Fanatical? Hardly. I ask questions and instead of answers or logical opinions, I get flames. My pointing out that someone is a troll is not fanatical.
I can understand someone coming to these boards and voicing their opinion, even if it is pure flame, that they dont like the game (or whatever). But to keep coming back and posting the same diatribe of uneducated, illogical, or unfounded arguments is mind boggling.
Everyone here who is looking forward to DnL and is going to play in November is FULLY aware of the potential issues it MIGHT have. If someone is pointing these things out, I can assure you it isnt new information.
So if you think it will be a complete bust.......WE GET IT. Point made. Move along.

Hey if the game is so almighty good as one person has already pointed out why the <censored> can't they get a publisher. That right there is enough to make me very very wary. But then hey a fool and his money are soon parted as they say and PT Barnum said a sucker is born every minute and every time I see someone posting about how they plan on buying on release day I can see the truth in those statements.

Games are for the fans. Sites like this one should be for the fans. They are looking forward to a game, so they should always be posting! Games are recreation! and people by default should be relaxed and happy to spread their excitement.
Constant negativity will by its very nature foster the result the negativity is criticizing... i.e. constantly complaining the game will be a flop will make it a flop... many games have suffered from self fulfilled prophesies.
Make your comments in a balanced way, but give a game a chance or you just rob it of any chance anyway with all the bad vibe that is constantly generated... if you hate the game nicest thing to do is move on (if your an upright man), if you like it and want it to have a chance, keep your comments balanced, saying nothing good ever is not balanced, and will only fuel the games downfall by lowering the games population (which DnL needs to work well) even if the game is great.
If you stay (and don't want to be a troll) get some balance in your posts!

PT Barnum was right, but the sucker is staring back at you from the mirror
You can't argue with facts and the fact is this game is not ready to be launched. Period. If it was ready they would not be saying they need 6 more months of development before it goes into stores.
They are out of money and when this happens to a mmorpg project you might as well kiss it goodbye because theres way too much $ thats needed with a project like this and they will not get it from paid testers.

Fans of the games are surely welcome to this side but as this side isn't related to any special game directly the discussions here should be helpful in a buying decision and because of that there is no need in this forum to hold back any criticism. Fans of the game who doesn't want any realistc view on the game should stick to the official game forums to avoid beeing shocked by people who just don't care about any fan-feelings and instead are searching for the next game to play.
Personally I always considered game forums places for discussion. Fanbois always want it to be nothing but this game roxxors and OMG I CANT WAIT! Sorry but you guys need a soil here so I volunteer. I have been hanging around and playing games such as these since the days of the text mud, however I am becoming quite disgusted with the genre in general and a lot of that disgust stems from seeing the games being released on sorry sad states.
I do have to give NPCube kudos though, at least they have publicly stated that their game is in a sad and sorry state so maybe you are right Jadal and Blacsac, maybe I should just move along and let them be. But I probably won't because there are more people coming along discovering the game and I think those people deserve to hear that when they hear the game is only half finished, that does not mean it is missing a few quests etc. It means the game is still in a early beta or late alpha stage and they would be wise to hold onto their money or spend it on another game that will at least give them a return on their cash. As a previous poster pointed out it takes millions to develop a game and even server time and bandwidth is not cheap. NPCube will not be kept afloat from a couple of thousand fanboys donations. However I sure that a few will send them some money anyway just to say thanks for attempting to make the game.
Like I said in another post though, there will hopefully be some previews next month before launch and maybe then you will see what I am referring too here.

Let's say they raise 50 or even 100k, that will probably not be enough to cover bandwidth and other operating costs. Now if they even sell 5000 of these paid beta accounts, reality will set in real fast and they will be lucky if they retain even 1 in 5 of those initial purchases into the second month.
I will be ready to eat crow if their servers are still running after January if they keep insisting on this paid beta crap. What they really need is to try and scare up another few million in venture capitol and finish the game correctly. I think it sucks that they want the games supporters to fill that role when it absolutely cannot succeed with the amount of money they will raise in this fashion.

