Don't worry about all the surly fans GW fans and just email anet support and explain the situation.  I can't imagine they would fight you on this with the situation as it is.  Its not your fault they blacklisted your card after you had already bought the game.

Min. specs say 7800 and up, so you should be fine. You will probably have to lower some settings in game.

Hit them up for a refund if possible. Even if you think you can live with bad performance now, after a while it will get to you. If you can't play at all that's a whole nother story...

They have said on the beta forums though that they are looking into this and will be posting a new build to try and resolve it.  A new build was just put out, so try again now and see if you can get on.

This. As long as it's stated it's not supported and the player still goes ahead and tries to play it with an unsupported machine, that's the player's business. It shouldn't be blocked from logging in altogether.

The player just shouldn't be expecting technical support then.

    This makes me laugh...

Guild Wars 2 is a modern 3d video game.  It requires modern 3d capable hardware.

    www.tomshardware.com

You can build out a Gaming rig that will run top end stuff for like 600 bucks give or take.  For those VERY VERY VERY select few who are trying to get by on not only outdated hardware but also a friggin LAPTOP, sadly no one really cares.

Laptops have never been strong gaming platforms.  You cannot upgrade or modify them for the most part and they always ALWAYS cut corners to cram as much as they can into such a small space and save as much money as possible to raise profits.

I fully agree that any customer should be entitled to a COMPLETE refund of all money if no product has been delivered.  If the product has been delivered and the customer is unhappy, a refund should be available based on the usage the customer got out of the product.

If you purchase a Video Game and expect a refund after playing the entire game, go jump off a cliff and do the world a favor.  If you purchase a video game and within the first hour or two encounter issues making it unplayable for you or the promise product is not what you were given then a refund should be provided in full.

Contact customer support if you bought directly from Anet, they should sort you out (this was one of the devs response in the official forums on BWE2 on a similar question). Otherwise, contact your retailer.

What can men do against such reckless hate?

Just to clarify a few things. Did some looking up on my card this weekend and yes a piece. Now what happened to was I installed the game the day of beta release. Played first to betas lag wasnt the best but actally acceptable to me with settings on low. I thought maybe if i updated to 4g of ram it get better. Right before beta 3 I had some issuse with my comp. I reintstalled everything witch then lost gw2. i went to download the game client again and thats when I got the error saying my card is not spported and thus the reason why I posted this. I understand both views on my situation. It would be (nice) if they would let me try to download the client and see if theres no way to play but they dont let me even redownload the client. As ive said many of times my origanal post was inform un educated people on the intel crap cards so they dont fork money over to not even be able to down load the game. I do respect the posters here offering sugestions not just your machine is crap go away. I'll look at what the one poster said about masking my gpu to something else <best advice I herd wish more people were as helpful > Thanks.

Have you enjoyed the free beta?

It's funny how people forget what a Beta is for.  It's not a free trial even if some people only treat it as such.  Just because companies have begun basically selling Beta access via pre orders does not mean it's right.  It's just another way for the company to boost pre order sales to the "I must be first to do everything!!!" addicted crowd.

I don't want to bad mouth Intel but "always try and buy gaming laptops with ... nvidia or ATI cards..." is good advice. Like him, I made the mistake of going outside those two and have been bitten with games that I could not play.

Y'know, rather than go for a refund on a game you will have access to for years, you may want to just see this as a chance to actually get a worthwhile rig.

Decent rigs can be built for very cheap these days, compared to prices of old.

If you 'can't afford it', then it may be a good time to learn how to budget and save money.

I don't mean for this to sound condescending, but people do need to realise that gaming on a PC is well known for having hardware risks. Older gear can only handle so much, and you can only build for so low a spec depending on what the game is capable of.

People shouldn't be surprised by this, and even a good portion of us poor folk have saved for decent gaming rigs. I've been living on sweet eff all for years now, yet still managed to save over time to get a decent enough gaming rig built. It is doable.

MMO's played: Ragnarok Online (For years), WoW (for a few weeks only), Guild Wars, Lineage 2, Eve, Allods, Shattered Galaxy, 9 Dragons, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Star Trek Online (Got someone ELSE to pay for it), Champions Online (Someone else paid), Dofus, Dragonica, LOTRO, DDO and more... A LOT more. I've played good AND bad. The bad didn't last long. :P

Ya new rig would be nice, tho having a wife and 4 kids dosnt even leave an extra $600 laying around. We go through 6 gallons of milk in almost a week :( my daughters braces for her teeth set me back 5k. Guess I should took of my skirt got a new rig and told the daughter she looks beutiful with her crooked teeth.

