You stated that CIG had a poll asking if they should stop funding. That was not true, CIG never gave any such poll. Showing the funding goals and stopping funding are not the same thing in anyway. And CR even stated that the stretch goals would not even stop. Its not nitpicking when you change the entire meaning of the poll into your own bias view.
In what world does "stop showing a counter" tern into "stop funding". Man you really have no legs to stand on. I proved that you spit out BS and make stuff up to try and make your point.
If you don't want to be called out on your BS, just stop doing it. Don't make false claims that are easy to prove wrong.
Edit: CIG NEVER ASKED IF THEY SHOULD STOP CROWD FUNDING, in fact CIG said they WOULD CONTINUE CROWD FUNDING.
hah... because we are talking about 2 seperate polls, I did not look at the crowd funding value of your poll, being at the 23 million mark.
47 million was the vote to stop stretch goals because of feature creep. therefore killing the main insentive.
I'l admit I was wrong, but all of my content being BS because of that? again, you have obviously read enough of the rest of the posts, what else is bullshit sir? nothing.
What most of you have not realized yet and has slipped through the whole hype and fanboy defending for this game is that THEY ARE NOT SELLING SHIPS ANYMORE!
They are now selling CONCEPTS. Yes you heard me right, these ships are not even available or created yet. They are concepts!
---
"When a ship's concept gets final approval from Chris Roberts, they will be sold in a one-week concept-only sale. After that week ends, the ship will not be available for sale until it is ready for use in the Hangar. Yes, you read that right: CIG is selling concept versions of virtual spaceships that can't be flown or even viewed in a game that isn't finished. In fact, the first of these, the Aegis Reclaimer, went on sale last week - for $350."
If that's not taking the piss then i don't know what is.
Yea.. and thanks to that apperent "lesser concept ship" (whatever that means) we now have a large salvage ship. a luxury cruise ship and a hospital/science ship .. because they were CHOSEN BY THE COMMUNITY....
They voted and offered to pledge those ships. (minus the cruise... it was already there afiak)
How is that any less valid than any other incomplete ship? you make it sound like they are going to lie and not do it? the game is 18-24 months off completion...

Hey thanks for proving me right. Again that poll didn't ask to stop funding, just having stretch goals. So again you are wrong. So it is still BS. Lots more of your posts are BS, the last few are just examples.
again what have I said that is bullshit? my wording was wrong. and what else is bullshit? nothing... OK try to discredit everything I say considering this thread is 90% bullshit from people.
You guys do realize there are a significant amount of people who are both gamers, and relatively wealthy.
To a guy who makes 250 grand a year, $600 isnt really a huge deal.
Honestly where are the threads complaining about people paying $2000 for a gucci handbag, or $300 for some brand name t-shirt.
Why is this any different
So comparing necessities ( less so for a handbag but it does serve an important purpose ) like clothing to something that in the case is CONCEPT ART is a good comparison to you?
I would also bet that the person that makes 250k a year that spends $600 for a ship in a game / while in a concept art stage to boot probably has financial issues elsewhere like insane mortgages and credit debt / loans. Making a lot of money doesnt mean you have to be stupid with it. I am single and am pretty well off but I dont throw away money that I work hard for just because I can. It is just a horrible excuse to hide behind when it comes to this kinda of thing. It holds no weight at all.

Oh you want more evadince of you BS? Ok. ED did not have a head start on SC, in fact CR stated that he was working on SC for a year before the kickstarter, while DB stated that work on ED didn't start until the kickstarter and after (with ED being in skunk works before that). So again a bunch of BS from you, ED did not have a 1-1.5 year head start.
ED is bare bones: Bare bones to what? ED devs have stated that they were working on the core of the game and will add content as the beta's go on. Lets see with Beta 2 we got, Factions Rep, New ship, 500+ systems, two new stations, new ED missions, exploration, and more. With Beta 3 coming out on the Oct 28th.
Not all ships can be earned in game, the Scyth with insurance can not be earned in game, a limited number of Idris's will be auctioned off each month to players, so not everyone will be able to get one.
And this is just a single post of yours. I could point out more if you want.

