the fanbois for this game are really ruining it for me. it's like 99.5% of the community is blind. the game is good. i'm not saying that. but it's not going to last. that's all people are saying. there is one place for end-game. dynamic events get boring after level 20. the pvp is dull unless you're doing tournaments and OH WAIT - those are down. WvWvW is fun for the first week, and then it also gets pretty damn boring because - there is no real objective. 5% stats? oh man!
it's a good solid game like a boxed xbox game would be. but once beaten it's on the shelf. it's not going to last. quit bashing people for seeing the truth
I don't get it. Why the need to rush to level 80? Seriously, the game has a story that spans 80 levels, it's not Anets fault if you're an impatient little snot who apparently can't appreciate a beautifully made game. No mmo comes with a wide endgame content. If you have to rush to top level in every game, then suit yourself. I mean, it's like putting on your underwear, but leave them at your ankles and then complain about feeling naked.

Originally posted by Mephster I bet they thought players wouldn't reach higher end content so far. There were players who were level 80 by the time the head start was over, which is why this guy says the end game content isn't finished. It isn't.

No, you don't get it. I'm tired of reading your opinion over and over again, that's all. It's not even constructive, since Arenanet has always been pretty clear about how the endgame would be in this game.

No offense if you have but they probably didn't expect people to reach 80th and be complaining about "end of the game content" in the first week of release. I doubt they'll focus on it much either given they're still sorting out launch issues. Why rush through the game anyways when you know there probably wont' be end game content ready. No mmo ever does.
All WOW had was Stratholme, UBRS & Scholo & yes people used to raid that with 20 people in vanilla wow. When they finally released Molten Core people were wiping at the zone in for awhile.
That was soooo 2004 - times change and these game developers need to change as well- they know people rush to endgame now and if they dont give decent endgame content, they are only shooting htemselves in the foot!
They need to have this in place as a very large portion of the gaming community does this now and they need to adapt ... this is 2012 now! they have had many many years ot see how mmo change and how people have changed!
STOP using a dinasour of a game called WoW to base things on- that was when mmos where failry new to the masses, They are mainstream now and developers need to cater to these or end up going star wars the old republic way and loosing out bigtime!
Do not think people will forgive.. the Star wars old republic should be a warning to every game company out there!

Seriously this game was built from the ground up around easy levelling, I am sure they knew that after a week of solid playing people would be at the "End of the Game". The only way not to rush through the game is not play it, everything you do dumps XP on you. Harvesting, Exploring, Jumping, Crafting, DEs, PvP, killing Mobs, etc...

Having a limited to no endgame is no excuse. It sucks that new games are held to a higher standard then older games in that the new games have to have just as much to do when they first come out for end game content. It is true though, people will get bored and move on to games with more to do. People don't like waiting and they shouldn't its our money and its our time and we want to have fun.
Its also funny how people are attacking the OP saying its his fault for reaching level 80 so fast. Its his game he can play how ever he wants to have fun. I can't believe how shallow people are attacking him saying he ruined the game. Please....
Hey lets all have a little reality check here please.
Sure he got to the end quickly, does that excuse them from not having it working? No.
Does this game have "endgame?" Well sure there is content but its buggy, that seems rather par for the course for mmos, does that excuse it every time it happens? No it doesn't.

i'm curious OP what is your map completion %, how many of the dungeons have you done?, how many crafting profs did you reach 400 in? how many legendary weapons you got? how many classes you level? my guess is you still got a lot of content left in this game

Perhaps he has. I don't really care. But noone told him to rush to level 80 in no time at all, like he has apparently done. There's tonnes of stuff to do on the WAY to level 80, which apparently he has competely ignored on his speedy gonzales tour through the game.
I just dont know how people get through stuff so fast. I am level 10. Ha. Lots left to do. Not a lot of time to do it in. Suites me. I cant devote 40 hours a week to a game like I could when i was younger.

