I just heard there is no raiding in this game? Is this true? I hope it's not true. I've been looking forward to this game for awhile, and if there is no raiding, I will deffinetly not play.
(I have a feeling some fanbois will flame this thread to hell and back).
No organised raids. Save your money if thats all you want.
I get the feeling the PvE endgame is going to be pretty light except for the diehard fans grinding appearance gear. PvP will be where its at.
dunno the epic 100 man world boss events look better then any pve end game in WoW or other mmos.

again did you guys see that video i linked .....
some have to fight the dragon
some have to man the cannons
some have to defend those using the cannons
some have to kill the undead
some have to kill the bone shields the dragon put up.
some have to kill the dragons tendrils (so they don't pull people on the cannons to the dragon)
I think the issue is right now that not many peope have dealt with ANET in years or have never dealt with them before. This is not like Bioware where we could point to a Single player rpg and get a idea of what direction they would go.
The best we have is GW1 and that was a corpg and this just seems out there and the concepts literally make no sense to alot of people and me included. I can't tell if they will be massively failure or utterly change the genre.
The answer, I think, is rather simple Puremallace -
If you like raiding, power leveling to max level and being the first to conquer end-game, out leveling and pwn'ing noobs in PvP, and having your success determined more by the quality of gear you have-
Then GW2 is not going to be a good MMORPG for you.
Anet has been VERY open about their direction, their ideals, their over all design objectives and goals... they've told us from the beginning what this game is going to be.
Look up the GW2 Design Manifesto video from a couple of years ago - pretty much sums a lot of it up.
Ignorance to the information that is out there is fine, but try not to make assumptions without educating yourself first.
I could say something like "the capture/control mechanics in EvE are terrible" but I would probably be mistaken because I don't know anything about the capture/control mechanics in EvE. My ignorance should prevent me from making assumptions without any support for why I am making them.

If you need raiding in order to play a game, they're that way------------>
GW2 is not a gear grinding, carrot chasing, 25 man clusterfuck, rinse repeat, MMO. This game is all about the journey, rather than the destination. There will be plenty here for both casuals and hardcores alike, SPvP, WvW, Dungeons, Elite DEs, etc...This is not the game for you, if raiding is your definition of endgame. It is shocking however, how close-minded people can get. I guess I don't see the logic in thinking that if a game doesn't have raiding, that it will fail utterly. Think outside the box.

No hate - different strokes for different folks :P If the gear grind/treadmill is your cup o' tea then have at it! As far as group content, yeah, GW2 has plenty of it.

but you're right no organized raids at all.
Its not organised, its every random player in the zone coming over to help and doing various objectives.
Not the same as organising a set raid roster of 10-40 players at 7pm for 4 nights a week to clear raid zones.

LOL, yep. Now you actually have to play without a pre written script to tell you where to stand.
hmm u can still organize 40 or more players (depending on weither you in a guild) to still complete those objectives........that sounds organized to me >.>
There will just be other group as well and its possible to organize with those other groups.......its open so its open to all types of possiblities......at least thats how I see it
He said 'No Raiding?'. That's like going to China and saying 'No Mexican food?'. If you want raiding good sir, you have hundreds of other MMO's to pick from. Besides, the word Raiding is a better term for PVP. WoW abused that word to define going into a simple instance.
Actually its not. It looks like a giant spam fest with little to no coordination. I have a bad feeling this is how DE's will be. I am not a fan of soft grouping. It is almost like a forced pug....
No raiding? Oh effin well, if there were raids, don't you think it would be somewhat similar to WoW, which is why we're following up on this game to began with? If you want raids, WoW, Rift, and ever other clone is >>>>>>>>> Way...
In all seriousness, I really love it when people complain about WoW clones ect, and they complain and QQ when a game has (OR DOESN'T!!!) similar mechanics as WoW (in this instance, Raids), pretty hypocritical, and in reality, it makes you look like a dumbass... perhaps there will be more to GW then Raids, that was WoW's thing, let them have it, let GW pioneer something different, isn't that what we have all been asking for anyways?

