I don't think it's funny or clever at all. I just put it there to give easily offended people something to feel lofty and self-important about.
I guess you would have to be either a woman or someone who loves them to know why a woman would find your sig unfunny. Violence is hilarious! btw is that the guy who played Rimmer in Red Dwarf? I'm sure in the context of the show he was on it was hilarious, but here, it's like having a sig of some guy stomping a puppy over and over.
I'm going to have to disagree with the very first title post in this thread.
Jedi are a problem in this game, and further proof that Raph Koster should never head up any MMOG every again as lead Designer.
Currently the problem is boring combat. You can see the levels and you know from the gitgo win or lose. Even in Combat Level 80 groups, its utterly boring combat, I can sit there and heal all day the guy who is getting the most damage and he won't be wavering in his stance when his health points go from 100% to 80% down to 14% back to 50% during the entire combat. There is no slack of damage ability or knockdown affect that I am seeing so far.
After respecting one of my chars on another shard buying all kinds of crafting up at the expense of my combat skills i was down to Combat Level 8, so I get a Rebel mission. It was a Combat level 6 mission. I defeated it solo without any worries in the world. On my way back to the city I see a Combat Level 11 Red Monster attack me, I could not deal enough damage fast enough while I was able to keep myself healed up.
So there is such a narrow range of level of monsters you can fight there is no exploration needed in the game, there is way to risk yourself, its far to cut and clear win or lose, there is no excitement in battle.
Jedi are a problem in this game, and further proof that Raph Koster should never head up any MMOG every again as lead Designer.

Firemagic is quite obviously neither. I'd go so far to say, judging by both the sig and his responses that he isn't old enough to be considered interesting or young enough to be considered cute by females of any age category.

the problem with this statement is that Ralph Koster didn't want Jedi in the game at all. haden Blackman wanted them in. If you read Koster's early design notes you would know this.
i wish that it wasnt true, but i agree that this game is dying. i have played as a mbh, mdoc, mrifles, mwhatever. after a year with swg, i think i might be close to hanging up on the game. having started with the village a few weeks ago, i have grinded some and played on kash or went on a quest when i got bored........but the fire seems to have gone out of the universe. i only know of three people that i played with before the cu hit, at least 20 people in my guild and some who i met in casual play have moved on to whatever it is they do now...../cricketchirp. i would also have to agree that it is very difficult to connect with a guild whose leaders do little else than grind their jedi when not performing civic functions with their alt. things will get better when they start merging galaxies because of low server populations, but then there will be lag issues again. i bet that when they stop changing the game so much and fix all the bugs, then the player population will settle on five or so servers and everyone will be happy.......until they release swg2. think it wont happen?......ever hear of star wars collectible card game? a huge fan base that all left when lucasarts decided to take the game from decipher and give it to hasbro or fischer price(i dont remember)...lol. the game crawled into a hole and died.
someone said that STO would suck?.....i am willing to give it a try. i am below 70 degrees south latittude for 9 months out of the year, so i have to play over a satellite connection......otherwise i would be playing more of the jump to lightspeed or conterstrike source, etc. DND online might be fun too, but the screenshots looked kinda chintsy to me.

Hmm, somehow I don't think so. SWG servers as others have stated are very much populated at the moment. I also play EQ2 and for a comparision I see a lot more people in SWG. The CU brought back a lot of players who left when it was constantly being delayed (myself included).
These boards are just full of people who don't have a clue and base their posts on old information. It like saying WoW is dead, as server stability is so bad they are down every few hours or it takes 2 hours to log on, or the honor system destroyed it. I know loads of people who left WoW for those reason, but guess what. They addressed those (just like SoE are addressing SWG issues) and are going strong. If anything SWG was dead prior to the CU. I can vouch for that as I saw it.
The CU saved SWG and to believe otherwise is simply being narrow minded or sulking because god mode was taken away. Combat wise their aren't any broken professions, they have fixed the majority of the crafting issues and are going to add a new buff system for entertainers (in a coming publish). Publishes are every two weeks, which additional hotfixes between.
Customer service has also vastly improved. Its by know means as good as CoH's, but it is certainly better than Blizzard's which is simply terrible.

