fan base, please provide a valid example. Just a simple request.
I can't agree with anything you said here, his post was actually a perfect example IMO, it doesn't have to be a hate filled post to show that it is viral marketing at it's worst. There's a reason why this type of thing is frowned on even by the staff of this site, it's quite simple really, it stirs the pot, gives people something to moan about, and derails topics.
