I'm shocked they went with cartoon gfx. Gameplay matters so much more though. I have no idea how they are going to pull this off. It sounds amazingly complex to program.
I can't imagine this game would be out for a very long time.
Edit: Oh my, the more they show the more cartoony the graphics get...ugh. Like Wildstar but obviously better.

The truly funny thing is, iv already seen a few posters who crapped on Wildstar's "look" already praise how this game "graphics style"is....ah...such is life at MMORPG.com.
First let me say, love the art direction. Still has a celle shaded feel without it feeling like its designed to catch the eye and be appealing to a 13 year old (Wildstar a little too cartoonie for me).
If they can really develop this whole wandering AI, and remembering what YOU do as a player. If they can do that on the scale off the whole game world it will be...It will be basically the MMO Ive had in my head for the last 4 years.
I dislike with a passion the whole four button only combat system. Sorry but that just kinda meh. What they need to do is give me multiple animations for each of the four action buttons.
And being destructable enviroment...okay is just over the top badass.
"I understand that if I hear any more words come pouring out of your **** mouth, Ill have to eat every fucking chicken in this room."
Hurray a graphic style that won't look outdated 2 years after launch like EQ2 did!
Really, can't people realize 'realistic' makes it extreme easy for the game to look graphically outdated extra quick?
Exactly. I'm personally a fan of realistic art styles, but the reason we're seeing these stylized approaches a lot lately has to do with the fact they hold up way better over time.

ut that creates the problem of them being too much alike, to the point it becomes meh. And thats about where Im at now.

I love graphics that are non-traditional, I just feel that this game looks a lot like GW2 right now. Which is just my personal feelings, I mean I just watched the zone fly-through you posted, it looks really good, but it looks a lot like GW2 zone fly throughs.
I dunno I just wish that it looked a little more it's own style and a little less "the new mmo style" if that makes any sense.
One thing I have learned over the years is ALL games sound great in press releases and a lot of features that are promised never make it into the game. Most anyone that has been around for more than 5 years can attest to the truth of that. Now I have to admit that it sounds interesting but I refuse to get excited until the NDA is down in beta or I have seen it for myself.
wow...you people will never be pleased with anything. I was simply keeping the game on the radar, but now i'm in 100%. What about this, aside from it not being exactly everything you want in your brain, is bad? They are doing some amazing things here and i am now really excited about this.
Doesn't even make sense, people who tend to be graphic whores usually have high end cards as it's important to them. As is the importance of buying a game cause they love the graphics in them. You're not jaded because it's not as important. Don't take opinions so personally.

Despite my uncertainty about the graphics, I am very pleased with what this game is offering. I am definitely in. Only way I won't be in is if I end up enjoying Final Fantasy XIV enough to not care about any other MMO's.

My two cents.
I personally think its closer to wildstar than GW2. Not that either is bad...im just having fun reading the complete 180 posts of people who not that long ago crapped on Wildstart for going with a "cartoony/styalized" look instead of realistic lol
On a side note...those shoulders look bigger than anything I have ever come accross in WoW lol.
My edit disappeared into the nether regions of the internet so.. I will post again.
1) Art style: Yuck. It may hold up better, but if it looks like poop to begin with, that's not a good thing.
2) Dave Georgeson: I remember him from the Tribes 1/2 era (and the Tribes 2 debacle). Don't believe much of what he says.
3) Fully destructible? So I can keep using the crater to drill a hole in the world? Or even eventually consume all of Norrath (Except for the bits that are "immune")? I don't think so.
4) Classes. So, if you want to learn to be a mage, you must.... wander around aimlessly doing procedurely (see "boring") generated content with no real meaning over and over again in the hopes that some random NPC/NPCs you help will teach you it? Egads.

WTB on PS2 and WTS WTJ option.
So, did ESO have a successful launch? Yes, yes it did.By Ryan Getchell on April 02, 2014. **On the radar: http://www.cyberpunk.net/ **
EQ1 had this over the shoulder or First person view feeling that gave a lot of dept to the game, made me feel like I was part of the world.
This view point is farther away feeling, I'm betting if you zoom in too far you'll be at a disadvantage. I really loved how EQ did that, coming from UO it was a big change.
And as my friend put it, "The main thing I got from watching the videos and reading the info was that someone can destroy my house while I'm in the shower."
I was hoping for more specific details too. Guess I'll have to wait.

Thanks for the in-depth detailed coverage, MMORPG.com. Good stuff.
I like the Minecraft inspired use of the z-axis. Very clever.

I miss DAoC
Final Fantasy XI XIV 1.0, Witcher 2 , TERA, AION still looks amazing despite not being the newest game/MMO in the market.
Stylized/Cartoonize doesn't equals longivity, look at SWTOR, it looks terrible and dated already.
I am so disappointed in the direction they took but in the end of the day gameplay is all it matters.

I was watching this really cool sand art show and then this guy starts talking about elves and cat people.
What gives guys?
The above is my personal opinion. Anyone displaying a view contrary to my opinion is obviously WRONG and should STHU. (neener neener)
