Yup, I do. I've stopped playing my beloved EQ2 because for the first time ever, there is an actual Star Wars MMO. Currently level 19 doing errands for Jabba, can't wait to get home and do some more. Commando is the class I've chosen, level 21 I get to wear blast armor, can't wait. image

Be aware AA, there are zero quests or content once you reach 30...  The figured they didn't need to put in anything past lvl 30...

From what I hear there are tons of quests after level 30. They can be found through out the galaxie such as Kashyyyk and Mustafar. I guess you forgot about all the old quests that are out there and are still there.

Its time to start using some common sense....

They saw this coming people. They knew that most of the vets would bolt when this new system hit. It is designed to appeal to a new playerbase. They cut professions in order to free up people to work on content. They put in content up to lvl 30 to give the new players stuff to do while they work on content for the rest of the levels.

I for one am glad that they have finally realized the importance of making the game mean something. The whole "make your own content" philosophy just didnt work. There simply arent enough free thinking open minded RP loving folk playing these games anymore.

They have seen the success that WOW has enjoyed with this same concept and naturally they want a piece.

Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.

ur not the only the one
im a vet,i got this game a week after he came out
and played in it for a yeah and a half, quited
and now i tried the trail
its fun,the game "feel" more star wars :P
the game always had a lack in content
now u realy got some thing to do,exept standing near the missions terminal and shout for 10 minuts "lfg" :P
the only thing that bother me is that there are to much jedis, and lack of options to choose in professions

I'm with you AnarchyArt, I bought the game the day it came to stores in my area. I played for about 2 months from then and cancelled my account. About a year later, the same thing. Now, I never got very far on any of my characters (and I prefer to start over if I'm gone for awhile) so I created a new account with the 10-day trial and resubscribed (that offer got me hooked- just subscribe and get SWG+JTL 'free' :D). I love the new combat system but I don't like the new professions as much. I prefer the old profession system because it seemed more skill based rather than level based.

My question is for the Jedi profession. I hear people talking about your skills being level based. Can you choose whether or not you can be a dark or light Jedi? If there is, is there a difference in the skills between the two? For example..The Dark Jedi can weild Force Lightning while the Light Side Jedi cannot, but has light sided powers.
  • anarchyartanarchyart Member Posts: 5,378

I think choosing Imperial through your quest progression will eventually make you dar Jedi, but I could be wrong.

Last night after midnight I got a little farther along in my first Imperial quest. You have to find the pieces of a demolished R2 unit (image) that has some sensitive information or something. It takes you all over Tatooine. I got to some caves where I had to find one of the parts from the destroyed robot and was amused to find 4 swoops and a couple of BARCs parked outside from people inside doing the quest.

I got inside and the mobs were all blue con and were great exp for my Commando. I hooked up with a Bounty Hunter inside who had all uber gear. Grouped up we did great and it was a blast!

Whoever pulled would get aggro but with both of us blasting we finished them off fast. We got way into the caves where and old Hermit Rhodan was, and there were a bunch of burnt out R2 parts. I checked them over but couldn't find what I was looking for so I talked to the old man. Apparently he is part of some Jedi quest of some sort. Luckily the guy I teamed up with took a closer look at one of the crates, it seems the part I was looking for was sitting on top of the crate in a small box. He had a last name Fett and I thanked him profusely as he saved me at least an hour I would have wasted by going everywhere else in the caves again. I'll have to play a bit closer attention to detail from not on.

After that part, Watto informed me that the final piece of the R2 unit, the motivator, was in the possession of none other than Jabba himself. So, for the next part of my quest, I will have to earn favor with Jabba's court to get to meet him face to face. Can't wait hehe I got to Jabbas Hut (pun intended) late last night near Mos Vegas and I'm sure the place is very familiar to those who play SWG, but it was my first time there and it was damn frickin kewl. Was at night and Seeing his palace appear on the Horizon was ominous and took me back to Return of the Jedi. The gates open up and man it's just damn kewl.

