Oh wait... nevermind, that' isn't really the case now is it?

Lets start with the fact that rhe OP didnt even acknowledge that there will be different ruleaet servers. So the Open PvP gankfest he is whinning about will most likely be avoidable.

I hope the OP is wrong.. I fear he may be right..

DETAILS DEVS... the is almost ZERO information that we can attribute to an official website source. Just 'stuff said on streams'

It could be an awesome game.. I hope it pees on DayZ (because Bohemia seriously SUCK).. but the lack of concrete design brief makes me ultra-cynical.

Well, I'll give you that.. Bohemia's Arma2.5 and Arma3 is better, but  STILL sucks, but PS2 is not exactly an 'awesome' bug-free engine either and as for rendering anything passable as 'ultra real' PS2? don't make me laugh.

    Wow, was I wrong.

This is just a DayZ wanna-be.  Just a stupid open world PvP gank fest, with no true survival game mechanics and where zombies rate below mosquitos in term of threat.

I see what's coming:  I spawn as a new survivor.  I take a foot step.  BAM!  I've been hit by a sniper 2.5 miles away - perfect shot, middle of my forehead.  Just for good measure, the bullet  does fusion & fission damage over time.  The sniper is wearing camo'ed, obsidian, titanium, head-to-foot armor.  And just to make the whole experience suck even more, this sniper (and his buddies) have managed to get this weaponry and armor, even though the game's only be available to everyone for 2 days.

    -----------

I want The Walking Dead MMO.

I want a game where a great day is finding a can opener that works.

I want a game where an aluminum bat is worth 100x an assault rifle, because a bat kills silently and doesn't get stuck in a zombie's head.  Fire a gun and you get 1,000 zombies on you in minutes.

I want a game where I can take a hacksaw, a foot-long piece of PVC pipe, duct tape, and from that update the forearm part of a leather coat to make it bite-proof.

I want a game that recognizes that if I hole-up in a two-story house and have de-constructed the staircase to the 2nd floor, that I am pretty safe from zombies and can rest a bit.

I want a game where all the clothing is torn, ripped, and stained.  Where all men have beards and everyone's hair is long and stringy.

I want to see lots of burned out and breaking-down buildings.  I want to come upon a stream and wonder if the water is safe to drink - did they shut down the nearby nuclear plant in time?

    --------------------------------

It looks like I will keep waiting for that game.  It doesn't seem like SOE's H1DayZ1 is it.

    Sigh.

THE SOE HATE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE! GOOD GOOD LET YOUR ANGER FLOW!

I laugh that people still feel the need to defend SOE and Smed. Like really, they haven't already burned every bridge known? Although yes, its way early to tell, however, there comes time when you have to just be open to accept the fact that not everyone deserves the "benefit of the doubt". Its good to be skeptical in some cases.

Anyways, as a "SWG fan", I can say, that so far with everything said, and mentioned about H1Z1, so far it holds 0 appeal to me personally as well.

All I want to know is why would I play this over Dayz Epoch not to mention the new Arma III Epoch coming soon? Seems to me SOE still can't achieve the level of features a free MOD does.

Now that I think about it, neckbeards are never an option during character creation in mmorpg's.  End this trend now!

My impression at this point is that SOE looked at the "DayZ Phenomenon" and saw an easy opportunity.

The games built around the "zombie/survival mode" game play have all suffered from subpar quality and chaotic development. I think SOE realised they have a great engine that could easily handle that kind of game, and decided to use their tech assets and game project experience to launch a working zombie survival game before the competing games really hit their stride.

The fact that it will be an F2P game gives it an early advantage over the competition. The development costs will be low (small team of around 20), plus they're using a "battle-tested" engine that has already been fully developed previously.

It will most probably be the cheapest game SOE ever develops. It will have minimal game play systems and the bulk of the contents seems to be maps and world design. It won't have to earn much money to pay for it's existence, and it can fill-out the All Access sub that they've just launched.

    Very disappointing indeed.

All the DayZ fans want a DayZ clone that they will play for a week before returning to DayZ.....and SOE will listen, and be stuck with a game created for people who no longer play. Seems the past repeats itself...over and over and over.

So pretty much like DayZ stand alone except without the servers that can't even re-spawn items?

    ----

Sorry, but DayZ is not even a finished game yet. It's nothing but a neat concept with too many bugs and missing features. If it ever becomes a proper game with polish we can discuss how it is different from game X. Until then i would not even mention DayZ in any serious discussion.

