Ended in Hate. But stop lying, you can't possibly be a casual player and get to 20 in a week or two.Look at the exp tables yourself, check around, see how long it takes to solo one stone golem with a mage on the human island working from level 1-20... Or any where you hunt.I had surgery and got this game before hand so I would have something to do while I healed. I played more then 18 hours in a day and played every day with nothing else to do...still took months to get to level 44 with my prophet, and healers level fast because they are party players and parties get more exp.I spent 25-35 in level 1 cruma and that took less time then 1-20, but I was only gaining 1 1/2 levels a day playing about 14-18 hours of solid exp. For you who say the real game doesn't start till you're 50 or higher.... So the real game doesn't start till you've played for months?Sorry I think most people want a game that starts ... now.
hehe, good post

1 1/2 levels a day playing 14-18 hours of solid exp? What the hell were you killing?
Now I don't consider myself a Lin2 God by any means, but up until 36 or so, I could easily get 2 levels a day during summer with only about 10 hours of gameplay.
I agree, it's a very steep treadmill. I'm not saying it's not. I'm simply saying, the dreadmil is "right next to the floor," if you get my drift. You just take a step on and you're ready to go. With other games, you have to "jump" to it before you can start grinding--such as, finding a group or finishing quests or other means of devoting time.
Like I said, I could log on ANY time of the day, already be at a hunting place, and just start going to work, and then log off any time.
Not sure if I'm making too much sense in this post, but I hope you can grasp the jist of it.

Levels, until you reach level 40, mean absolutely nothing in Lineage 2.
The mistake most people make when they start out it to try to level - level - level.
What you need to do is make a dwarf and spend about a week spoiling mobs and doing the manor system. The first couple of days just save your money and de-level yourself to stay around level 7 or 8 once you do the quest for the mid-to-good weapon.
Then just hunt, spoil, and do the manor system. You can make an easy 100K a day doing this. Now you have the money to make the character you really want (if you don't want to play the dwarf). You can buy you chracter the best non-grade weapon, soulshots, armor and healing pots. If you don't make a mystic (which need mana rest too often) you can easily level to 15 in about 3 hours. It might take you about 3 more hours to go from level 15-20, where you can do your first class change. If you had done the manor system smartly with your new level 20 character, you should have enough money to buy decent D grade gear which you will use til level 40.
The name of the game is not levels . . . not before level 40 . . . but to get the best possible equipment you can get and to save as much adena as possible. Patience is a MUST in Lineage 2. You have to work at your character . . . and there is a real sense of accomplishment if done right.

L2 has ripped off every anime stereotype in existence from japonese anime series, WoW´s gfx are based off the 3 games and several expansions that came before it, its gfx fit perfectly with the game world and lore. The free servers are ok, the game in general is really just a "how not to" make a mmo. There are some great concepts here, but when you actually try to play the game it falls flat on it's face.
Iv been thinking of playing linage 2 the grinding dose not put me off as i enjoy that as it makes the games LIFE alot longer as said on games like WoW imo only have a short life and is just a noob game tbh =p (yes i have got a lvl 60 on WoW) and back to the grinding i think that it can be enjoyable just to get a grp of friends and go on a little hunt for hours did it many many times on MIR 3 (played that game way to much talking 10 hours aday for 8 months) and what i hate is peeps saying i hate bla bla bla game because i dont like to have to send lots of time on my charr well some peeps DO OK!!

You may call it insanity but I see it differently.
First off some people will watch TV for more then 3 hours a day and watching TV lacks interaction. Others spent that same amount of time in the pub or clubhouse. It all boils down to what you think is or is not something you want to do.
I allready mentioned I can play up to 14 hours a day during the weekend but then again I can as I make the time for it. I like it that way. Think of it as doing a sport. Atleets would most likely do a sport for that same time-share (playing chess is a sport too for example).
In a good clan you have to do more then watch a screen (unlike watching TV) doing raids/PvP and what not. You have to interact with the game to make things happen (unless you are the kind of guy/girl that likes to use programs like L2walker). In L2 like a pub or clubhouse you can communicate with others with the added value of being able to chat with people accross the globe. Again i don't see that as a reason for mental/physical destruction.
May I ask you to keep things in prespective and not get on the soapbox telling people they are insane for a way of live?

