Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.

Gotta love the added alliterative appeal of this meme.

If loot dropped, that useful for your class, people would play the game. If the loot that dropped was MUCH better than the gear you can craft and it was also for your class, not a Medic DPS, that isn't even in your group, then more people would play this game.

If RNG wasn't the sole focus of "hardcore" , Getting 1800 Arena/ Warplot (whats a warplot?) gear is made possible, VERY SOON (October 31st at the latest) then this game will have a second chance at "Launching"

But they'll buff housing..fix grammar mistakes ...and buff Stalkers and Espers again, because they need it. Again.

Doesn't matter what carbine does, this game won't take off unless it gets a complete overhaul/reboot. The damage was already done. The smartest option as a company would be to save the money and cease development.

10 player raiding will bring me back. i dont see why you cant have hardcore 10 man raids.

40 man isnt hardcore, its just a pain to organise and boring to be part of.

Defibrillators are only so effective past a certain point, then you just gotta call time.

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.

When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.

No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

What really concerns me, is with NCsoft as their publisher, and knowing NCsofts itchy trigger finger, when it comes to western games, how long does Carbine have, before the NCsoft suits pull the plug?

They either need to call time or do an FFARR on this one.

Given it is NCSoft and the absence of a known IP I am sure it will be the former.

    From the article:

"Before Update 3-4 even gets here, WildStar’s Megaserver merger will be taking place. Sometime in the next two weeks, servers will be closed down and characters moved to four new homes. It’s a feature that Donatelli admitted wanting to have for launch, but didn’t get finished in time."

That I find really baffling.  I don't want to accuse the developer of lying, but I think it would be a more charitable explanation than the company deciding to launch the game before they even had their basic server architecture in place.  Probably the most charitable explanation is that he genuinely did want to do it but got overruled by higher ups who later came around when they saw that it was absolutely necessary to redo the server architecture almost immediately after launch.  But the only alternative to "the developer is lying" that I can find is chaos and mismanagement of the sort that ought to get a studio shut down entirely.  Which, given their history, NCSoft seems likely to do sooner rather than later.

Spin, nonsense and finger pointing always happens in these sort of occasions.  The game is struggling because they were prevented from launching with mega-servers???? Really???

the game is so stupidly hardcore that even some hard core guilds quite the game like vodoo guild etc. mixture of super hard core plus bugs made wild star a bad game, they need to fix bugs and lower difficulty and become more casual friendly or i do not see much of future for this game even if it goes free to play.

Perhaps these changes will be enough in the right direction to bring people back.  I've seen too many MMOs pronounced dead before that are still around to this day.

Well, if they are able to do this switch in fast enough time (without excessive hiccups), then they certainly must have had done development on it already.

    Good luck Carbine !

    You all can fix this.

If they improve the game's performance I will give it another go. Right now it's a system hog and when you turn the detail down it looks like someone smeared Vaseline all over the screen.

I don't think "knowing" means what you think it means.

Exteel, Dungeon Runners, Auto Assault, and the Western L2 servers are all examples of games that NCSoft gave more than enough chance to turn around. Are you confusing them with EA, or are you one of those people bitter over TR and CoH?

This. Dont play it because it is not optimised at all, same thing with Rift.

Optimise your games and you will get more players.

Carbine's focus right now is on implementing the mega-servers, everything else can wait. The last thing WS needs right now is a non-smooth transition to the new realm model. This would definitely kill off the game for good.
  • AlbatroesAlbatroes Member LegendaryPosts: 7,671
What WS needs an unlimited trial up to 20 like WoW since it looks (animation wise) just like WoW. It invites people in and allows the people who quit to actual talk to people and still experience some of the changes as they happen. Anyway, regarding the promotion, yeah they sent me free keys to try the game again when I only played the game for like a day via the guest pass. I'm probably not supposed to do this here but I dont want the keys. They are EU server keys: QCQAVIIAVRVOD4EQMDN0 | 401IK1KT64AD6R5X5I2J. Have fun if you get em.

How are those 40 man raids working?

Told ya so.. told the hardcores that they were too nostalgic about 40 mans.

Wont work anymore.  25 man doesnt even work in WoW anymore.

10s...flex...LFR.  That what the raiding community wants, that what keeps players.  Sad but true.

  • AsamofAsamof Member UncommonPosts: 824

WoW's hardcore gameplay worked because people were coming off of blizzard and warcraft 3 hype

also relative to other mmo's at the time, it was considered the mmo for babies. mostly because of its streamlined design

carbine believing they could bring back the 40 man hardcore was incredibly arrogant of them. now this game will probably be converted to F2P soon

I would jump into this game for a onetime buy-in and then free like GW and GW2.  I just can't justify a monthly sub with the number of games out there that don't require one.

Yeah, a game with almost no textures and runs at 20fps, while most other run above 70fps.  I just don't understand how they thought they could make a game, with these graphics, perform this poorly and expect anything but failure.  Not to mention the lame linear quest hub no freedom themepark design.  Apparently they didn't realize that we have all had linear quest hub no freedom themeparks shoved down our throats for the past 10 years.  I like the hardcore part of it but more people in a raid doesn't necessarily make it more hardcore.

This is the state of MMO's for me, the competition is everywhere.
