I'm always playing mmo's at work and working plus following this site, you ever heard of windows mode?
I'm playing lotro as we speak, i'm actually in the Prancying Pony. I'm standing in front of the fire smoking pipe weed and listening to someone playing music.
I'm working. I can pop into the forum and be done in 10 minutes, while something is running that I have to wait for.
10 minute instant gratification activity... ZOMG I'M a CASUAL!

Well at the moment I'm at work but when I first read this post this morning I was sitting in the loo.
When I am playing games (DAOC freeshard at the moment) they have substantial downtime between fights, sometimes several minutes so plenty of time to check in on the forums and post even.
Heck, EVE had gate camps that let me write my first novel, pay my bills, watch all 3 LOTR titles etc. You fast action combat/MMO fans are missing out.
All the good mmorpg's are 10+ years old atm, and everything that's been released the past few years is copies of other games done poorly, and way too casual friendly. Waiting for a good game like UO or AC1, but it's not looking like that's coming anytime soon, sadly.

Nah, those of us who play fast action combat/MMOs just write our novels, pay bills, and watch movies either before login or after logout. Multi-tasking is for wusses.
Even on a smartphone, in my car waiting for the rain to let up, I could be playing my game of choice right now. (thanks to Android and Safari)
Why I'm not is because I had a good session last night on the Ouya with my significant other. Couch gaming...

Because forum PvP is more entertaining than most mmorpg's.

Same here. There's always an MMO or gaming forum of some kind (usually EVE and MMORPG.com) open on one of my screens, if not on several of them.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
Because there are no games out there worth playing right now and especially, no good communities out there anywhere, therefore I haven't logged into any MMO in close to a year. What else should I do than hang out in various forums?

And I am seeing less and less point to the "hang out on the forums" part with pretty much every day that passes.
No one's mind ever changes, and it's been an endless repetition of the same arguments daily since--at least--2004. A decade, folks.
There's nothing new in the gaming world, but doesn't look like there's anything new in the gamers, either.

So start something new.

Originally posted by MMO-Veteran Well I'm not dedicated to any games at the moment but ... I guess I'm just interested in maybe one day finding a game that reignites that flame I once had for the genre... but something tells me my adventures in these games may be coming to a close for a while.
This is exactly how it is for me. This forum feels like my last on-going connection to the genre, sort of like better than giving up on it all entirely. I also often have the feeling that this chapter in my life has closed, but can't quite let go of the hope that somehow, sometime in some game I'll have the same immersive fun with lots of online friends that I used to enjoy.

What novel was that?! )
Thinking about ideal games is better than playing real games.
It's wonderful to explore your imagination.

I actually find that I read and research more about games of interest than play them, and I'm not even in the gaming industry.
It's more of looking for something that I really want to play, which is getting harder these days.
