It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
Be warned if you are new coming into this game. This game seems to attract the most immature d-baggery you could possibly find on the internet. If you are someone that is easly offended You will be horrified by the chat lol. If a MMORPG mod was in charge of ArcheAge's chat you would basically be left with nothing but gold spammers. O yeah a little off topic but the chat box ingame is spammed 24/7 by gold spammers, Trust me you have NEVER seen spam like this. Not exaggerating either...
That was just the chat, Forget about behavior in-game. Just be forewarned that this game has put the tools in place to really make people's lives hell. Im not talking about your typical ganking that happens in every MMO , Hey its PVP fight back pussy. Im talking about all the other systems in place to grief people.
People will tell you to join a large guild and team up with other people when you do things, ie fish tend to crops trade runs ect ect but the reality is 9 out of 10 times the griefers & toxic ZERGS greatly outweigh any Organized guild acitivity you could possibly organize. Trust me this community is ruled by those whose endgame content is YOU, Yes there content is nothing more than impeding your progress in game, I shit you not.
Am I saying this game is trash? Not at all, Its very innovative game with average to slightly above average graphics, Just don't give this company a dime of your money until you fully understand what you are getting into. Play it free until you truly get a feel for what you are getting into.

ThunderC,
Yes there will be people in this game that will make your life hell if you let them. First off you think this is a Toxic environment, go back to WOW and just see how much the community has become Toxic. The community in ALL MMOs right now its toxic because players have been allowed by tools like LFD/R to hide who they really are instead of everyone knowing an ass hole when they see one. What is the difference between WOW and AA, is well I know at least 3 ass holes in AA on my server. Alls you need to say is This person killed me over here in faction chat and in guild chat (My guild is small) and people come running to kill that Ass hole. One guy in particular has made such a name for himself on the server he is a Kill on sight of all the guilds because he is an ass hole. Guess what he gets farmed a lot and greifed a ton. He also was killed again last night when someone in my guild got killed and told us in guild chat and then our GM told Faction chat. Over 100 people shown up to kill this 1 guy. He got sent to Jail for 60 Minutes.
While what you say happens you are being overly dramatic about it, like the guy in the guild that got killed last night. He got killed in a contested zone during a time where PVP can happen. This guy also QQed about how WOW is better because players cannot greif you on PVE servers. Like I told him and I will tell you. THAT IS WHAT THIS GAME IS ABOUT! There are people like myself, my wife, my guild and more than half this game that will come running to kill people who become too much of an ass hole.
O and to LazyDazed. I use to Agree with that statement however I went back to WOW this past time and I can tell you P2P WOW is no better than F2P communities. When I get told to STFU this is LFR and if tanks don’t want to tank the towers on the first boss wing 2 in SoO and we wipe all night I have to deal with it. Then I get little 10 year olds saying how I should just roll a tank and tank it for them and its ok if they wipe for 5 hours and waste my time. Its because MMOs try to catter to people who don’t accept consequences to their actions and tooks like LFD and server switching and all that has hurt the MMO community. Yes there always was Jack Asses in MMOs however they were 100% less effective at their jack assaery than today because they could not hide behind anonymity. In AA they cannot hide so they will just be bigger ass holes, just bring some friends and kill the SOB then he spends real time in jail in the game. Yes you have to be logged in for 60 in game minutes until you get out at some point it will be as high as 12 hours. Then they will be thrown out of the faction and be sent off as pirates. Then they will be Red to everyone and everyone including the other faction will kill them.
make pve ruleset server with faction only pvp.
problem solved.

Actually its not the F2P community that is so bad. Its the open world FFA pvp crowd, the people pushing that agenda. I despise PV in MMO's. it briongs out the worst in people, and there is nothing good or redeeming about it. That being said I have played several games like this just to see what kind of people play these games, and the chat is always horrid.
Im not sensitive when it comes to chat, at least as sensitive as some, however, after finally getting in after nearly a week of trying to log in, I finally got in and I found this to be some of the worst chat around. I didnt even play the game, I simply sat there and watched the chat.
Its sad that Idiocracy is turning into a documentary, I had hoped that the movie was exxagerating, but from what I can see it isnt exxagerating in the slightest, in fact it may not be nearly aggressive enough.
Name one positive F2P community, other than dead games that people don't play anymore.
Then you cannot become a pirate. You have to get kicked out of your own faction to become a pirate. You cannot do that if you are not killing your own faction.
You want the problem to be solved. There is this guy Enshourd on my server, say "Enshourd killed me here he is going after other people" 100 people show up just to kill the guy because thats how many people hate him. Then he bitches that so many people come to kill just him. AA has a good balance between people who want to be ass holes and people who want to farm ass holes.
Name 1 P2P game that has a good community?
WOW is the worst
FFXIV is so so you have your ass holes here.
SWG was my number 1 best community. But that game is gone and the time were people respected one another.
Point a good community does not exist anymore unless you make it. AA is doing just that.
This is what happens when you try to make a middle of the road PvP game that pleases everyone. You have way way way too many safezones and zero consequence for attacking and death. So you are left with two types of people who run rampant in the game:
1. The normal controlled PvP player. The guy who plays WoW arena or GW2 and thinks they are hardcore for playing Archeage. They "think" they are playing some consequential open world PvP game like Darkfall, when they would actually never be able to handle the harshness of a true consequential game. They run through Archeage thinking they are hot shit, mainly usuing safe zone exploits to grief or zerging the shit out of everyone.
2. The actual PvP griefer with the Darfallish background is bored by the constraints set by the game, so goes out of their way to grief and exploit to get their shits and giggles.
The easiest fix for this, is to completely remove the safezones, and open the whole game up for PvP. Let the playerbase police the game. Believe it or not, this makes for 100000x more enjoyable community then what you will find in the undirected safe zone exploiting piece of trash. I know it is conter intuitive to a majority of the MMO playerbase, but less restriction on PvP actually encourages people to not act like assholes because they face the consequence of the entire server. I wish more people would understand this so that developers would be less inclined to put these artificial restriction on the player policing of these worlds.
*side note*
I guarantee you a guild like OT would not be getting away with the shit they are doing in any true open PvP game. Those guys would be camped to the point of non-progression until they actually started acting decent or their players dispersed and broke into smaller factions. This has happened in every true political player driven open PvP game since r30's in shadowbane to the mega nations in darkfall.