I'm just loving the NGE so far, I played till 3 am last night, the quests are very addicting. Suffering today because of it but I don't care, was worth it finally seeing Jabbas pad finally. I love how the new quests take you to all the points of interest that I would probably not have seen for a lot longer in the old system.

I haven't played neither one of those, but I would suggest the BH. The Spy I have been told can't remain in stealth for very long and in my opinion stealth should be your #1 weapon. So for now BH, maybe later after they rework the Spy class to fit his role a little better I'd choose Spy.

The Bounty Hunter I was playing with was kicking major butt. He was killing them faster than me(commando) and I was a level higher than him. I'm loving the questing and playing in the post NGE Star Wars universe. Only thing that could have took me away from EQ2 and CoV. Finally it's an actual Star Wars  MMO. image

I agree. It's a step forward from what it used to be and I like it. I would have changed some things though. There should be 2 different sets of skills for Jedi. One set for Dark Jedi which would be all Dark Side Powers and one set for Jedi which would be all Light Side powers.

I wish they also had dark and light options for quests. I can't do some of the quests on the station because they are smuggler or go kill this humanoid thing on another station for blood samples. A Jedi wouldn't undertake a quest like that, so since i'm RP a Jedi I won't either.

wait a minute, wait a minute...maybe I haven't been reading through the SWG forums for quite some time since I gave it up a year ago, but are you saying (please don't flame me for this) that they did away with that horrid skill based system and replaced it with a leveling mill (which is fine by me)? I have the original SWG installed with a few chars already on there, I think one wa a bounty hunter etc etc, whatever. What do I need to get i.e. expansion packs etc? What happens to my chars that are currently on there now?

Yes and no. This appears to be their intention, doing away with some of the skill based and making it a CL grind. But I'm still waiting to see if they will finally get to work and finish what they started this time.

You and me both.   In 2 years they haven't added diddly for content but 3 dungeons and a broken storyline.  It's hard to believe they're serious about it now.   image

First off I wouldn't play your old characters anymore. You would have to go through the trouble of respeccing and would miss all the new content that was added with the NGE. Yes the skill based system is gone and the level system has been implemented. All you need to play is the original box that you have bought. You will receive Jump to Lightspeed as a free download. All this will be patched into your computer once you try signing in, but after you have subscribed. If you don't want to start over, which I would recommend since its a different UI and game controls, you can just respec. If you do this I would recommend buying Trials of Obi-Wan, which is only available online. This would make leveling from lvl 80-90 allot easier.

Well wake up and play the game. They just added 30 levels of content if you start a new character and then you seem to forget about all the content on Kashyyyk and the new content on Mustafar. Not to mention the boring content that is spread out throughout the galaxy that came out with the first game. So this means you only need to grind 30 out of 90 levels which is a huge amount of content compaired to the other MMORPG's on the market.

But what YOU fail to understand is that none of the quests other than Mustifarce, and the first nooblevels were EVER set up for the nge. They plain don't work now. They weren't adjusted, and most are now bugged. None.. Zilch.

I hope they resolve that soon. Frankly though I don't care. No one really should be between the 30-79 range right now. Unless ofcourse you either weren't 80 when this happend or your a powergamer. If your a powergamer you should be going out and getting some exercise and enjoying life more than living at your computer long enough to get to 30 in less than a week. This NGE has been out for 6 days now and I'm level 5. I think by the time I get to 30 that stuff will be fixed. I know I'm on the extreme part of the leveling spectrum and that I'm taking the really casual route, but I've been down the powergamer route myself and speak from experiance. I was grinding 3million xp a day for conversion to FS xp. Yes everyday I did that and it took between 3-6 hours to accomplish this depending on if I got in a good spin group or not. So hell I'm taking my time and enjoying the game instead of rushing through it.

Yes they did away with the skill box filling and now it's a level based game with specific skills you gain so all classes the same level will have access to the same skills. It's so friggin fun and I have heard PVP is a blast too. Your characters will still have all their stuff, ADK's have been changed into respec kits and your characters will already have a 10 shot nodrop respec kit and your character will need to respec once upon first login. You don't need any expansion packs and Jump to lightspeed is now free.
