The population has increased. Any person can see the difference from most or nearly all towns being empty most of the time to what we have now, where the towns are completely jammed back, that places like fab and meduli, you have to struggle just to target the banker so you can get in your bank.
As a player who played the game since beta, I can tell you now, we have not had a population like this for at least a good 8 months. I guess most of the players are coming over from darkfall which is mainly the reason for the population rise, plus with the awakening expansion very close now. Lastly I don't see why you can't just accept the fact that people playing the game are telling you someone who doesn't play the game that the popualation is steady now and increasing? is it hard to accept that people are actually playing the game? just take a look at politics, AQ was wiped out, a server war is over, towers get built every day, terrorital control towers are going up and down, Moh - ki went red. There is a population in the game, I just subbed both of my accounts for 3 months because the game feels so much alive now, there just so many people in game, that I am constantly getting into fights. You don't really see anyone raging on the forums, you don't see any people who actually play the game shit talking SV.
Mortal Online is a fun game, its different from most others, the developers are close with the community, it has some stuff you do not see in other games, they are using the unreal engine 3 which is really nice, its come a long way since beta, just accept that and move on, you either like a game or you do not, I don't see what all the fuss is about. You talk like the game is a scam and a sham, but its not, it just a indie game with a indie company that has a small team that uses a high tech engine like unreal engine 3.
Apparently you are only interested in posting rabid fanboism rather than reading my actual post where I clearly stated that SV authorized representatives have said the same thing you are saying and have been PROVEN to be wrong. I dont know about you but when some fanbios continue to come here every quarter and tell us how the game is growing and yet EVERY SINGLE financial statement tells us it is not, I tend to no longer believe the fanbois. If it makes you feel better, I will agree that you may actually believe it.

I give up, you don't play the game, so its highly unlikely you have any general idea how the population is ingame.
You don't really see anyone raging on the forums, you don't see any people who actually play the game shit talking SV.
Do you read the forums or you simply take a look on the threads/ posts you simply like?

Thats up for each player to decide. For you its fun but for me its a frustrating and full of bugs pile of crap. The developers used to be close to the community a long time ago and now you hardly see anyone jumping in the forums and having a chat with the community. Most of people's concerns, questions, complains are getting totaly ignored and if it wasnt the community that was trying to provide some answers, i m pretty sure that most of the threads would be just an OP and nothing more. I m not an expert and cant really say which are UE3 advantages and disadvantages, but talking about high tech regarding a game. that today almost 2 years after release fails to deliver a functional chat box (just to give a small example) it just sounds rediculous. MO being an indy game made by an indie company shouldnt be an excuse for total lack of quality, half assed placeholders, neverending bugs, unprofessional staff etc etc.
And to come back to the OP yes i can confirm the population is increased in comparison to what it was 1 1/2 - 2 months ago. Back then crowded towns had 1-5 people in primetime and now i whitnessed maybe more than 30 toons in Fabernum/ Meduli in several different timezones. Unfortunately the game feels empty, cheap and poorly optimized and also the fact that it cant support more than a specific number of toons in the same node, simply doesnt give you the right to talk about "booming population" in an MMO that has difficulties supporting more than 1000 players online simultaneously its sad and frustrating, that a company like SV considers something like that as an achievement.
I really doubt AQ had anything to do with the population decline (if there is any. It's hard for me to tell, since I'm lately in Tox area, which always has been a ghost town)
I think the latest surge of newbs had more to do with the DF and TOG players being disappointed with their games. Add maybe a little bit of awakening hype, which could not last long since the expac isn't even out or advertised yet, and there you have it- few coincidence leading to a temporary population spike. Anyway Tox is still a bit more populated than I remember it, but that is just thanks to one guild, so I wouldn't treat it as evidence of anything, and even with them, it still is a ghost town.
also the war had quite alot to do with the population increase, whenever there is one theres a spike in population as players sub to help their guilds out which usually fades away shortly after a war ends.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
True. But that mostly has an influence on what is going on outside starting towns. Places like Fab and Med (the major discussion point in these threads) during the spike when I was around were full of half geared newbs, not fully prepared crusaders.
Even with me bashing the game and making statements in this forum how much SV is incompetent I have actually re-subscribed to... Mortal Online. One thing I had realized is that even with all the bugs, all of the problems, all of the shortcomings of this MMO I still did enjoy many moments which can not be redone in any other MMO currently on the market. This game has so many flaws but it still manages to entertain because the PvP is one of a kind (though buggy and frustrating at times, I think beta pvp was more skill based and better but that's another discussion).
I believe the population of the game has increased (and no I'm not saying this because of me playing again). The population of the game has increased in all areas, every town seems to have people in them now and no it's not only ungeared noobs or yellows. There seems to be a lot of vets coming back including 5-6 members of my guild. I must point out that it is laughable to hear anyone say that it is getting crowded or that the population is crazy high as some people like to claim on the mortal online official forum. No, it is not "crazy high" and no it is not "getting crowded". The population is still lacking big time but it definately has improved. I expect that with the Awakening "expansion" the population will have major increase but can SV hold on to that? That's been their issue, hopefully they address the lack of PvE content in the game. We can talk about bugs all day long but it doesn't matter if there's nothing for anyone to do except pvp. (Please don't give me that mining, woodchopping, I tame animals and butcher them and make armours crap... lol, talking real content that the average consumer will enjoy, which is what MO needs, content that the average person can enjoy. Alright I am getting a little off topic).
To summarize, population is definately higher than it was months ago but it is not at a level where one can claim it is becoming crowded or truely high. It is just simply rising is all and it is a good sign.