yeah I know I was trying to be generous with those figures. Right now most of the beta testers don't even bother to test when it's free from what I have heard.
Originally posted by Ferco "Right now most of the beta testers don't even bother to test when it's free from what I have heard"
Where did you hear this? Do you have a link or anything else to prove it?
A year ago I was oner of the games biggest fans, 4 months ago I beagn to have my doubts, after the announcement of the paid beta I became one of the games biggest slammers. I have my reasons, belive that I know what I am talking about or do not that is your choice. If you are smart though wait at least one week preferably two after the NDA is dropped before ordering whether you think I am right or wrong.
Well you didn't really give any proof as to how you know that many betatesters don't even bother to test anymore
There was no announcement of paid beta. DnL said that the game will be released in its current state. That doesn't read as Mourning II or utter crap
It sounds like you got hurt and now wish to see the game fail. As much as I understand, your statements are based on opinion not fact. I haven't seen any negative beta tester comments, which I have seen about other games. If you have a link paste it
The most believable beta tester info was when someone said that there will only be 3 kingdoms (dark, light and Al Drifa) and no political advancement system. I think the post is on these forums but I can't seem to find it.

I don't know what the outcome will be! The Devs have been honest all along... so I see them trying and I wish them luck, and to do my bit I sure arn't going to sabotage it, to give them EVERY chance... ffs we NEED ONE NEW CONCEPT GAME TO MAKE IT!
Well Blacsac look at games such as Mourning, Saga of Ryzom, Horizons, and Shadowbane. Did any of them make it? Three of them are barely hanging in there the other fell flat on it's face less than a month after release although supposedly they found a new publisher and are finishing the game.
But I think in November a thousand or so will preorder with the idea that half finished means missing some high end content or whatever are going to find the servers will be unstable, the content is almost non existent then without a NDA the word will be all over the net that DnL is a POS . I would also love to see it succeed however this pay to play beta is a bad bad bad idea and everyone including you knows that. If the Devs have any sense whatsoever they will find some VC and make it either a open free beta or stay closed until the game is fit for retail sales.
Anything else is just ripping off the fans in my opinion and puts them right down there with the Mourning Developers in as far as their integrity goes. And quite frankly that sucks, so if my posts cause even one more wide eyed kid to hold off on their preorder until they know exactly what they are buying then my mission is accomplished. Anyone that buys after the NDA is dropped has only themselves to blame if they are disappointed but you can see from the posts in this and other threads there are still some who think the game is just missing some quests etc.
"Well Blacsac look at games such as Mourning, Saga of Ryzom, Horizons, and Shadowbane. Did any of them make it?"
Well Shadowbane is still making ubisoft money.. Saga of Ryzom is still going fine.. Mourning has new VC and promised free retail boxes to all pevious orders. unless thats just a rumor.
you seem to have inside info or are in beta or saw it... do tell.

Yeah all of those games are just tremendous successes LOL. What I find really amusing is that Mourning can find VC in order to finish their game but DnL cannot. Kind of makes you wonder exactly where DnL is in development compared to Mourning doesn't it?
All of the info I have can be found easily enough by anyone. For example go check out some of Infernos posts over on the main DnL site or go back and look for some of the game sites comments on DnL at E3 last year. A week or so ago one of the disgusted beta testers had a link up to a thread from the closed beta site. These are not just one persons opinions here. There are going to be a lot of very very disappointed fanboys come November.
I heard that DnL got a 1 mill investment early this year. Thats probably why they post poned for 8 months. But it still isnt done after all that $ is gone.
mourning was only in development for like 2 years really. The entire first year was spent building the engine..

You would not happen to have a link for this would you? I wonder why they are not doing any advertising other than the Devs coming over and making "this game rulz, I cannot wait" posts if they are rolling in money.
Also I would really like to see the reasoning about how it is smart to release the game when it and it's servers are still in a rough beta/late alpha state. Seems to me as if the current trend is to push the game back until it is ready for release I mean look at what Turbine did with D&D Online and NCSoft is doing with AutoAssault. I guess some people learn from the mistakes of the past but DnL insists on trying to sell us a car with 1 wheel and no transmission.
It's going to look real smart by about late November when they lose what fanbase they have now and are the latest in the list of MMORPG list of well it could have been great list.
The lack of information is kinda bothering me this close to release, but I am still holding out hope this game might be pretty good if they can get things together. After months of playing WoW, I am pretty desperate for a decent mmorpg. I just hope this game won't be Mourning part II.