You have got to be freaking kidding right? There idea of customer service is taking your clothes at the gym while in the shower and then pointing and laughing as you run out naked to go home and get dressed. My experience with there cs unit was like prison sex. Uncomfortable and forced.
God mode mod my ass. Prior to the cu we could easily beat up crap we should be capable of killing. Stupid dragons, lizards, stormies, rebel troopers, etc. Everyone who complained about god moding never played another mmo or understood what you should be able to kill with a gun and what you shouldn't. Lets see 5 guys with freaking laser rifles shooting a Krayt dragon.... Oh I see the dragon is suppose to win... get a clue. Superbattle droids... What kills super battle droid in the sw movies? 1 shot from a pre e-11 rifle. The problem wasn't players it was the retarded developer who stuck 100k ham on every god damn thing in the game. From there it was an arms race on buffs just to stay alive for 5 seconds. Even then soloing Krayts, GDK's, and SBD's was tricky, difficult and stupid since grouping was so much faster. Players didn't die against 10 stormtroopers because some retard put 120k ham on a defenseless animal.
Now you fight a group of piket plains walkers. A dumb animal. They collectively smoke you. Same problem still exists. Retarded developers. A few well placed specials from a gun or a sword should drop any creature. Why does it take 100 shots from a max group to kill creatures? Am I to believe that things are that tough? Same goes the other way. A couple hits should really effect a player. There is no balance it is only a modifier allowing you to "feel" like it was balanced. Balance comes from adjustments. Every critter is about the same now. Just find a level you can handle.
SWG was god mode, pre CU. No nothing in mmorpg is surposed to win, but neither is everyone surposed to be a one man amy that can destory everything within secords. That was the case pre-CU. I was able to solo Nightsisters, with just novice brawler, some decent armour and buffs. Yeah, its wasn't quick, but that's just insane!!!
As for dumb critters being able to wipe out parties, get real!!! That was like the first week after the CU. Its completely different now. If you are trying to state how you feel the game is now, then you really need to look at how you are playing. Speaking personally I can still solo multiple cl80+ targets and many others don't seem to having any problem either. Just now it takes more than writing a macro to spam one single attack. Also all mobs may have a level, but they are not the same. Each have different resists still, they are just hidden (which used to be the case for the levels).
As for support, sorry but it has improved. I personally have had issues dealt with, within minutes. E-mails to CSR are responded to, as well. Compaired to Blizzard, which has to now be the worse company for support. In WoW I never got a promt responce, nor did anyone I knew. Tickets were simply deleted, without a responce. When they did respond they said they were looking into it, but would never get back.
So many of you on these boards just want things to fail, because you got bored or they did something you didn't like. Well dreaming, hoping and not accepting that things change just doesn't wash.
I was able to solo Nightsisters, with just novice brawler, some decent armour and buffs. Yeah, its wasn't quick, but that's just insane!!!
That is at best streching the truth at worst an outright lie. While the low level nightsisters may have been easy there is no way in hell you where soloing elders with novice brawler unless that included master rifleman. I could solo nightsisters only with one template. Masterswords, Masterdoc and tkm. It was the only way one player could solo nightsisters and without a couple players a mob could easily take one player out. It was by no imagination fast and it was rather pointless considering 2-3 players could do the job much faster. GDK's are similar since they had a blast vulnerability. SO is just about every npc except those with a stun vulnerability.
If you want to discuss the old system and say it was god-moding at least do it right. God-moding is so misused and frankly it is why the developers failed to create descent content. First off GOD-MODING is inherient in this game. God-moding is where a role playing character refuses to accept his characters death or role-plays in an invincible character. Cloning and rezing are god-mode features. So implying there is no more god-moding is incorrect.
Back to pre-cu. A useless point now but one I am making anyways to dispell the myths and lies of these and swg forums. Implying invinciblity was a problem is one of the most absurd things I have ever heard in my life. The problem was stacking skill mods from other professions with caps not set appropriately. People built up dodge, melee defense and ranged defense, etc to the point you couldn't hit them for damage. There is no questioning that fact. The problem with stating that a player was in god-mode is that the player still could be killed quiet easily as I can atest to from personal experience. I died a lot in pvp. I still died a lot even with a near perfect jedi killing template. The skills needed lower caps. Something easily done without redoing an entire combat system to fix the stacker problem.
What stopped players from pvping prior to the cu wasn't god-mode players. It was the cost of a death in pvp and the prep time/cost to start pvping again. No one wanted to deal with death decay, insurance, and rebuffing. Trust me. The worst part of pre-cu was the down time. Every activity required to much preparation. I enjoyed the cu for fixing this issue.
Finally the cruix to god-moding as an arguement. You could solo things pre-cu without thought yes. What where those creatures and npcs? Mokks, stormtroopers (most), rebel troopers (most), krayts (difficult), gdks (difficult), nightsisters (extremely difficult with force powers). So basically you could kill things alone. However, it was always better to be in a group and it was never that easy to kill high-end content alone. For the most part high end content you grouped for. I hate how CU people made that system into some memory that isn't even close to the facts of the system.
Man are you a soe applogist. I didn't know you could turn a problem I have with soe into a slap at another company. Sorry I don't play blizzard games, but I just read about soe releasing another patch with bugs that where mentioned in testing and pushed live AGAIN! I will believe you when I see this type of activity stopping. Answering a few tickets is not the big service problem.
So many of you on these boards just want things to fail, because you got bored or they did something you didn't like. Well dreaming, hoping and not accepting that things change just doesn't wash.
I am a reasonable man. g4 tv just did a little snippet on star wars games. It ripped swg a new one. Lets talk about acceptance and accepting swg is a below average mmo with an average fanbase of between 250-350k players. I personally want swg to be successful and playable. It wasn't playable for me when I left it and the customer service was horrible. It will take a lot to pull me from my guild in guild wars. We have so much fun I wont be leaving the group for some csr doing his job for once.

