GW2 More Bug Infested Now than in Beta

kadepsysonkadepsyson Member UncommonPosts: 1,919

The mail system doesn't work as it should.

The Trader has been down for hours, and when it was up, it was in German on US servers.

Several events are impossible due to nonfunctioning NPCs, key enemies not spawning, or broken mechanics - this includes skill point tasks.

Vistas have become nearly impossible for me.  Sometime between the last beta weekend and early access a bug was introduced that makes it so whenever my character is in close proximity to a wall, fence, or anything that'd stop him from walking in that direction, the camera no longer follows the character.  This means that my camera is pointing at a wall I touched, while my character runs off into the distance.  I have to complete Vista jumping activities like this.

Overflow still seperates parties, sometimes without allowing them to reconnect with each other in the same instance.  It reminds me of when I first discovered GW1 was all instances, but only more annoying and non-functional.

Most of these issues are new to launch.  Not all of them are due to more players.  The excuse "it's just a beta, it'll be fixed by launch" no longer applies.

When the game is working correctly, it's hard to stop playing it's so much fun.  It's awesome to enjoy some of the larger boss events.  The things that stick out most are either hard to find in other MMOs such as these boss fights, the working together with random people, or are things that dont' work correctly and cause frustration.

Any MMO player who thinks that a launch must be bug free is deluding himself. Excepting some small issues (AH not working, some initial lag), the game had a very solid launch. I am sure the remaining launch issues will be ironed out quickly.

I have no complaints so far. I have a solid 50 FPS even during heated WvW, I have not encountered any bugs so far (excluding a funny twisted torso visual glitch during a SPvP match). I am almost 25 now, and I have not encountered a single quest or event I couldn't do due to bugged scripts/NPCs.

I do agree with the overflow issues. I hope they balanced server loads through servers a bit better, to reduce this problem.

It's not so much that I wanted a bug-free launch, as it is that I'd have preferred them to not introduce more bugs for launch :P

It's still really fun.  The core gameplay is great.  I was just thrown off by these new issues.  The camera one seems to only affect me - nobody in map chats has mentioned having it as well when I asked at least.

I'm sure they'll fix most of them.  The trader, mail, and events will probably come a lot quicker than my wall issues though ha.

I'm having fun.  Who really cares about the auction house 24 hours after the game releases anyway?  In 2 weeks everyone will have forgotten this every happened

Problems are always annoying, but we must understand that bugs WILL happen, in any MMO. Live server load is differnet from stress test loads, and can cause all sorts of strange things. In fact, I am surprised by the whole stability of it all, thus far.

Like another poster said, it will be fixed quickly, and we'll forget about this very fast.

The OP didn't mention anything about expecting the game to be completely bug free.

Haven't messed with the auction house and had not a problem yet besides a laggy minute or two when the servers first opened. The game has been super smooth with no bugged quest so far for me and I already finished three zones 100%. Just doing pve though so no idea how pvp is going.

I wasn't saying that as a direct accusation, but as a general statement. Is that a sin?

Don´t worry, I´m sure none of the bribed 10/10 reviews will mention the plethora of broken quests.

Oh, you were just making general statement. I didn't realize that. I assumed you were responding to the OP since you...responded to the OP.

Any other nuggets of wisdom completely unrelated to what's being discussed in this thread that you'd like to share?

The mail and tradepost issues are linked with the lag and login issues we had at the start of the headstart.

Your camera can be fixed by messing with your settings. It does that to me as well while running on eyefinity. I changed a few settings and it seems to be ok now.

The overflow issue you are having is again due to load and lag. Requests don't always get dealt with due to the load and the overflow servers themselves are packed pretty much as much as they can be.

Actually, I haven't had any bug issues today (saturday) and I played from about 8am to 9pm with several breaks in between.  The only complaint I have at this time is the fact that I couldn't let the gay sylvari couple get killed, because two men that love each other like that shouldn't both be total bitches.

I have to agree with the OP.  The last beta ran mostly smoothly and now things are a mess.  Things aren't getting fixed quickly and if there are server issues now, just wait a couple days and then a day after that when they pick up additional people.  The issue of groups being split between overflow and regular servers is something that occured in beta and should have been worked on prior to now.