I define a sport as something that involved physical activity. I dont consider chess a sport, its a game. Sitting crouched infront of your computer 14 hours a day is unhealthy, no matter how you look at it. Doesnt matter what you do ingame, its still sitting alone infront of your screen klicking your mouse away for 14 hours. But hey, if you think it will contribute to your well being and your future endevours, more power to you.
The fact that you compare yourself to a professional athlete is just.. well, sad comes to mind.

The definition of "sport" can be viewed in any ones mind a differant way. Some will say the sport of chess is a "game" others may not. Sure if you look up the word sport in a dictionairy it would say a "physcial activity". However one could argue that snooker, darts, pool are games then too. I think the people envolved in these "games" do see they activity as a "sport" as they even can earn a living with it.
Bottomline is that people choose the live they live. Whether or not it is according to your definetion of "live" in general is another story. My view of "insane" could be a parachute-jumper tho this would be a sport too.
Another arguement would be: Did you ever consider that "atlete's" doing a physcial sport like say tennis/badminton/squash or what not could be part of the L2-community that may be dedicted to this game too? As they can be pretty compatitive in their sport the possiblity is there that they are compatitive in MMORPG's. Burn the soapbox and respect the views/way of live of others.
Yeah, this game is really bad.. just moving around the world had me tearing my hair out in frustration. I only had the patience to reach level 20 before I uninstalled this garbage.

The only thing I can think that you are referencing is the "point and click" method of moving your character. In an article I read it stated tht Koreans like this method which is the reason that it is method used.
Once you start pvping you realize it actually works very well, one hand on your F keyys for skills, etc and the other to move and target.

I certainly found the game lacking. graphics were good but character choices were severely limited. You could have a great looking toon, but it looked like everyone elses. No variation in height/build, skin color, etc. (for an example of what I think good is, think city of heroes) PVP all the time, was a pain. Too many 12 year olds running around killing starter toons for fun. No effective control on this anti-fun anti-social behaviour. Not much limitation on startertoons using advanced weapons and gear. Questing is limited. Typical starter quests (kill many small creatures to advance) at medium levels just bigger creatures. No or extremely limited fun quests. (no I dont consider killing 100 wolves for semi-rare drops to be fun) A little of this mixed in is fine, too much is a grind. This entire game is a grind. I advanced several characters beyound lvl 20, but dealing with randomly being killed by slightly higher level characters with much better gear, who would ambush my toon got a little tiring. I like the pvp thrill as much as the next guy, but just once I woulda liked a semi-fair fight. Anyways, Ive played many better games, and I had some others to try out, so I kissed off my $50 investment and got out while I still had hair left.
However... even though the graphics are extremely good, there is very little cusomizatioin, yes... I do believe that for some, getting ganked by someone 20 lvls above you can get tiring, and true... the quests leave something to be desired.
If you are looking for a hardcore game where you love pvp and don't mind people killing you because you plan to get them back, then this is your game.
The entire game is fueled by the interaction of the players. So, unlike games that are more quest driven, L2 allows people to create their own issues and strife and thus a pallette to get each other any way they can.
So yes... not for everyone... I know they are working on a Lineage 3... using the new Unreal Engine. Perhaps they will take some lessons from this game and apply them to the next.
I know that I've told support about my concerns regarding the gameplay. Perhaps if others do the same then they will take this into account for the next one.

In c3, a casual player, takign advantage of the noob buffs, the free shots and the weapon upgrades, you can get your character to 20 in about a week.
lvling to 20 is so easy now.

I devote atleast 2-3 hours a day to the game tho my social live = no-existent att as i have a full time job etc in RL too.
Those that think playing 28 hours during the weekends is to much...
I do this about every week but I do it at the keyboard not with the use of that detestable L2Walker. Either play the game or don't.
If you can't see youself doing the time then I suggest you move to a more suited game.
The free servers are ok, the game in general is really just a "how not to" make a mmo. There are some great concepts here, but when you actually try to play the game it falls flat on it's face.
P.S.
I love the art.

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power
Punctuation is your friend.. Playing games for anything more then 3 hours a day is borderline insanity. You are destroying yourself both mentally and physically, its quite sad..

Thanks.

Have played:

Rigghawk
Rigghawk
I actually have to agree with you RiggHawk.
And I have gotten my toon too lvl 67.
However... even though the graphics are extremely good, there is very little cusomizatioin, yes...
