I been on the forum for a while now. Seen many post and threads from Vets, that seem to be grieving the death of the MMO genre in their eyes.
But I am curious, are any of you grieving, tired MMO vets, hyped up for Guild Wars 2?
If so, what areas of GW2 are you hyped about most?
You believe GW2 will become your new main MMO?
share with us your thoughts and feelings about the upcoming GW2 which seem to be drawing in lots of attention. Maybe this will be the MMO which finally pleases you. What you believe?

Hyped no but excited. I hardly get hyped about new MMO releases anymore.
I agree with this!
Sometimes its good to think deep. Some times it good just to play games.
Only thing I am interested in is how will they change questing and incorporate what is basically sandbox features into it. Another thing is how will the end game work and will pve guilds accept it.
I'm a little curious about it, but unsure if i'll be buying it.
Cautiously watching. It really has that too good to be true feel. However, if it's everything they say it is, it's going to be an amazing MMORPG.
I'm looking forward to it. It's realistic in what it has to offer. It's not offering "we're gonna change MMOs forever, wait and see" It's offering "this is going to pretty fun, here have a look".
Right now I'm back into city of Heroes, but honestly, I don't know how long that'll last this time around. GW2 and Blade and Soul are the only things I have to look forward to. Not just as MMOs but as games. I can't get into skyrim anymore and there doesn't seem to be any other games on the way for me.
Any MMO vet who gets hyped over games anymore are just out to be disappointed. GW2s main selling point is B2P and that is the only feature that will make it stand out in the end. Everything else is just over hyped features that people will find out is nothing more then the same old crap we've gotten before but in a new box.
I'm of mixed opinions. It's ArenaNet so I expect quality, playability, and performance. It's buy to play. It's not pay to win. All of these are very strong positives compared to any current or upcoming games.
Buy it? Of course. Hyped about it? No. When it gets here, it does. I'll play it. If it catches my interest strongly I'll devote more time to it. If not, I can always pick it up later when I feel like it.
That's the beauty of their business model. Strong product, fair price, no subscription hassles. Amazing so few other game companies have figured this out.
im happy that Anet is making gw2 way it is i been gaming since runescape and then to wow back in 2004- 2005
Gw2 will change MMO's gw2 is for the vets its for people that are burn on gameplay that we have today its over used crap and people contuine to buy theses games I HAVE NO IDEA WHY!!
gw2 will be diffrent it will be 1 step furthure for a change in MMO's and this for me is AWSOME
WvW? sure its been done before but not on scale like Gw2 seems have for us
Questing? lmao PLEASEE * text wall go kill x this do x that* gw2 None of that just walk around and all sudden a town is getting raided by bandits and your in middle of action MWHAHAH thats EPIC as HELL
and now real PVP? gw1 is pvp mainly game so that wont be let down and ofc they said druing pvp players drop loot not the loot they are wearing i mean jeez
how skills are going be used based on your weapons i mean thats crazy and new and it will work going be soo fun and new standards for MMO theres heeps features about this game that will be succsefull
im hopeing this game wont burn me out im sick of WoW clones like STWOR and rest of crap thats on market
As GW2 is Buy to play there is absolutely no reason not to BUY it.. There is also no reason to bitch and moan about it because just like Skyrim or any other Solo game Its a one time cost... They arnt forcing you to pay a monthy fee for a half done game.. You get all bug fixes and tweaks for Free.
It will be a fun game worth its B2P cost... Hell even SWTOR would have been worth a BP2 but not a P2P there is a huge diffrence there...
Proper grammar gets me Hyped! Right now, I'm feeling a little down.

Most anticipated MMO in a long time for me. What else to say?
Might be because its 8am in the morning here, and Iv been up all night playing Tera, and English is not my native lanaguage..
Still no reason why not everyone should buy GW2.... Its B2P that puts it in a special category!
MMO Vets? You think it is only MMO Vets who are hyped up about GWII? Personally I as mmorpg vet if 20 years online and 32 years of table top rpg playing while excited have some concerns. Because Arena net "is" hyping some concepts I am against. If you want to talk about a game world this mmo vet (as you call us) is excited about, then that would be Pathfinder.
Want to know what this mmo-vet is tired of himself? Tired of players who obviously want to be playing a different genre of mmo like a MOBA or MOFPS game, but instead of going and playing those genre of mmo, they come to mmo-rpgs and whine and bitch until game designers start listening. And what was the mmo-rpg genre is nolonger that, it is a mutation, a hybrid that tries to make to many different types of player happy. But in the end fails to make anyone happy.
Don't get me wrong, where the genre can be improved or expanded upon, I am all for that. I am just sick and tired of players who are all about the destination instead of the journey, the player who is all about cap play. The player who doesn't want to play in an immersive, interactive world one who isn't interested in crafting, politics, role-play, commerce, battle, etc. They basically are the twitch combat player who wants to have a fully developed character that they can take head to head vs other characters, they are playing the wrong genre of game.
So while I am actually looking forward to trying out GWII, I am not all hyped up for it because the game does do some things that speak of designing for the player who really does want to play a MOBA or MOFPS instead. Though even though Arena Net is doing some things that concern me they appear to be doing a lot more things right, so yeah I think I'll have fun.
Not hyped at all, but I would definitely buy this and recommend it to friends. I personally no longer have the luxury of time to play MMOs compared to my earlier years of "MMOs" (Legends of Kesmai/Kingdom of Drakkar early 1990s), but this game just frankly has just the right amount of features to pique my interest.
You may be right. But also check out that video. What you all think about it?

i may pick it up to try this WvWvW and the same goes for TSW with their 3 faction pvp. Its about time the devs move toward involving more then 2 sides in pvp since it will essentially be easier with population imbalances.
I was taking issue with the OP Timeout. Not you. I didn't even read your post.

Not really . I usually try every MMO that comes out , apart from the ones that are made for console . Its a deal breaker for me. If an MMO can be played on XBox its not for me.
I also hated GW .
Plus no raids . I am on old fashioned raider. So there ya go. GW2 is probably the least excited I have ever been for an MMO. I hope it comes out and proves me wrong and we get another really good MMO after Rift and SWTOR but I am afraid people are too much from it and they will be seriously dissapointed .
On the other hand the forums will so much fun.
Here is what is confusing me. What was the point of having pve guilds in this game? The end game dungeons only give cosmetic gear that I guarantee you will be able to buy from the cash shop.
Pvp guilds it makes sense because of the WvWvW thing where you can make your e-peen bigger and nothing more pvp'rs lover then a free game because they are cheap. The game just looks weak on the pve side of it.
I think in the long run GW2 will go down as the biggest dissapointment in mmorpg history. You simply can not promise everything then talk shit on every game out there without being able to back it up.I predict the lack of meaningful end game and lag in WvWvW will make people stop playing.
You're incorrect, but feel free to wallow in your ignorance. At this point, I find the sulking entertaining.
I'm not the typical bored mmorpg.com vet, though, because I don't subscribe to the "sandbox good, themepark bad" dogma. Most here do, and I can't see them being overly excited by GW2.
