I played both ESO and TSW. What turned me off of TSW is how they implemented their skill system. The system itself was a good mechanic, but the skills...none of them really made me feel like I made the character I wanted. Then when you go to the PvP...it's a joke... fun though. I only did a couple dungeons in TSW, which were pretty cool but besides that ESO has a better skill system, PvP, social hubs... I don't know TSW didn't feel good enough for a monthly (and it doesn't have one any more), but ESO is worth the 15 bucks a month in my opinion. Tried to play TSW again a month or two ago and it's still good, but ESO just feels better in every aspect. Maybe it's the combat/skill issue that prevents me from really enjoying TSW since that was the main reason why I beta tested and bought it originally.
ESO ftw!!! They ACTUALLY LISTEN to their players and add new content (good content, mind you) on a daily basis. They make changes based on player feedback, and talk to players about the new content. The game is so much better than when it originally released, and after the Champion and Justice systems are released in 1.6, it will be like a completely different game.
I know we should respect each others opinion and taste, but there is something really wrong with this Faceoff when LOTR is winning the semi ????!!!!
Really, most people don't even know this game. I played it, it's not bad, but it's nothing great. It's a WoW Clone with LOTR pasted on it.
EVE, WoW, Ultimate Online to name some, are so much more respected.
Sure WoW has haters (I didn't play it since vanilla), but it has a huge community, and so many features.
I really don't get how LOTR got there????
Am I missing something?
I like LOTRO a lot better than I liked WoW, or GW2, Eve, and ESO for that matter. So I am really glad that LOTRO is still in the running. LOTRO ftw!!!!
I have played both. I died a little inside playing ESO. How many animals/people goes astray and missing during the first two zones and with no one else to find them but you? Great quest diversity there.
The only thing ESO has over TSW, is crafting. Nice system I want that. In all other regards, ESO loses.
You obviously haven't played ESO, the quests are nothing like that.
Also, TSW doesn't have massive-scale PvP, or a crime system, or a decent crafting system, or actual endgame content.
I have played ESO. Gave it a few days in the beginning. And unless they have changed the quests since I did, there are a lot of those quests. In the first two zones (after escaping the prison) most of what I did was meet people ho said that person X, dog Y or animal Z was missing. Please find them. Not very interesting. In TSW I do combat, sabotage and investigation missions from day 1.
Also, as I don't care much for PvP, ESO does not win there for me.
Setting wise a crime system does not belong in TSW, we're all the "good guys".
And I already gave you points for better crafting, nice rehash there.
And what are the raids, nightmare dungeons or scenarios if not endgame content?
If TESO wins, it would be only because of its licence.
Since the month of June, the devs has been doing a massive reworking of the game. Even them doesn't consider the game as good as it should be. Yes, it has its qualities like the PvP. But the mechanisms are not there yet - starting with the justice system stated by one of the troll that is just partly present - and the game is still too much buggy for its ambitions.
Personnaly, I'm waiting for the spellcrafting. Maybe this will allow the personnalisation to become on par with the possibilities of TSW.
But I don't see how they will reach TSW on the narration, with only basic quest and the repetitive story - each area is about saving a new person from a conspiration involving a new sect. u_u
Yet, I don't see TSW winning this one: better community but less numerous.

i play tsw and have some money to spare , can you tell me where you find the pay to win button. i can use that greatly. Most folks there are way better than me

lol, you should be ashamed of lying. You have not played it. The "money shop" only sells cosmetic stuff.

... really funny .
Now You can ride on Your $paid horse towards the ESO sunset, knowing that You made absurd comment .
Rainbow unicorn award for that gentelman!
Actually looking on what Nezir&co is doing (mostly lieing and acusing everyone that does not agree with him) I don't feel like getting back to ESO anymore. I was going to give this game a second ride in new year, but with that kind of community? Not my kind of fun.
LotRO being WoW clone? Hahahahahahahah well yea you use 1234 etc to use your skills...
I won't be hipster on this one and I'll vote like majority so - LotRO and TSW Not that i didn't like EVE cause it's almost as awesome as LotRO. But ESO? C'mon...
voted for TSW (ofc ^^) i played both, ESO hooked me for a little while but i couldn't face the veteran rank grind, made it to vet rank 2 and gave up. it was ok up until the 2nd faction run through (wasnt overly happy with the final story part and while known voice actors is a good hook, it obliterated any immersion i had with the game. why is dumbledore giving me quests again?)
all the hate is just "go team goooo" I vote for what I like and what I have blown alota cash on because its worth it to me. so to all the pissy haters -just shut up and play.
ESO/ TSW wasn't really a decision for me. I don't play either anymore.
EVE and LotRO is a rough one for me because I play both and have for 10 and 7 years respectively. None of the things I do in either is an option in the other. I like them both.
Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Its so sad that the combat in TSW under par is by a few miles.... Because it would have been a hell of a game with great less repetitive combat...
That didn't bother me nearly as much as the fact that for months it was promoted as having 3 faction PVP but it turned out to be all in one small little scenario.
We have 3 pvp battlegrounds over in TSW.
Stonehenge, El Dorado and Fusang.
And you can kill folks on both the wrong factions. I murder Templar and Dragon alike.
Fusang is a persistent battleground while Stonehenge and El Dorado run for 15 minutes at the most, I think. You can end SH and ED before the enlotted time by completing the zone objectives (SH = holding the middle while murdering everyone many many times, ED = holding all four relics at the same time for 90 seconds).
Personally I prefer El Dorado.

Aaaaand the 1 posts guys are back.
I don't like TESO either, but having TSW leading? Pfft...
Somebody is really invested into creating new accounts just so they could vote
Just my 2 cents.
whats wrong with that? I like tsw so i created an account so that i could vote.
Isn't that pretty much the point of the Face-off?

SO VOTE FOR IT! GO ESO!!!!
I agree.

i did enjoy the pvp in eso though