Rift is so-so. It has it's moments. At least the server I play on. LOL
LOTRO definitely one of the best communities in the MMO world.
Im haven't been the biggest advocate for this game, but am playing and having fun.
The idea that community is toxic might be true, but here is what I did and I am a part of a great community.
First thing I did when I logged in was guild shop....I dont want to be a law making do-gooders, but I don't want to be a thief either, so I looked with that criteria. I think when you approach your search like this, the guilds that are similar to your taste are more willing to bring you aboard because you "get it". I joined an awesome trading guild, made my own chat tab removing "barren's chat" and the other places where (throughout gaming history) there is likely to be toxification.
I've been playing for 4 days like this now (switched servers) and I have zero issues...when I go online Im typically invited to a guild raid group, if no other reason than to know where we all are and should we need help, we can go there. Everyone is cool and I've had all my answers questioned with no issue.
I think the community itself is fine, but with local and regional chat, you will ALWAYS get toxicity...any game Ive played has this...that's why it's known as "barren's chat"...not cuz of the pine barrens either :P
I always get confused when I see posts like this because my experience in the same game is usually different, then I remember I play on EU servers. Some of the English are giving our youths a run for their money but there is no worse a group online than the little bastards raised on xbox live who populate American servers.
I'm doing alright with guild activities. Find an active guild with numbers who will show up to do shit, and shit will get done.
Can predict the future so i dont know if it will become "better" or "worse" (the definition belong to each person).
But the overall community is not yet define in AA, its still to soon. Theres to much ppl that rush to 50 only to ruin the others experience, we need more guilds full of 50 and maybe things might be a little diferent.
Those who only get fun from griefing the others usually give up games soon as they start be griefed to in some way. The nolifers didnt sleep only to get power befor others, but their "Paradise" will start ending as soon more ppl is hable to fight back.
I agree to some extent. The only problem with full open PVP is that you will have level 50s killing people right when they enter the game. Now You can counter balance that however you will need to be creative. A good open PVP game that I liked was SWG, you could not kill random people. They had to show their faction so there was no farming of low level players and when the Imps when into cities like Moniea on Naboo with 100 players and 5 Rebels are there they just stay covert and LOL at the Imps. Now if 5 to 10 Imps show up there would be a battle.
What AA can do is make players who receive too many PK numbers Red all the time even in Safe Zones and allow other players to attack them. So if in a level 20 zone I see a level 50 red and I have 10 other level 20s around me we could just kill the SOB. That Red is PVP at ALL times because he earned the right of Jack ASS and will be treated as such.
List of F2P games with great communitites:
Anarchy Online
The Secret World
Age of Conan (See a theme here?)
The Lord of the Rings Online
Star Wars The Old Republic
Not to mention a ton of F2P Asian exports. In fact, the biggest reason people are dedicated to alot of these games still is because of the communities.
I also think the DOTA 2 communities and World of Tanks communities are decent as well, but some people would argue with me.
ArcheAge has a lot of good communities in it as well. Just do yourself a favor and leave Faction and Nation chat. They are ArcheAge's version of "Barrens Chat". ArcheAge is fun because it is truly a social game. There are politics and alliances that evolve in very real and organic way on each server.
Funcom has always had the best communities in my opinion, but my theory is that their games are very RPG'ish, so the CoD'ers and xbox'ers are nowhere to be found.
Yea I agree. My point is F2P or P2P does not make a community better or worse anymore. The overall MMO community has been back for about 7 years now. The best communities are in guilds and smaller games vs larger populated games like WOW that allow people to hide behind their true nature.
TESO. Yes, there was gold spammers (all gone), but we've not met nor heard any asshats yet, and we've been on from day 1. (EU server - the US one may differ).
In the end every MMO, esp. F2P 1s has d**** in them. Mainly because the great unwashed think they can do as they please (again esp. in F2P.... banned? Roll another account! etc.).
Only real fix? Blizz's idea with a twist... Battlenet REAL I.D. - If every other player can see who you are and where you live, you'd soon be a lot nicer.
It's like the US gun laws when us brits wanted to bare arms.... Yes, there would be a spate of killings, then everyone would get real nice to one another!
No trials. No tricks. No traps. No EU-RP server. NO THANKS!
...10% Benevolence, 90% Arrogance in my case!
So what you guys mean is: All the older, crap games (and by that I mean look of date - hello lotro graphics. Or just plain old, boring crap - hi there TSW & Conan).
Oh and SWTOR is quite bad for chat. If it's not smack talk it's LFG spam (at least on EU/EN RP server).
No trials. No tricks. No traps. No EU-RP server. NO THANKS!
...10% Benevolence, 90% Arrogance in my case!
I would rather deal with high level's PKing my short lived 0-20 experience then have to deal with all the safezone exploiting that constantly occurs for the rest of the game's lifecycle. Not to mention high level griefing is largely blown out of proportion as it is boring for all parties involved......does it happen, yes....is it constant....hardly.
Ive always had good experiences with Marvel Heroes and Warframe.