Principles.. Very people have them anymore.
Yes, i am actually very principled. For example i have not given blizzard or EA a single dime since diablo 3 and BF4 in the case of EA. Im one of those few people that stands by my principles.
As to your post, being on topic, so to speak. Yes, it is a fair comparison. When you pay for computer software, you're basically paying for pixels. Its not like you're going to the store and getting a physical product. So wether you pay ahead of time for a ship thats already been modelled, or is in a concept design phase is of literally 0 importance because in either situation its not like you can play the game and use the ship.
Now, if this was a released game, and this was the case, then yes i'd have more of an issue with it.
At the end of the day, people are adults, they can do with their money what they want. Until you can prove that the people aren't being given all the information, i.e. they're being purposely deceived to seperate them from their money, then you can't complain about what they do with their money.
From what i've read clicking these links, chris roberts and co have made it extremely clear exactly what you're paying for, that means the people paying for it have all the information they need to make the decision of paying for it or not. There is no trickery involved here.
So what we are arguing is value, and value is something that changes from person to person.
"The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently."

When I pay for a handbag or a t shirt I would get the item and not a fancy picture of the item with a promise of the real thing at some undetermined date in the future.

At last someone with common sense. People are spending hundreds and thousands of dollars right now for a concept, the game is not even out yet, if the game was out already I can in a twisted way of thinking agree with selling ships from $1 to $10000000 price, because at least the game was there, but no game and every other week more new ships and new concept of ships, people are buying now concept/blueprints of a may or may not be a ship. Flipping amazing how easily people get rid of their money.

Well the difference between a $10 dollar Hanes shirt and a $300 dollar designer shirt is the fact there is a fancy picture painted on it, or some logo.

1) ED also had an engine created far before their kickstarter too.... are we going to keep ignoring that as well? how conveniant.... it had to be rebranded to even sell as a kick starter... you can dress it up all you like.
2) BARE BONES - YES ... a game that is bragging release just because it has a damn early version of its PU available.... and I say EARLY... because there is barely jack-s*it to do in it... I've played considerable more now over the weekend, its a copy-paste with lsight variety repetitive generated mess where I spend most of my time friggin frame-jumping... whoa amazing... truly.
The game is damn smaller scale than SC in every way.... again, just ebcause you have the attention span of a fish and think that its "great" because it has its world up and running means nothing when its COMPARABLE featuers to SC are in no way done either... in reality ED won't be "Fully featured" on any comprable level to what SC is aiming to do for another 1-2 years too... they just started at opposite ends.
but oh wait... ED won't have a 50 mission campaign... or any soul..... or any real deep level of detail. people over-praising it to hell and back... just because its actually out.
"but but real landings in a year!" ... ok ... "Then First person after that" ... judging by the lesser quality/immersion and overall art/modeling/destruction ect I can't wait to see how mediocre their FPS module turns out to be compared to one in CryEngine.... should be a good laugh.
The Idris-M and Scythe can be earned.... limited but earned. god forbid there be rare ships.

DB has stated numerous times that they started work just around kickstarter. There was some planning beforehand but nothing like working on the game fullsteam. SC also had a ready engine with a whole company supporting that engine.

Just because you don't know how to play a sandbox game, that dosn't make it a bad game. I log in daily and there's always something to do and someone to fight. A LOT of features are missing but they're lightyears ahead of gameplay than what SC is right now... and there's even more features coming next week.
Smaller scale? How exactly? Have you seen the features that ED has planned over release and the next expansions? You do realize Elite will have several expansions out by the time SC releases right?
but oh wait... ED won't have a 50 mission campaign... or any soul..... or any real deep level of detail. people over-praising it to hell and back... just because its actually out.
ED doesn't have soul? A 30 year old franchise that created the space sim genre doesn't have soul? Instead you're talking about a 50 mission single player campaign? Elite is a sandbox space sim game... do you even know what that means?
"but but real landings in a year!" ... ok ... "Then First person after that" ... judging by the lesser quality/immersion and overall art/modeling/destruction ect I can't wait to see how mediocre their FPS module turns out to be compared to one in CryEngine.... should be a good laugh.
Probably won't be a better laugh than using an FPS engine to make a space sim and then presenting to the public by playing it on a xbox controller.
Let's just wait and see. FD is taking a different approach and going for no-gravity FPS action. Should be fun

