and yet here you and Dmkano, AAs most staunch supporters, defending it on just about every negative post here. From what I can tell, sir, and I use the term loosely, there are many people waiting in queues with nothing better to do than post here.
And for your information Trion pulled BS with me. I was a customer for years, and they tried to take my money and tell me a refund was "outside the refund policy" When I told them they were going to lose a loyal customer, they said "oh well".
I had to get a chargeback on my credit card after spending more than 20 hours in queue on head start weekend. You can damn well bet I dont let any business Ive been loyal to try and take advantage of me without consequence.
You still havent answered my simple question.
See the problem is in your case I called a spade a spade ....you have an agenda since you feel wronged (for that I'm sorry) but in some strange twist of things you feel justified in trying to ruin the gaming experience of other because of your own experience . If Trion pulled BS with you take it up with Trion ...my opinion is no better than your opinion and that's a fact ...but when you start twisting facts to serve your self at the expense of other ....You should be called out and "that is a fact"
I base my opinion on what other people have said as well. You refuse to believe for a moment that your game is anything but perfect, you try to debunk obvious problems the game has with terrible arguments. Trust me when I say though, the cat is out of the bag, no matter how much you choose to ignore to the problems with AA because you are a fan, no one is buying that bull anymore, the public has spoken.
Just cruious, how has the public spoken? By continueing to line up multi hour Queues?
Its a F2p game, no mystery there. Id love to see the exact number of refunds and chargebacks AA has generated. Its the first MMO in 15 years where Ive gotten a chargeback and a number of people have said they got refunds too. hell it took me 6 hours in the Customer service queue on the headstart weekend just to talk to to someone about a refund.
To be fair...nothing new. TSO, Wildstar, SWTOR, and just about every major release has had chargebacks and numerous refund requests. Just the nature of the beast, man. Hope you find your game, atleast now you have learned it won't be from TRION :P
If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!
I gotta agree with you Daranar, I really expected better from Trion, they did such a good job during the Rift launch, but did a 80 on this one. Got back into ESO and am enjoying the changes theyve made to it. Regardless I appreciate your classy response.
I think this game is easily a 9/10. Honestly. However, the current state of the community is bringing the game down to the 3.7 metacritic user score. It is crazy that TRION is THIS terrible with hackers. The hackers are so much worse here than NWO and that was TERRIBLE! However, as the cycle goes, as soon as the next big game comes out, the hackers will drop exponentially for each major release after. In a few months, I think this game will get a lot closer to what I believe is a 9/10 potential. I'm waiting for TRION to get a handle before I get serious and go patron.
For now, I am really enjoying exploring the game, learning it, and just having a INCREDIBLY wonderful casual experience. It's a shame that these a-hole hackers exsist and ruin the economy, and game balance for the more hardcore players. TRION really needs to get on it. Totally unacceptable, but IMO this game has serious potential if TRION can get a grasp on the exploitative community.
I was looking at possibly giving this game a try from a casual perspective, but the rampant negative posts in this and many other threads is causing me to change my mind. The land issue in particular, is a stumbling point.
So I am just curious as to why, you say you are having an incredibly wonderful casual experience, because thats what I was looking for here, with the chance of perhaps getting seriously into the game. How is it that you enjoy the game casually with all the problems that it has now?
FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!
I am not a fan of this game. I don't like the flaws in the UI. But when it comes to housing and land, things are not as bad as you paint the picture. I made 4 alts and took a look at 6 servers starting areas, the first 3 maps. For those not familiar with the game, there is a unique crating table (1 or 2 per map specialty crafting). The lots next to this table are prime building locations. These prime lots are taken and full. The less prime lots, located further away, are wide open. From my inspection yesterday I would estimate that only 50% of all land is occupied.
What makes land less prime, and ignorable? At one specialty crafting table you find a crating bazaar. Here you will find a bank, AH, and crafting vendors. The 2nd table is close by but doesn't have any of these NPCs. You use the specialty crafting table to make a trade pack (TP), that debuffs you movement from run to walk (10m/s to 1m/s). A TP is worth ~5Gold (3-4.9G). Some players make 10+ TPs and store them at their farm or in front of their house. Each player can only carry 1 TP at a time. So the further you have to travel the longer it takes. The less prime a further lot is valued. There is a quest reward mount with the second TP you learn, Donkeys (4m/s vs 1/s). There are craft TP vehicles (Farm cart & Farm wagon), that let you carry 3 - 4 TP at a time. When carts & wagons are plentiful these less prime locations will be utilized more.
My point, there is plenty of land in the starting zones. BTW most starting maps have a 30+ zone (10%-20% of map), that has a specialty crafting table and building zones. I have not seen the 30+ level maps yet so I don't know what their building areas look like. But I suspect they are for Large farms and homes (Castles) and are also wide open.
The major point you are missing Konfess, is that my guild started on one of the most populated servers. I decided to play AA solely to hang out with my guildmates from games going back 10 years.
I didnt want to start solo on a fresh server, it defeats the whole purpose of why I bought the founders pack in the first place.
Did your guild mates all ask for a refund and quit the game? Why not? How did they succeed where you failed? It appears you walked away without really trying when you didn't get in for the early access weekend.

