This game is so much fun Why the Hate??

JeffSpicoliJeffSpicoli Member EpicPosts: 2,849

Another Beta weekend and another round of hatefilled posts from players proclaiming the shit that ESO is in their opinion. I just don't get it???

Im not saying ESO is the greatest MMO I have ever played and the future WOW killer but in my honest opinion there is enough in the game, Graphics ,Immersion-Gameplay ect to warrant a purchase and really have me excited for launch.

I can understand those who are burnt on the genre saying ESO does not offer enough new for them to play, But to bash this game the way some have like its the buggiest lamest piece of shit they have ever played just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Im starting to think most of the hate is just bitter Elder Scrolls fans who are pist Skyrim/Oblivion 2 wasn't released and instead a ESO MMO was made, That's my only explanation.

To be fair the game is extremely buggy. I had 4 quests in my journal at one point and couldn't complete 3 of them because they were all bugged. They did seem to fix the annoying bug where you lock up in the middle of quest dialog at least.

The game just isn't good. The combat isn't fun, the quests are awful and the PvP is highly mediocre. They didn't even seem to try to make a good game, they just spit out a MMORPGified version of Skyrim which to be honest isn't as good as Skyrim.

That isn't hating on the game, it is just the truth from my eyes. It is a bad game. Trust me, I really wanted to like this game. I'm sick of playing in betas and knowing the game is going to crash and burn within a year. I desperately want a playable MMORPG but we just keep getting these shoddy games instead.

Its not extremely buggy. Here is a tip most lockups can be solved by hitting the quote key. Its just your UI locking up. The quote key opens the mail function.

    Two reasons...

    1)   Everyone who enjoys the game is playing it right now in beta weekend (unless they want to save content)  so the majority of people left to post here is negative to the game and wont play anyways.

    2)   Millions of gamers, people will hate this game like people hated WoW just because of how big it is, and its heavily created for  its TES fan single player base and not the entire MMO crowd.

OP is right. ESO may not be the greatest but its gold medal compared to how the forum goers have been describing it. Some 'gamers' are just never happy.

Yes it is. All 3 of those quests had a big group of people waiting around because the mobs wouldn't spawn. And no you can't fix the quest dialog lockup, you have to exit the game to fix it. Normal lockups are fine.

This game is very buggy which is fine since it is beta but if it releases like this people are going to be pissed.

Ender I just took a look at your Past 8 pages of posts and basically its you hating on the past 4 MMO's you have played lol. ESO-Wildstar-Final Fan 14 & Secret World all are not up to your standards lol. Perhaps you are burnt out on the Genre as I EXPLAINED in my Post.....

Maybe its time to take a break

If only this were true. I would love it if I felt it was built for the single player base but it is just standard MMO fair. Quest here quest there nothing to explore.

Bash on the game for being buggy at launch if the problems havent been solved.
  • AzureProwerAzurePrower Member UncommonPosts: 1,550

Not so much hate. Rather keeping it real so people who are interested in the game can make an informed decision on whether or not to purchase.

What you may find fun. May not be fun for others.

If you continue to hype the game up and make it sound better than it is. All that leads to is disappointment and people scorning you for luring them into a bad purchase. That is what breeds haters.

    Your first MMO, is it?

No game is to everyone`s liking, and nothing makes people want to express themselves more than disappointment.

    And why not?

  • JeffSpicoliJeffSpicoli Member EpicPosts: 2,849
If you look through a lot of the bashers post history you will see them not really enjoying anything on the market atm or anything released in the past few years. I think a lot of the Hate comes from people who are burnt out on the Genre and don't even realize it.

Or you can't accept other people not liking the game you like.

It's simple as that, no need to invent excuses.

Alot of people react to it like they did with swtor. I reacted the same back then to swtor. I couldnt stand it. It seemed to ''old''. Much later i finally liked swtor and now think its a great game. Fortunate for me i didnt have the same feeling when i tried eso.I liked the old school style which made me feel more immersed in the world im playing in.

I think many feel its nothing special coz it feels like an old-school game and they expect something spectacular from a big title like eso, like they did with swtor.