You mean an engine that had to be gutted and redone heavily? at any rate, this works in SC's advantage regardless as that engine puts out much more immersive and impressive graphics.
2) BARE BONES - YES ... a game that is bragging release just because it has a damn early version of its PU available.... and I say EARLY... because there is barely jack-s*it to do in it... Sorry I play pleanty of sandbox games, just most of them don't revolve around "dock here, grab a quest, waste 5 minutes frame jumping, do the fetch quest, frame jump to hand in location, dock... repeat.... over and over." ... and the slow paced dog fighting... UGH.
Smaller scale? How exactly? Have you seen the features that ED has planned over release and the next expansions? You do realize Elite will have several expansions out by the time SC releases right?
I have... I'm also reading up on it now to make sure I'm not making mistakes.... oh .. so they are paid for expansions (granted season pass... very nice of them I'l give you that.) ... again... the wiki states "A year after ED's Launch" for the first planetside expansion... that is next DECEMBER.... and that is only the "beginning - later FPS, going around your ship and stations ect" .... so in other words....
They are no further into their "full ambition" than SC will be. if we take both timetables into account:
Star Citizen end of 2015 - FPS Module full/ AC 2.0 / Planetside & Social , first chapter of Squadron 42 (10 missions) .... and PU alpha.
ED - Current game fleshed out, planet side a years time.
So... how are they bigger in scale exactly?
Nevermind the clear lack of ships, destructibility, 50 MISSION SINGLE/CO OP PLAYER CAMPAIGN, Story/Races ect ...
ED is a smaller scale project... PERIOD.
but oh wait...
Elite is a sandbox space sim game... do you even know what that means?
... your arguements are not in context.
1) Story Campaign and Commercials, Lore Building, Character builing ... all of this adds to the soul / theme and story of the world that we are in.... BOTH are sandbox games in the end... but SC's sandbox will have alot more fleshed out concept/story behind it. something to relate to... not just souless ships traveling through space.
2) Star Citizen is a Sandbox Sim, a Spaceship Comeptitive Simulator mode (AC) and a Single Player/Co OP game built into one mate... BIGGER SCALE AGAIN.... all adds up.
3) SOUL - 30 year franchise? so what..... its souless and mundain in its theme, its graphics ... its presentation .... ugh.
"but but real landings in a year!" ... ok ... "Then First person after that" ... judging by the lesser quality/immersion and overall art/modeling/destruction ect I can't wait to see how mediocre their FPS module turns out to be compared to one in CryEngine.... should be a good laugh.

Actually if you read the Cry Engine wiki... its far more than FPS ... and is (other than its networking side which is the main problem SC faced) suitable.... for both.... clearly shown by the better faster paced dog fighting design.
Oh no gravity? sorry matey... "no gravity movement and fighting" is confirmed already under developement/first trials on the Squadron 42 module and they are "making it as fun and fleshed out as the FPS and Dogfighting" ... oh whats that? again BIGGER SCALE PROJECT.
We can pussy foot all night... at the end of the day. SC is a bigger project... far more detailed... and isn't relying on PG buzzworded malarky.
Its not wrong to enjoy both, but I'm tired of the relentless loud minority of ED fans trying to s*it on SC forums because they can play a very BARE BONES PU ALPHA already ... on a project with far less detail and ambition.