    ----

At least H1Z1 has a proven highly scaleable and performant multiplayer open world engine as opposed to the trash that is the ARMA 2.5 Engine DayZ stand alone uses.

i am looking forward to H1Z1 but i am still very worried about how SOE will manage that game. It is a free to play game monetized by a cash shop. DayZ is not free and it doesnt have a cash shop. To play dayz you either buy Arma 2, or buy the DayZ standalone so you know you have a game without restrictions that can be bypassed with real money. That is my main concern with H1Z1. SOE will run their own servers so we will be at their mercy with whatever they add to the cash shop. Im sure H1Z1 will have superior production value (and a better engine), but based on other SOE F2P mmos i am almost safe to assume it will be a cash grab and not a real DayZ competitor.

No one said anything about 'ultra real'.

At least H1Z1 has an engine that has proven to be able to handle massive amounts of players on screen in huge fights with more than acceptable graphical fidelity. On the other hand you have Arma 2.5 which can't even handle wall clipping or item re-spawning.

Well that sucks, if they are building this around dayz lol. That game never keeps people long, maybe like a month tops and every one moves on, but the server owners, and the modders. I dont see anything that makes this like SWG which i just played, infact it sounds retarded.

If they made it like the OP said, i would def be playing, well no not really lol. I wouldent play a sony game, every ones gotta know by now lol, they will close this game down, within a year of its start, if not sooner. Sony is the most evil mmo company there is out there.

I mean if a game with a  fan base already WIZARDRY gets shut down before it even gets started, what hope does a pay game, which will have a cash shop, have to against dayz.... They would have more people come if they just remade star wars galxies, even if they used the same engine, but just changed the name to, star fun or something, and changed the story line a bit lol.

Queue in Planetside 2. Which if it was anything like the original could have been amazing. As far as I can tell anything SoE touches rots and dies. Pretty much every IP they made or bought they ended up either destroying what was once a good game or franchise, or release a horrible f2p game that targets casuals so they can rake in the cashshop money.

I hope they get this one right, but its SoE. I know I am in store for disappointment.

Cant be disappointed in a game that isn't even out yet. Its illogical.

Played:SWG(pre NGE/CU sucked)Yep its true, anyone who quit SWG because of the NGE/CU missed out on a much better combat system. DCUO, Fallen Earth, STO, The Secret World. Battlefield series. Planetside 2. Still playing SWG.

  • TyserieTyserie Member UncommonPosts: 155

The game looks from beginning like trash and total copy of DayZ. If you would show me game video without knowing is SOE game, I would say it's DayZ. There will be maybe less bugs, not sure, but its same game.

No pve player with brain could think this will be something for him. Sure, pvp guys are happy, its exactly what they need. No hard to please them ;) No hard to please crowd these days. Ppl will buy anything and if someone will say that it's not good enough, they will just shout him out.

SOE just see the success of DayZ and they want some part of that cake. And with the graphic and world design (looks still like mod made by one guy) and the huuuge band of "omg, I am so exciting play this game, shut up and take my money" persons, they will probably be very happy after release.

The real point is they said this was a game for SWG fans. And its just a DayZ clone. SOE saw how much people still miss swg, and made that statement. SOE saw how much people are jumping on the dayz style survival genre, and made a dayz clone. Back in the day they saw how much everyone loved WoW and took one of the greatest sandbox mmos ever made and turned it into a WoW clone with a star wars skin.

    Has SOE changed at all?

    Doubt it.

Hmmm...seems PlanetSide2 is doing very good right now and is going into PS4 Beta this month.   Your opinion =/= all knowing blanketing facts.

Hi, you must be new to these boards.  Where everyone is disappointed in every released and unreleased game.  If you are not completely disappointed with all of these things you will be quickly promoted to White Knight and forever ridiculed.  image

Cos it's not all black and white and the world keeps on turning.

Planetside 2 for example is a pretty darn good game.

Simply because SOE is the longest-lasting, most productive and most inspired MMO developer in the western market !

    SOE developed:

    • EQ I and EQ II
    • StarWars Galaxies
    • Planetside 1 and 2
    • Landmark (in development)
    • H1Z1 (in development)
    • EQ:Next (in development)

In fact, SOE have developed more AAA MMO's than any other developer in the west, by an order of magnitude.

They have also published several MMO's from other developers. If SOE hadn't rescued Vanguard:SoH from the ineptitude of Sigil Games, we would never have had the opportunity to play that great game.

And yes, they also made one horrible mistake (SWG:NGE), but I eventually got over that after a few years... image