Why did I bother reading all of this nonsense thread
If you're gonna gauge how well a game is doing based on posts on this forum you're doing it very wrong callidor.
Not saying this game is doing good, and I'm very sure it is riddled with problems as most mmo's around launch period are, but nothing on this forum matters in the grand scheme.
Assuming that botting is actually a problem and not over exaggeration I hope XL or whomever gets on that, because this game has a lot of potential.
I cancelled my sub already but I just wanted to share my first week with this game.
My sub expires 10/28
Let's break this shit down one tale at a time ......nobodies sub has even start yet ....sub time begins the 14th
So you choose to ignore the OVERWHELMING opinion of players to nit pick with semantics? Every thing in the OPs post has been commented on over and over by many, many players. And again, this is your defense, that his calendar math is wrong?
You do realize by your logic that every game ever is a waste right? Almost every game on this site is mostly negative, because people like me who are enjoying the game don't care in the slightest how the vocal minority feel.
You cried about no land for Patrons? What's Trion supposed to do, make infinite land so you can get the land you apparently feel entitled to? Go find another game to cry about.
Someday, folks will learn that Asian grinders, even ones dressed to be USA supported, are still no better (just prettier) than a Facebook game.
I personally think the genre is just dead. There are some nice solo games out there, however and buying a PS4 isn't a bad idea anymore either if you were once a PC gamer.
But I come from old school Dark Age of Camelot and was a fan of WoW long before the cheese filled later expansions came out. This genre was so rich in thought back in the late 90s early 2000s. After that it's been one shut down or failure or F2P cash shop after another.
1. Over monetization
2. Trying to appeal to the wrong demographic.
Just about every issue I have with MMORPGs today can be boiled back down to one of those two.
I cancelled my sub already but I just wanted to share my first week with this game.
My sub expires 10/28
below I will jot down some of the most grevious occurences going on in the game right now.
Hackers are transporting tradepacks from port to port and even bringing the gold trader to there spot effectively
breaking the economy and market.
Patron, archeum, and even founders are still without any land and are up in arms over in the forums...the date to jot down on the calendar is OCT 10-12 which is resub day and its not looking goood.
Users that purchased patron status withthe 10% off the marketplace got jacked as Trion removed it.
Goldseller spam was dealt with for a day but they are back with a vengeance.
One of the most horrible game breaking hacks is when a player SNIPES a demolished home while 50 plus onlookers all try to get the plot...literally you have 50-100 people trying to get the same plot of land that is how bad it is.
3 days ago a HACKER unleasshed 50 level 50 RED NPCs on major cities wiping out players.....check out youtube.
Bots running rampant constantly mining ore and farming lowbie areas day and night.
Certain AH items are being marked up by high yielding hackers with lots of gold...essentially breaking the economy
and the the market.
In the forums many are trying to unload their plots of land by selliing them at more than 300g .....
Auroria will be released in a couple of weeks and everyones bracing for the carnage of the promised land will be relased,
biggest worry is the hackers and their script programs who will take all the land???? take a guess...
I had 5000 labor points used em all up in 2 days and rigth now im out of labor points....if I had 5000 labor points as a patron what chance do F2P players have chance? labor points are used for EVERYTHING even opening up a sack with loot ......but dont worry there are some market items for CREDIT that you can purchase to get some more.
The way I see this game going XL and TRION are trying to squeeze everything out of the community that is playng.....by speaking with some of the beta folks nothing was fixed during beta and most of the hacks that were around then are still around now....this leads me to believe that TRION is going to let the game run as is....in hopes that it generates money....
once the threshold of cost vs. investment vs. earnings go reverse.....the serves will get merged and the inevitable will happen...
I am not trying troll or give the game a bad name....it is what it is...this game should have not been launched in NA/EU but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ talks....and well you know the rest.
my advice......stay away from this game
The hacker part unleashing 50 level 50s reds npcs sounds like once in a life time event, sounds fun as hell. If those npc were unleashed on Haranis, I say they deserved it, those furry zergs.
Il tell you a secret.... people come to mmorpg to complain about games.. rarely you will find someone giving a good rivew because he is busy playing the game.