2) BARE BONES - YES ... a game that is bragging release just because it has a damn early version of its PU available.... and I say EARLY... because there is barely jack-s*it to do in it... I've played considerable more now over the weekend, its a copy-paste with lsight variety repetitive generated mess where I spend most of my time friggin frame-jumping... whoa amazing... truly.
Just because you don't know how to play a sandbox game, that dosn't make it a bad game. I log in daily and there's always something to do and someone to fight. A LOT of features are missing but they're lightyears ahead of gameplay than what SC is right now... and there's even more features coming next week.
Sorry I play pleanty of sandbox games, just most of them don't revolve around "dock here, grab a quest, waste 5 minutes frame jumping, do the fetch quest, frame jump to hand in location, dock... repeat.... over and over." ... and the slow paced dog fighting... UGH.
The dogfighting in Elite is meant to be tactical. Not twitch-based like SC or like other FPS. If you can't handle thinking and planning out your moves, don't play Elite.
PERIOD.
Listen, it really isn't a smaller scale. It's just going for a different feel. Elite will do things that SC will not and SC will do thinks that ED will not. Can you accept that?
but oh wait...
Elite is a sandbox space sim game... do you even know what that means?
... your arguements are not in context.
Commercials give it soul? Are you kidding me? You literally came here and said one of the best sandbox games of all time, doesn't have soul. I shouldn't even be commenting on this ridiculous notion.
2) Star Citizen is a Sandbox Sim, a Spaceship Comeptitive Simulator mode (AC) and a Single Player/Co OP game built into one mate... BIGGER SCALE AGAIN.... all adds up.
It's not a sandbox sim though is it.
3) SOUL - 30 year franchise? so what..... its souless and mundain in its theme, its graphics ... its presentation .... ugh.
It's graphics are souless? You really are crawling in the gutter with these comments mate.
Actually if you read the Cry Engine wiki... its far more than FPS ... and is (other than its networking side which is the main problem SC faced) suitable.... for both.... clearly shown by the better faster paced dog fighting design.
Is that why SC plays exactly like and FPS in space? Is that why every dogfight resolves around strafing battles?
Oh no gravity? sorry matey... "no gravity movement and fighting" is confirmed already under developement/first trials on the Squadron 42 module and they are "making it as fun and fleshed out as the FPS and Dogfighting" ... oh whats that? again BIGGER SCALE PROJECT.
I don't get it. SC claims to eventually have every feature under the sun. Let's just wait and see how these features will be gameplay wise ok?
We can pussy foot all night... at the end of the day. SC is a bigger project... far more detailed... and isn't relying on PG buzzworded malarky.
Its not wrong to enjoy both, but I'm tired of the relentless loud minority of ED fans trying to s*it on SC forums because they can play a very BARE BONES PU ALPHA already ... on a project with far less detail and ambition.
ED is the better game right now. There's more to do, the core gameplay is mostly there, what is there mostly works and more stuff will be playable sooner. Stop comparing what ED does now with what SC will do in a few years time.

So we can safely conclude you've never played ED even though you've claimed you have. You've probably just watched a few youtube videos of other people playing and think you know how the flight mechanics work. ED flies nothing like SC.
Anyway, dogfighting in ED is tactical. You need to plan out your maneuvering. Yaw is nerfed on purpose to avoid the thing that is plaguing SC dogfighting. Turreting.
Turreting is the simple most effective way of dogfighing in SC, just aim towards your opponent and shoot... maneuvering your ship plays a much lesser factor in the whole ordeal. It's just twitch based with very little tactical preparation... just like an FPS minus much of the cover/obstacle work.
Go look up isinova on youtube for some amazing ED flying. Then try and find me anything even remotely as remarkable in SC.

So.. slower turning and moving, live I have already stated, you can keep claiming I havn't played the game just because I don't meet your PERCEPTION of the game, but nothing I said is a lie or based on videos.
It's akin to friggin WW2 dogfighting in space... limited manuverability as if you was in atmospheric flight which makes no sense, so much for the mighty realistic ED. Not that I'm saying SC is REALLY realistic... we can only guesstimate how it will be done in reality.
Your opinion on "Turret fighting" is just that.... pleanty of WW2 dogfighters out there for you already. nevermind the fact that it's going to be tweaked heavily before release. Either way, playing both and watching much better pilots than myself play, SC's dogfighting is faster, more intense and far cooler to fly and watch IMO ofcourse, im not like you stating its "boring" as a fact of life.
Honestly.... this arguement reminds me of the old days of comparing Halo to Unreal Tournement... the Halo scrubs would always say "its slower and more tactical" ... yet not it wasn't .... same with FFXIV:ARR and WoW .... FF is slower.. but in no way more tactical.
Apperently "Twitch" is now a dirty word because you feel smarted for slower paced gameplay.... yea keep pretending you are thinking "harder" than the twitch... you are really not.
I guess if you have the money to gamble with. There are a 1000 things that can happen to the game before it releases that could dampen your enthusiasm. Finally, when the game hits, you may just not like it. A hell of a gamble... I'd rather play poker.

