Just wondering how many MMORPG members are males or females.
Umm, probably a guess, on the % of mmorpg craze between genders.

A majority of MMORPG players are male unfortunately.
not to be sexist. But whenever I am with friends, and a girl comes in the picture...she is ussually the one to suck at the game we are playing..Just saying the majority of the time girls arn't that great at Video games,or MMO's..but thats only because they really have no interest in them.
If you had no interest in something you were doing...you wouldn't try to do well in it either if you think about it.

I was actually surprised to find out just yesterday that one of the women who work next door to me plays MMOs. She used to play counterstrike.
And she wasn't your stereotypical overweight, acne covered ect ect that male gamers believe every female gamer is. She's actually rather beautiful. It just surprised me because she works at a salon and almost every one of the females over there is prissy and stuck up. They're all married to doctors and lawyers and crap, with diamonds bigger than their heads on their hands.
I play Guild Wars and I have meet a few in game... Just another questions that relates to the topic dose anyone find it anouying when there are guys playing as girls or is that just me??
Why guys playing females would annoy you is beyond me. I mean, unless you're trying to flirt with everything of the opposite sex...what does it matter?
The only time a guy playing a girl bothers me is when they make it so painfully obvious...namely by acting whorish and hitting on everything and dancing around with no armor on for money =/ Come on guys, stop treatin girls like objects, lol.
Anyway, i'm a guy *clicks the poll* but I do tend to play females...I roleplay them better. Ingame, nobody has ever figured out i'm a guy ^_^ but then, I guess I just tend to be more feminine. Stupid stereotypes...I'm allowed to cry in public to >_<!

people like this are precisly the reason that a better % of girls play guy toons than the other way around.
i have a very close friend who won't even admit she's a girl on forums, let alone games for this reason alone.
guy thinks he has to hold her hand through every little thing when she is 10x the player he will ever be. add that to the fact that she cant go on teamspeak without some (read eveyrone) begging for pics, accusing of being a guy on voice changing software, saying to get your girlfriend off teamspeak.
getting dirty pm's from lonely lonely idiot who can't get a girl to look at him irl, but hes going to act like some casenova while he looks like an elf...its not even worth the trouble, ill play a guy every game for now on
lol voice changing software that works properly is non-existant. Even when you change the pitch of the voice it is still obviously a guy, they only sound like a Transexual guy with the voice filtering. There is only one way to properly make female voice imitation software and that is by recording a female voice for every pronunciation you can make, like the "oo" sound and the "pa" of a P, then script a program to play back what you type.

it has nothing to do with whether they are male or female. and stereotyping women like this isn't going to get you anywhere.
sure there aren't as many girl gamers as there are guys, but its no reason to treat them any differently.
Hey hey, I wasn't trying to be mean in any way. the "Majority" of girls have no interest in mmo's compared to the majoraty of Males who play those games. Now that does not mean there aren't some fenominal female players out there. I was just talking in General.

From what I've been reading the number of female gamers is increasing quite rapidly. Especially due to WoW. I've actually met quite a number of females who have gone into WoW, and began to branch out. WoW is like weed, it gets you into, then you try harder stuff!
There IS hope for us elves who act like casanova to get gamer girls! J/k.

I know it's bad... but if they dont give their stuff to me... they're probably gonna give their stuff to another guy pretending to be a girl...

i have to say that from most of the girls i played with are cool players, for exemple: i had a female clanleader in rose online but she stopped playing and we still got contact using msn, she is azian and im from belgium, very far away and so good friends

... or then you live in the Nordic Countries where a good amount of gals are players. Fact is all the finnish women i know, do play computer games even if not necessarily wow in particular (about 50% also play wow).

Well I play several femal characters. And the main reason why I do is because I enjoy looking at a female body all day rather then a guy...
I think thats a pretty damn good reason. Maybe you should think of why you enjoy looking at a male body so much?
I don't think that's due to you playing a female character. I've had that tons of times with my male character aswell.
This subject is so old and tired. It has made the rounds of EVERY gaming board ANYWHERE probably hundreds of times, including this one. We should put it to sleep before someone drags out the stat sheets and demographics and pie charts and all the other crap that proves there are plenty of women on the internet.

I think a lot more women would play MMORPGs if they knew more about them. I think the social and crafting aspects (a big part of the female friendly Sims games) of the games would appeal strongly to them. But to most women, an MMORPG might as well be Grand Theft Auto, a game most of the women I know dislike.
It was the same with the Web. It started off being used mainly by men until women got to know more about and then jumped on board.