Guess what, as much as I hate zergfests, that is what raiding is like in video games.
I used to be one of those people who thought scripted PvE was the pinnacle of multiplayer gameplay. In some ways, I still think it rocks. And I *still* am not a fan of zergs - hated the titular rifts in RIFT.
But the fact is WoW-style raiding is the type of thing you can teach a team of trained monkeys to do. And chances are, a team of trained monkeys will outperform most middle-of-the-road raiding guilds.
The true difficulty in WoW style raiding is faced by the world top 10 guilds who have to discover the fights for themselves, read logs, and make notes attempt after attempt. And even in those cases, there will be a handful of people who are in for the ride while the officers do the technical work.
And once the raid has been cleared by the world top 10-15, the videos start popping up. Guides start being written. The fight trickles down to the rest of the population who basically go through the motions of the (REALLY) top guilds to complete the encounter. And of course, given how terrible people are, it takes most people weeks to clear an attempt. Because there will always be that one guy who stands in the fire, the one guy who doesn't know how to DPS, the one healer that can never seem to keep the tank up.
Consequently, the guild attempts the encounter for weeks on end. How is that fun? How is that in any way a definition of skill any more so than zerging? All that requires is TIME. Time to read up strats, look up videos, respec, regem, whatever.
There's my WoW character - as you see, I raided through WotLK and have some achievements to back up my claims. The guilds I described above - is the type of guild I used to be in. As you see, my 10 man is better than my 25 man progress. Why? Because it was simply easier to get 10 good players than 25 good ones. In our 25 man team, we always had a bunch of weak links who brought us down.
Raiding WoW style is not hard. It requires time, and effort. And during the actual encounter, it requires you to not panic, play optimally (which comes through practice and reading guides on your class, on how to gear, gem, etc) and hope to GOD that none of the other retards mess up.
In my experience, I find that someone always messes up. That's what the US top 50 have over the rest of WoW"s raiding population. They're just as scrubby as the masses but their team of 25 have less screw-ups than the average raiding guild.
"Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."
Basically to sum up: In the light of all that, I find simply playing my class whenever I want to, how I want to more fun than WoW raiding.
In fact, in WoW, I used to solo the Tiger boss in ZG at 80. That I found required more skill on a personal level than raiding ICC or something. I had to position myself correctly, time my interrupts and know when to use my cooldowns. No video on YT could help me do that - it's something I had to do for myself.
"Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."
I vote that we all stop comparing newer games to World of Warcraft. WoW has been out sine what 2004? 2005? Its old, outa date, going stale. This is beginning of a new era for us, us MMOers, us Gamers. We should consider the past and remember it to relish it, we need to look towards the future of MMO gaming and from all the previews and this Press beta that just passed, I believe that Guild Wars 2 will usher in that era. Forget raiding, that's old and dead, we don't need it especially if the end game starts the second you are dropped into the world.
I just heard there is no raiding in this game? Is this true? I hope it's not true. I've been looking forward to this game for awhile, and if there is no raiding, I will deffinetly not play.

His channel will answer all of you questions about end game.
In my opinion, not having raiding is the best thing ever. I hated raiding; standing in one spot spamming 3 skils is not a fun way to spend 3 hours, only to then have a 5% chance of getting loot.
Well, I'm somewhat concerned by this, but I will admit that's because I have not really experienced any other type of PvE endgame from my previous MMOs. So to a certain degree, I'm left wondering what will there be to keep players driven as far as the PvE aspect of GW2 goes.
However, I've watched some of the videos others have posted on this thread, and I am definitely intrigued. The idea of these dynamic encounters where random players have to form up and utilize adhoc tactics to kill bosses sounds pretty damn cool compared to the scheduled & repetative nature of instanced raids. Not to mention, I hated the idea that in other games, most of the time you were expected to know an encounter's mechanics before even doing it for the first time, which would serve as a spoiler and ruin any immersion (for me anyway).
I'm looking forward to just walking into a massive battle in progress (especially for the first time), surveying the scene and going "Hmm, that guy needs help with spawns" or "That turret needs to be manned" or "Those little things spawning in mass numbers probably need to be put down". Or I could just completely run by and say "Maybe next time...". So as someone who is quite used to the traditional concept of end-game PvE raids (a la WoW or Rift), I am definitley willing to give this new approach a try.
Imagine a video game that was fun. You turned it on, logged on and you were having fun. Didn't matter what you were doing, you were doing it because it was fun. There were just that many things to do in this magical game that were fun. That would be a pretty sweet game.

Hmmm...another one huh?
Raiding starts at level 1. Endgame starts at level 1. Do not compare the concept with WoW.
I'm glad there are no raids.
I got really tired of the boring raids in WoW fast.
Especially the ones in Cataclysm.
GW2 does have large scale PvE Dynamic Events that require alot of people though like the Tequatl fight.
They were saying it was a 10 man+ fight.
Though It probably can be low manned with skill like anything.