You claimed the flight models were similar. They are like night and day. So yeah, I conclude you haven't played ED.
It's akin to friggin WW2 dogfighting in space... limited manuverability as if you was in atmospheric flight which makes no sense, so much for the mighty realistic ED. Not that I'm saying SC is REALLY realistic... we can only guesstimate how it will be done in reality.
Yeah it's like WW2 in space. WW2 dogfighting is actually freaking great. In SC you don't really need to chase your opponent, you just move around and aim at anything you want to shoot at .... i.e. Turret.
Also ED never claimed to be 100% realistic.. it has a lot of realism but it has some very smart non-realistic edits for good gameplay. DB has said this numerous times...
Your opinion on "Turret fighting" is just that.... pleanty of WW2 dogfighters out there for you already. nevermind the fact that it's going to be tweaked heavily before release. But it is boring... because you only need to do one thing to be successful. Turret. It is as shallow as shallow gameplay comes. SC dogfighting is faster sure.. it's not more exciting at all though. Not imho anyway. There's not a single pilot or video I remember playing against or watching that I would say "Wow.. that's freaking awesome flying". Not a single one.
Huh? Halo? Sorry I don't come from a console background. I remember the Quake 2 vs Unreal Tournament arguments. Both games were great and had a lot of merit and skill involved. It really isn't the same with ED vs SC gameplay right now... SC has very little to show for.
Apperently "Twitch" is now a dirty word because you feel smarted for slower paced gameplay.... yea keep pretending you are thinking "harder" than the twitch... you are really not.
Twitch is fine, I play plenty of games requiring it. However I don't think "The Best Space Sim Ever" is developing very well when twitch skills are the only thing you need.

Except that those numbers are far to be accurate as "people".
I would be surprised that if for real, they had more than 100k-150k PEOPLE.
Not a coincidence the "number of people" was not mentioned in their entry to the Guiness Book Record, just the money acquired.
It's not really difficult to notice, comparing the price of how they grow exactly in the point where they put one of these limited-ships on sale, a trend that just an average of 5k actually buy them all (where by 5k it could include the same people buying in different accounts, a common behavior in their community).
By the way. I see a lot of posts here talking about polls and what the "community" chosen. Its important to those looking into that, noticing that even accounts not associated with any pledge can vote in that polls. So here you got an idea why those people create their additional accounts there. To try to make their wish/opinion prevail. And even this way, they always got results that barely (statistically) could be considered as a "wish of the community" if you take as the community that number of 600k backers (less but still not representative in the time of such polls).
And then, CIG takes the "decision" to keep or remove counters or SG's according with such "wish of 0.5%" of the community (that actually includes votes of non-backers - or backers with multiple accounts with or without pledge associated voting).

Yeah, the soon reached 59 million are coming out of thin air...
Just keep the stabs at SC coming! Does the anti-SC brigade at least agree on the money being real, or is there some theory they are paying their growing 280 man team with monopoly money?
Comments
hah... because we are talking about 2 seperate polls, I did not look at the crowd funding value of your poll, being at the 23 million mark.
47 million was the vote to stop stretch goals because of feature creep. therefore killing the main insentive.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/star-citizen-community-votes-to-continue-stretch-goals-as-funding-reaches-47-million/
I'l admit I was wrong, but all of my content being BS because of that? again, you have obviously read enough of the rest of the posts, what else is bullshit sir? nothing.
Yea.. and thanks to that apperent "lesser concept ship" (whatever that means) we now have a large salvage ship. a luxury cruise ship and a hospital/science ship .. because they were CHOSEN BY THE COMMUNITY....
They voted and offered to pledge those ships. (minus the cruise... it was already there afiak)
How is that any less valid than any other incomplete ship? you make it sound like they are going to lie and not do it? the game is 18-24 months off completion...
again what have I said that is bullshit? my wording was wrong. and what else is bullshit?

Principles.. Very people have them anymore.