The Quests and Exploring are the two most loved features of the game.   If you dint do storyllines and get to the end of them to see how you have to make a critical choice which will spawn a whole new storyline event, or see that person come out of nowhere to give you an adventure to go on.    If you dint read the book on the ground that give you a hint at some exploration feature or place to explore that would reward you for it then YOU probably would think its just same old quests.

If you did not run off in a non liner direction from the quest you were on to explore the world around you, and see the mining nodes hidden in nooks and cranys, or find the chests in hidden areas of the world,  If you did not loot backpacks and campsites found on the map or  come up to a random area where NPC's were interacting with each other and talk to them,  then YOU probably would think there was no exploration.

To me, all these things I found,  are not in any other MMORPG to date and found very much in past TES single player games.   Some people are so locked into standard MMO way of thinking that they don't know how to explore, adventure or quest anymore.   This was probably the case with you, which seems to be the case with a lot of people who even run by skyshards without paying attention to the fine details in the world that lead to quests, adventure and exploration events.

Anytime I see someone say they "wanted to like the game" I discount their opinion entirely. If you're saying this, its because you need an MMO, you need some gap filled in your life by one or whatever, and that's not the way to approach anything, especially things that are supposed to be fun. You either accept it for what it is, or you dont. And if you went into it "wanting" to like it, chances are you're not going to, you're already going into it with a closed mind that either you or the game has to change. Neither is gonna happen.

Stop your freakin character, for 5 minutes, look around, stop rushing off to complete that quest with the thousands of other mouth breathers, and do something entirely different. Do what YOU want to do with it, options are there, immersion is there, people just wanna treat games like they're some treadmill, of course you're gonna think it sucks.

Different strokes for different folks is all.

After getting into this beta and playing for 12 hours, i could not punch the preorder button fast enough. This game surprised me on so many levels.

My wife and I found the questing to be really boring and seriously lacking in challenge. We hardly ever had to kill anything because players way outnumber the mobs. We gave up around level 6 and spent the day playing The Secret World.
  • JeffSpicoliJeffSpicoli Member EpicPosts: 2,849

Maybe my definition of a buggy beta is different from others. To me Bugs in Beta is when your character gets half his body stuck in a rock or opening a chest and having the game crash to your desktop. A quest not working here and there is really nit picking, no ?

Meh to each his own I guess, Listen im fine if you don't like the game, I don't give a shit if you play or not. I just started the post to try to understand why..... It just doesn't add up for me. Not liking the game is one thing, fine. But proclaiming it is the buggiest lamest piece of shit on the market is just a nonsense lol.

See this is the problem.  It isn't that he is just bash happy with MMOs, rather the last 4 (or more) have totally been let downs.  ESP is the same.

They basically took a extremely strong, detailed and deep IP and dumbed it down.  Again a prime example of greed and trying to make a game that is everything to everyone which always fails.  These companies need to start realizing that a game doesn't have to have 5 million subscribers to be successful and start making great games that cater to 500k subscribers that will be hardcore and steadfastly loyal to it for 10 years or more.

Then and only then will we have another good MMO.

  • SlampigSlampig Member UncommonPosts: 2,342

Because, "Boo hoo, it isn't EXACTLY like Skyrim! I mean, I am not a dummy, I could totally go play Skyrim since that is what I am looking for anyway, but I would rather get into a beta for a game I can't stand then post about how much I hate it, because GAMING!"

Quite opposite actually,  its TES fans who are the player base of this game,  and the bitter ones are the MMO players who do not know a good RPG if it hit them halfway cross the split of their ass.

    image

You know these types of players, the kind that click right though every text of a game storyline to get to end game so they can play the game like a First Person Shooter, but then come to the forums to complain its not what they want and try to say they are a HUGE TES fan to try to give their complaint some sort of credit.   When in fact this is hands down the best RPG experience that any MMORPG has seen up till now.

When I see someone say they are a TES fan and hate this game, I automaticly call "bullshit" based on the level of RPG in this game.