ArenaNet can't really afford to make a bad initial impression as the company is putting most of their eggs in the GW2 basket.  They aren't making expected income on their other games.  A great deal of their future income is based on the in-game store in GW2 so when their bread and butter isn't even working properly they are not starting off on the right foot.

The fact that mail, the trading post, and guilds aren't functioning properly should be throwing up some major red flags.  These are key ways users interact with each other and having them all down should definitely be lighting a torch under someone's behind to get things fixed.  There doesn't seem to be the rush to fix the items that there should be, and status updates are next to non-existent.  The people you have playing now are the ones who have been on the ride for this game to go live for a long time, and frankly they deserve better treatment than they are getting.

The game has enough flaws in it when it's working properly, that they don't need to go from hero to zero before they even go totally live.

Since there is no sub fee, they'll eventually sell bug fixes together with "major updates" in the cash shop. One way or another, they will try to  get to your money, F2P is just an illusion.

"Buy version 1.1 with new areas and the following bug fixes: ..... "

Hi Guild Wars 2 players, here is a list of the ongoing issues that are being worked on by our teams right now.

Our number one priority at present is to fix issues that are preventing players from accessing the game. Issues resulting in error code 7, error code 21, error code 58 and error code 1038, all have answers at the following link http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994.

Anyone experiencing issues with error code 42 should wait a few minutes and try to reconnect to the game servers, as this issue is known and related to connectivity.

Players experiencing error codes 9 or 45, please contact costumer support at your earliest convenience. http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/ask/

We are also aware of some players receiving errors resulting in code 1032 that is related with world transfer operations. These transfers are working but experiencing some delays, please refrain from trying to transfer if you are currently able to play. We also have a team working on this issue as a priority.

Other issues that are being solved are those related with the trading post system, guild issues and party issues on overflow servers. All of them are being looked over by our teams and we will update you when there is new information about the status of the issues.

Thanks everyone for the comprehension! ~DO

Hmm OP never said he is expecting a bug free MMO. All he said was that GW2 has more bugs now than it had in beta.

I have to agree with the OP.

Someone posted they had the camera issue and fixed it with settings?  How?

I am enjoying the game, simply suprised by seeing some old bugs pop back in at 'launch'.  Will be interesting how much they get it cleaned up by the 28th for the rest of the world.

It's alright though because it's Guild Wars 2. If it were another game people would have the pitchforks and torches out by now but because this game turns water into wine it's fine... Everything is ok... It is all flowers and sausages...

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Actually can't say it was unexpected. Yes, they tested extensively but ... we are now have a few million players and it's not even launch. All servers are high or full with most being full and again it's not even launch just yet lol. These are just the headstart people. You can plan as much as you want but this many people at once can cause problems for even the most seasoned in the industry. At least I'm not falling through the world and or losing anything like in several other launches. So far it's just been minor issues which I can accept.

    Probably because you can login.

If you were one of those that can't login, I would imagine it would be a different story.

For my part, we did not have any lag until about four hours after it launched.  There were a few bugs but nothing that stopped my wife and I from enjoying the game.  And there was a time when we were getting kicked what seemed like every time we turned around.  Yes the mail system did take dump "unavailable" became the nasty word of the day.  But for game play, we had no issues that actually stopped us from playing.

This is perhaps the best launch of any MMO style game in years.

Only issue I have (now that I can log in that is) is the overflow keeping groups split up. We kinda worked around it by standing on the same spot in our respective instances and logging out / logging in until we could see each other. A far from perfect solution - especially if someone has to zone anywhere or relog at any point and the whole exercise has to start over. Hope they fix this soon.

Only bug I've came across (except the trading post being down and overflow problems) is a floating tree I found.

GW2 doesn't officially launch until Tuesday, so this is technically still beta.  Bugs are acceptable.  These issues may all be worked out by 28th.

That said, precisely because MMO players do not expect - and demand -  a bug-free launch is why so many games launch as crap.  MMO players enable poor company behavior.  There is no reason not to expect a thoroughly tested  and flaw-free product when purchased, whether it be a new car, a television or a computer game.  If you bought a TV in which the remote did not work, the colors were all out of whack and would only tune 6 channels, how quickly would you return that to the place of purchase?

    Demand first-time quality, everytime.

Just started having this problem today.  Trying to play with my wife, but nothing we've tried seems to work.  It just keeps us seperated.  Total gamebreaker, for us :(

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
