get a 2nd account level a crap ton of alts just so you can buff your main.
At least Twinking a character in AO was an art form (so to speak). Sure the omni-med gear was a start but it at least forced you to use your brain & you could get really creative sometimes More MMO's need to do that.

AO's twinking is a shining jewl in the crown of MMO history. But man, levleing alts just to cast ES, FG, NS, IC,SFA...and the list goes on. LOL
And I was clan so we had to mish roll our med suits
Kill Stealers, nothing made me wish I was on a PvP server more then when I was killing Quillmane and some piece of trash comes in, nukes it to death, and demands an insane amount of plat to loot "his cloak". Then again on a PvP server they just would have injured me, let the mob kill me for an xp death, killed the mob, and then told me to pay up.
Rogues actually stealing a mobs money, though it was also funny if you were on the other end. Back when people would kill Hill Giants for cash you would sometimes find they droping little to no coin, and a rogue going around pick pocketing them all. It gave xp at least lol.
i dont miss really long/impossible corpse runs if you cant get it back its so frustrateing whats the fun of sitting around the fear portal for hours or days hopeing someone breaks it so u can recover your corpse
I definately hated the melee imbalance of eq.. hybrid classes are fine now imo
i dont miss the cardboard city layouts and hour long runs some runing is ok but i will never miss running through a zones that long again
i do miss haveing to actually buy scolls sometimes they where in out of the way places or you hacd to research em
Thieves (rogues) able to steal drops off of boss mobs. LOL at stealing the weapon the mob is using while in combat. EQ1. This feature didn't last very long ;p
Forever looking for employment. Life is rather dull without it.
Nothing chapped my ass faster than getting stuck on pixels (I.e. a rock, a blade of grass, etc.) and syign due to it. Although thsi exists in EVERY MMORPG to date too.
Like your said, more "being missed" than don't miss. But I guess if I had to pick, Id say: I don't miss the poor transportation systems.
[Edit -- Nothing pissed me off more than hitting the space bar on accident in DAOC and falling off your horse stranding you in the middle of no where. Only option was to either walk the 30 minutes to the next town, or suicide =P]
...or stranding you in the middle of a camp of purples! I REALLY hated travel in early Camelot - especially things like starting in Connla - and having to try and walk all the way to TNN. If you were lucky, some kind soul escorted you. If you weren't - you died 17 times trying to get there

You had to use disarm and be quick at looting the item off the floor for that to work. You mostly pick pocked high value trash loot (goblin ears) and the coin on the critter pre-share.
Plus it was there for years and years.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

You could actually steal the drops from the npc during the first month or so. Disarm was a different annoyance.

As many of you have said there are more things I don't miss then I do.
The most prominent one would have to be the linear nature of the old games. I love a world that you can go anywhere you want and do what you want and not be handicapped if you do that sort of exploration.
Sandbox is the future. Being able to explore with no limitation is something mmo developers are starting to embrace. You would think this would have been something they used a long time ago but for some reason it was not introduced until faily recently on the scale that makes it fun and exciting.
The very nature of humans beings is curiosity. Curiosity to figure out and find things they have never experienced. This kind of thinking allows the imagination to run wild and has become a vital part of what mmo comsumers are looking for.
I will not play a game where i spend more time waiting to play than actually playing, sorry I know that means to some old schoolers that I won't "earn" it but i don't give a crap. I go to work to earn a living and work I play games for entertainment and relaxation and i expect to be activily playing the game.
when i played EQ1 I was a no life loser so i had plenty of time for the nonsense the game offered as "features".
Forced grouping and massive downtime are the two things from EQ that I never want to see again. Both are a balance though. I think MMOs have swung too far in the opposite direction now, in that soloing is the preferred method of leveling most of the time, and there is zero downtime (I think there should at least be a little).

Which FF Character Are You?
The UI
I tried to play EQ again, but I could not get pass the UI

like someone else said ... waiting or downtime

I don't miss having fun.
Trammies need to stop polluting the MMORPG landscape. They already have enough games in which to emote hugs and sell garbage by the banks.
Explaining to my sister that using the telephone makes the internet go down?
"I want to call my friend."
"Well I'm playing a game."
"So pause it."
"You can't pause an online game!"
Chuck Norris jokes in WoW.
Raising weapon skills, conjuration, bandaging, swimming etc..
"Its better to look ugly and win than pretty and lose"
I would say UI is the only thing i dont miss...
UI is the only good thing to come out of modern MMOs.

Mobs respawning and all the issues it brings to the game.
I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been -Wayne Gretzky
Longer grind.
Little story overall.
Spawn camping.
Taking forever to get anything done.
Downtime.
Had a really slow connection speed to work with back in the day. :O
I know you said one, but forget you, brah!