Exactly.
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.
I'm not lieing (or anything), as I did it as a test to see if there was really any challenge left in the game. Which turned out their wasn't, so I left. No its wasn't the Nightsisters with 100% resists to everything but blast damage. My full template main couldn't kill them, simply because of those resists. However, neither could they kill me (while buffed). Pre-CU there was no challenge anywhere within the game, you died if you were unlucky with a spawn rate or you encountered the armour whole bug. What you could kill was simply down to resists and if you could hold a weapon that countered them. The point is pre-CU a newly made character could solo high end mobs. That isn't right and that's how there was a god mode, hardcoded restrictions aside. The HAM system was also terrible, when not buffed. Some professions would do more damage to themselves then the target.
As for bugs in patches, please name a game that hasn't had identified bugs in each patch. I've played CoH, WoW, SWG, EQ2 for a long enough period to see none are perfect when making changes or additions. SoE are bug fixing loads, at the moment.
Why come here and state 2nd hand information and out of date "state of the game" comments, while not playing? I thought Guild Wars (played for a few weeks) sucked big time, was no real control over the destiny of your character and other than the linear story was pretty shallow in every other area. Doesn't mean its not a good game and I don't head off to other forums trying to say it sucks.
Like it or not, SWG isn't the same as when you left and SoE are working hard on making improvements. To be honest I don't think we would have seen these changes without WoW, as I sence it gave SoE a bit of a fright. At least they are tryng now.
Was just wondering if players had noticed a decrease in numbers over the past couple of months? Was in the popular ,"The Church" guild which consisted of some 100 players only to find out of late they have all mostly moved on. Was also noticing the graph dropping on the mmo's chart for some time aswell.

I haven't noticed any players leaving the game. Infact I think more players are joining it. My server seams to get more and more new players

No, its NOT about SWG. I have just taken them from a random WoW thread on the top of todays WoW forum general discussion. WoW being the most successful MMORPG at the moment.
You see the same claims in EVERY game ALL THE TIME. That players are leaving a game, that a game is dying, that patches ruin a game, that customer service sücks, that bugs sück, that profession XXXX is killing the game ... and that the sky will fall soon.
Ico's Jedi Trick of the Week: Only suckers get caught by SBD's looting the first bin the DWB. Why not cloak, loot the bin, and then aggro the SBDs on the party behind you.
Seriously though, I wouldn't mind Jedi being in the game if their implementation didn't completely bork the evolution of this game. My hope is that the devs have taken some 'lessons learned' for SWG2.
Ico Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.

Only problem is... in SWG it's true. The CU ruined the game. There absolutely was a mass exodus from SWG right after the CU... and it has never recoved from that. Not only did people leave the game but those that had second accounts for Doctors and Entertainers dropped them.
Anyone claiming otherwise just doesnt want to see more people leave the game and they are protecting it.
Oh and... the "Sky" won't fall on SWG until Sony and Lucas Arts says it can fall. The only thing good about SWG is that they have a ton of money behind them. This game could continue running with 50 people playing it.

Err no, I'm not kidding.

Was just wondering if players had noticed a decrease in numbers over the past
couple of months? Was in the popular ,"The Church" guild which consisted of some
100 players only to find out of late they have all mostly moved on.
Was also noticing the graph dropping on the mmo's chart for some time aswell.

I haven't noticed any players leaving the game. Infact I think more players are joining it. My server seams to get more and more new players

Do these quotes sound familiar ?

No, its NOT about SWG. I have just taken them from a random WoW thread on the top of todays WoW forum general discussion. WoW being the most successful MMORPG at the moment.
You see the same claims in EVERY game ALL THE TIME. That players are leaving a game, that a game is dying, that patches ruin a game, that customer service sücks, that bugs sück, that profession XXXX is killing the game ... and that the sky will fall soon.
Have fun

Lets get back on topic ...
Ico's Jedi Trick of the Week:
Only suckers get caught by SBD's looting the first bin the DWB. Why not cloak, loot the bin, and then aggro the SBDs on the party behind you.
Seriously though, I wouldn't mind Jedi being in the game if their implementation didn't completely bork the evolution of this game. My hope is that the devs have taken some 'lessons learned' for SWG2.

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned.
You are just a troll, as its quite clear you don't have clue of the state of the game.
SWG is more populated now, post CU....FACT!!!!!