My problem with this reply is that not everyone likes to "explore" or to "grind"
I mean thats what getting a legendary in this game is akin to, its like an end game grind in most other games.
And the map % stuff, I mean not everyone has this wanderlust feeling that some of us get. I know plenty of people who loath crafting, no mater what you do to make it fun they don't wanna play that meta game.
And isn't leveling another class just doing a tiny fraction of new story content with mostly the same meat to the story? I mean the personal story will be different but you still need to redo a lot of the same content.
If someone is only into the game for the story there really is not a whole lot to do once you get to max level. That being said that is true about most MMOs.

you could easily level 2 characters and hardly see any of the same content at all..I have done several starting zones numerous times now and each time was a little bit differn't and I saw differn't events I missed or didn't run into the time before... my point was there's is a ton of stuff to do in this game I just never get the people who rush to cap and get pissed theres not enough to do.. good thing with this game is with scaling all zones are still relevant at 80. My guildy's are doing the shatterer right now and having a ball.
I'm sure Orr has some bugs at it was the least mass tested zone out there.. Most every MMO I have ever played the higher level zones had more bugs than the lower level ones. Either way there is still plently of things out there to do and fill out your time in this game..

No offense but developers SHOULD not and DO NOT create their games for the very small amount of people who rush through content to max lvl. They develop content with the main curve of the playerbase in mind.
Truth is a mmo developer can not keep content coming out fast enough to satisfy the people who rush to endgame. They are gaming locusts of sorts, there will never be enough for them.
Also people who are rusihing to endgame and skipping out on tons of content or do not like PvP at all have set themselves up for failure simply because the intent of GW2 was not on building a top heavy game with raiding being the main game focus along with gear progression.
The problem with GW2 is not the power gamers rushing to 80, they really do not matter and developers know they can not keep those players happy, if anything those players simply help serve the developers in that it shows them what needs to work and what is working well for when the main playerbase gets there. If thoe power gamers leave, who cares. In fact it is less important since GW2 is a B2P game.
The real problem for GW2 will be the core gamers who are so used to the WoW gaming model hitting 80 and not knowing what to do. I see posts now from people who love the game but rished to 80 and are confused since there is not the typical raiding treadmill.
TDLR: Developers do not make their games for the power gamers and know full well that they can not churn out content at the rate that these gaming types devour the content. To most developers this minority of the playerbase is not all that important. The money comes from the core gamers, people who advance at what developers predicted to be a normal time frame, they buy stuff from cash shops or stay subbed longer due to them not racing to endgame and working on other tasks outside of powerleveling.
Well that Endgame is broken then. Everywhere I look in Orr I see broken DE's. This Tortage and AoC all over again. This is most certainly why Arenanet doesn't have forums and is keeping a tight lid on the situation.
The only thing you can really do now is reroll. I'm a little dissapointed to say the least.
Yet another comapny releases an unfinished product and has no trouble selling it to us at full price.
Please tell me why you continue to play a game that from your posts you obvoiusly really don't like then consistently trash it in forums? Seriously why?
And on topic I can't really speak on Orr cause I'm not 80 yet but I've heard some pretty epic storys about what it's like from players. However they say that they can see where alot more players are going to be needed for most of it to have alot of fun.

If WoW was released today even in its' entirety it would be f2p in 3 months. Why is it still such a big deal?

Correct in Orr is not as well tested and the one real use developers have from power gamers is that they are free endgame testers for them so that can have the endgame stuff more finely polished when the core gamers get to that point.
No offense, but "People shouldn't rush that fast to 80" does not stand. If developers didn't create content because of that reason, where have they been for the last 10 years? Quite a few people rush to 80. Developers should've gotten used to that by now.You should have endgame ready to consume.

Balancing for speed racers is always a failstate. They will never be satisfied. They are an extreme end of a bell curve. Not liking the end game is not the same as having no endgame.
Reading up on this game, it was pretty evident what the endgame would be. It's also clear from GW1 that it will be developed some over time. Four days is not 'time'.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

i dont fault the Op for being 80 already - its his playstyle
there are two people in my guild that are already 80 too
neither of them had any complaints about Orr, but experiences will vary
like other have said, the endgame is buggy but it doesnt sound like its lacking content
to bring a 2012 game for comparison
i thought TSW had similar issues with their upper level "challenge mode" dungeons?
its not wrong to have an expectation for all game content be bug free
but it's very typical in ALL NEW MMOS that the end game is unpolished