Also did Trion force anyone to pay $150 - .... I missed when they were going around cities with guns and robbing folks of their cash.
No, that would be armed robbery, but that doesn't mean that everything else is good to go, that's why there are consumer protection laws. Yeah, the game is just flawed. I only spent £35 which is the normal price for a new retail game and I think I got my money's worth as I played quite a bit and I enjoyed my time while it lasted. But yeah the bots, the hackers, the lack of land and the fairly grindy gameplay and I gave up. My sub runs out on the 17 November as I got two months as a founder for some reason

Caught trying to spin it again DMKano? Trion sold founders packs on the premise of exlcusivity. Not a damn person bout the founders pack for any other reason than getting in early enough to get land. Trion new ahead of time there wasnt enough to go around on the opening servers. They took advantage of people by leading to them to believe that buying the founders pack would get them land. You can literally go to their website and not one mention anywhere on the website is made of "limited land"
Im still waiting for that answer, are there more negative posts than positive posts about AA on this site?
First of all, founder packs are exclusive, that is what made them founder; it has it's power to make people purchase, but they definitely don't have to buy it if they find the exclusivity not worth it.
Secondly, no land promised list under founder packs. Only "headstart" which Trion delivered. If you actually played alpha, which $150 pack gives you, then you would imagine how hard the land would be getting in release. If you got the lower tier, a taste of beta, where counts like a small release, would make you think of that as well. I cannot see anywhere they took advantage of people... I mean, after I played the alpha, I actually see myself not owning a good big land in release; I've long past my hardcore days, and I am very happy with my 8x8.
Thirdly, the game itself is advertised as opened world housing. If you played any of alpha and beta, by the taste of it you'd understand the land is limited. Every experienced players know the lands is limited. For brand new players who didn't play any of alpha and beta, it's a learning time. Beside, as F2P, or late sub, they would have known first what sub entitle to, and they would researched, via guild, faction chat, or google, that land is limited and sub does entitle to own the land, the notion, but not to own the land, the virtual property.
Out of all honest, I really start to begin that it is a very harsh game on F2P players, as the required AFK time for LP is too much... But what you listed isn't fitting my arse-like opinions. It's all self-interpretation. If you really think Trion is a tricky company, then I suppose you can't survive in this F2P, P2W games filled market. Best of the luck.
The white knights of terribad games crack me up. They remind me of "the other woman" (he loves me, and he's going to leave his wife for me) or Stockholm Syndrome sufferers, beaten into submission. These complaints are not random. They are the same in hundreds of posts here and thousands on the AA forums. You can continue to insist all of these people are lying because you have a gamer boner for the game, but it doesn't make them untrue. I have heard about 90% negative reviews from my friends who play. Forums show about 80% negative. Just screaming "NUHUH! LIAR!" doesn't make it untrue, no matter how much you want to marry the game. If anything, your sycophantic worship of this game makes people think you wouldn't know a good game if it sat on your face.
I was looking at possibly giving this game a try from a casual perspective, but the rampant negative posts in this and many other threads is causing me to change my mind. The land issue in particular, is a stumbling point.

I too wanted a casual approach, with the intention of becoming more serious if I enjoyed it. So against all the advice here and on other sites I decided to play this game solo, casual and FTP.
My conclusion is that the FTP experience is far from unplayable as many have suggested.

It has still been an enjoyable experience. Land shortages, botters, hackers...as a casual player they have little effect on me.

good news for archeage supporters is that they have 2 million registered on their site..bad news is only 20k are actually playing :P...number will dwindle Im sure.
I didn't "prepurchase" alpha. I didn't even follow the game except for the occasional post here.
I picked up the game last week as a F2P. I liked it so much I got patron. I got patron just for the fact I wanted to own my little scarecrow and do a little farming.
I like the questing and the combat, the animations are so well done. The story interests me. I log in and I don't have any overwhelming urge to do any one thing. I just play and let the adventure take me where it may.
Although, I had to make a conscience effort to change how I play to take more advantage of the world experience.
Now, Is it perfect? No. I think the land issue is a legitimate concern. Meaning, If I am a patron paying my money, and I want to own land, then land should be available. Maybe not the prime land, but some land.