There were issuse in the first betas but was still able to play. Now anet has decided to blacklist the card saying they wont suport it so my options are new comp or refund. Weird that I can play Rift and other various new games and not Gw2. There could be a chance they change there minds and figure how to make them work like the other betas but I dobt it.

They did not blacklist it. You can still play on it, if the laptop can handle it. I have a laptop with intel 4 series, and it ran the game (with a little lag) in all 3 BWE, in closed beta, etc. Glad it isnt my main computer though. Did you try minimizing the amount of processes open while play? They were pretty open since closed beta, that that system was below minimum requirements, too :)

EDIT: Most laptops have WAY too many uneccessary processes running all the time, so you might want to taskmanager and investigate what every process is for and which ones you could potentially kill before playing GW2 :)

Hmm seeing this thread with some smart people in it i wanne ask a question also :) !

    I use a I7 extreme 920 with 6 gig ram + a HD radeon 4850

My wife use a AMD 3000 OC with 3 gig ram and a  Nvidia HD 120

On the latest BWE3 my pc dint pull it off on Friday with a average FPS of 10/15

    She had 30 FPS :P

Saturday after the patch My system was better as i rached 25 / 45 FPS

My wife still had 30 fps

The textures like plants and grass looked like ugly square pixels most of the time.

How come my system dint run as smooth as her system ?

All other games i play where fine btw, no problems.

I realy hope this wasnt the final built for release as man, that would mean one ugly world to walk in.

Setting used varried alot, from high ingame to low ingame from high in Ati Catalyst to low in ati Catalyst, it all dint matter much :(

Refund for what reason? They have posted minimum and recommended SPECS for a while now, way before BWE#1 started.  If the person's hardware doesn't meet or match those,  and they still purchased the game, who's fault is that?  It's like buying a car before doing your driving test for your license.  That's only the operator's fault, not the developer's.

and whered u get those specs way before BWE#1? because I been following the game a very long long time and they never officially announced the specs till lately on their site.

Not to get involved in the topic of the thread, but Specs were put up in mid March.  I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the first beta weekend was in mid/late April.

It should be fairly obvious that attempting to play a game with Intel Integrated graphics is a poor decision.

It never ceases to amaze me when people act surprised that this level of chipset is incapable of offering sufficient power to run games as they are intended.

Personally I don't think ArenaNet should offer any form of refund.

Are those fanboys serious? free beta? seriously? Eivi just contact Anet through their site and ask them for a refund because you don't meet the minimum requirements. I'm sure you'll get it.

    Thought Id post this

I wonder what type of computer ANet used to create and play the game?

I'm not sure this has any relevance that I am willing to point out, but at work we find the customers that have the weakest, crappiest, oldest computers are also the customers that are the most demanding.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

As of now i cant even down load the game client without it stopping and saying my card dosnt meet requirnments yet the first 2 betas I could play with minor lag. I can play rift on this comp no problems. To me and others it seems like they had issuses and rather then adressing said issues they are turning us away. A. we should of never been able to play bw1 and bw2 but we could, now we cant even play the game peiord. Like I said this was more of a warning to other gamers I still love gw2 and will be playing on an other desktop I have, just would of been nice to play on this comp with my son is all. Weird these days that comp makers cant keep up with these games or choose to put crap cards in. One gals sony vio is only 1 year old and shes srewed as well.

It is your fault for not paying attention to the minimum specs required dude, they were posted way before the pre-purhcase option was available.

On the issue of you being able to play the 1st BWE with that crappy thing you call a video card, I'm glad they implemented security at the client level to prevent those that don't meet the minimum requirements to DL the game, for obvious reasons.

you might be impacting the game negatively, making for example W v W or PVE world more laggy than it should be who knows. But I trust they had good reasons to prevent you and others that don't bother with minimum requirements at all.

minimum system specs have been in use for as long as I can remember, do you blame the companies everytime you want to play a game and it doesnt work because you think you should be able to play them all on a crappy video card, regardless of what the developer himself is telling you is the minimum requirement ? if you don't have money to upgrade your system maybe you should've put that money into buying a slightly better system 1st, one that at least meets the minimum requirements.

But don't come here and bitch about something that is entirely your own fault, you just want to make it sound like it's arenanet's problem....

Note: Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.