welcome back i guess energyo, i will likely resub as well once awakening comes out. But you missed the population boon already energyo, jan and early fab it was crazily busy in MO, with banks packed full of people. Fabernum was to full, i couldnt get any nodes they were being stripped and my pc was struggling to keep a decent fps in fabernum. When i unsubbed a few weeks ago though it had died down again to just beofre christmas levels.
Agree that the game needs pve etc etc.... and the game is difficult to replace.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
Agreed! There was a boom but it has died down a bit now. I think the boom was due to the war and an artical that came out on some web site.
There will definatly be a problem with banks and stuff if they ever do get a steady large population.
People will just move to different towns. When the game was released we didn't have many issues. I mean of course you had the asshats who blocked doors and shit but that usually got taken care of. I don't think we have to worry about that much now because there are bankers everywhere.
amadman are you the amadman who used to bein SS long ass time ago?
I have been playing on and off but have only played solo since SS. I have been avoiding joining guilds because I am not really a combat player. I just like to make my own way and try to stay alive.
Good to see you back!
Yeah it was real busy at release but we did have the problem then too. Rember they added all the extra banks in towns. I seen from this last burst that it still could be an issue if the population raises alot. There where times durring this small burst when I had trouble getting to the banker to open him up at the main fab bank. This was do to there being to many people trying to do the same thing at the same time. It was hard to get back out as well.
The second bank was never as bad but this was just a small population spike. If there was ever a large constant population then I think there will be issues.
But really all they have to do is allow you to open the banker from a further range. Then you would not have to get right up to the banker in the small buildings and the outside bankers would always be easily accessed.
There's always a so said population bloom, population increase etc etc, before and after every expansion, yet so far, SV has NEVER provided numbers to back up their claims, NEVER.
They did manipulate percentages, which is absolutely meaningless if you don't provide actual numbers behind.
I keep hearing about how well the game has been doing recently and how population has increased but when I look at the quarterly financial results and when I look at the Stock price per share, all I see is its going down and down and that its now stalled around 0,15 SEK per share which is almost an all time low and was the same about 3 months ago.
So if ever there seems to be more player, the only sensible explaination is that : more trial accounts, more actual subscribers who were inactive playing again. In both cases, its not a population increase and won't bring any money to SV and won't work towards achieving break-even.
As said in another thread. Let´s drop this and wait out the next real report then. People who don´t play the game says it´s "6 subscribers" and people that play the game sees more and more people ingame. So let´s just wait and see who´s right. We can beat this dead horse blue and yellow, but never come anywhere. Noone can actually prove they are right now. It´s as simple as that.

Oh there is one thing that doesn't lie and that doesn't require that you wait until next report, and that's the stock price.
I assume if there was such a significant raise in sales, the stock would go up, but instead its stalling very very very low.
And given its so low, one would think it could only go back up if things got better.

Well, believe it or not, but most stocks goes by numbers/reports from companies. If there are a good report you´ll see it go up the very same day, if the numbers are red, it will go down. It´s been red numbers for SV so far, and the stock has fallen. But we still need to wait the next report to see if the actuall subscribers have gone up or down since the last report. The stock now doesn´t prove shit...

There are many things that affect stock price other than number of users of an MMO, debt levels, volume and availability of the shares for example, I doubt the stock market will be much affected by the bitter arguments of a forum.
And not going anywhere, and has been at that or close to for an extended period.
As a company, SV is not worth very much.
Based on their revenue, the perceived value of the IP, the "float", earnings going forward, confidence in management and all the rest... the stock is worth... about 2 cents US.
None of that opinion, thems the facts.
And as far as SV is concerned, they stink.
(P.S. And they are listed on a low level "over-the counter" Swedish/European exchange (not entirely certain, I don't read Swedish) so, it is already on the lowest level exchange possible, without being totally delisted from everywhere, so it is the absolute bottom of the barrel on that front, too. Which also says nothing good about the company.)

And bash numbers around like theres no tomorrow...

Most of this stuff both pro/anti SV/MO is speculation and name calling.
What is not speculation is the price of SV is stock is what? $.02?
For any publicly traded company to be worth that little says very bad things about that company.
For a company that has a single product (MO) that the stock of that company is $.02 says bad things about the product.
The markets don't care about fanbois, they don't care who posts what.
The markets care about if a company can make money on a product they are selling, and what the prospects for that are going forward.
SV stock is selling for around $.02.
That says nothing good.

How did they "manipulate" percentages?
It's hilarious that this forum gets more daily posts than the Rift forum here. It speaks to the amount of foam flying around here.
This is awesome news...now there are 6 subscribers?

How did they manipulate percentages??? are you joking or are you just that blind or dishonest? want me to link the other thread started on this forum?
When you give percentages without any number behind its called manipulation. Politicians and governments do it all the time with surveys.
