I've played the changes on TC and so far there's nothing hugely wrong yet. There are some animations for some of the Heavies that are a little iffy and an annoying bug where if you click on something like a terminal with a Heavy equipped, the weapon will fire off. Something simillar happens on vehicles too, it'll say you can't but it'll still fire it (doing no damage to anything tho). From reading what people are saying on the TCPA chat room on TC, it seems pretty good so far and smoothes out alot of rough areas. Of course, how things behave on TC is not always how it will behave on Live.
Shayde, DOTs do still exist, and it's also added back into the DWB with this Pub Medic's death cloud is a DOT for instance, and most of the Heavies add a DOT when fired.
Yes it does bother me that you still play. Why....
1.) Its preventing me from getting my beloved pre-cu server or a rollback to pre-cu. If enough of you stick around, SOE wont ever go back. If enough leave (and I think we're very close) then SOE will admit their mistake and roll back the servers.
2.) It sets a very bad example for other mmorpg developers out there. It says what SOE has done is okay with the players (like you) and therefore we can do it also. We can now revamp major changes into a mmorpg and the players will just suck it up and take it.
3.) It says its okay to release a shoddy bug-filled product and use player subscriber money to later finish it. Why would SOE ever release completed expansions, working publishes, etc when they can just put in artificial bugs to gat players advancement and then fix it later with your $15 a month ? By you continuing to pay SOE, you are saying its okay for SOE to dump bugs into a game and fix them later.
I dont care if your having fun. All that matters is your still paying them and that affects us all

3. I don't know why, but I'm very rarely affected by bugs, even though I'm doing stuff that is supposebly bugged for others, so my view is different there.
As for the whole "they're adding back stuff that was already int he game", well usually that is the nature of a revamp Yes, Heavy Weapons have been in the game since release up till the NGE, but they're coming back different (the way you use them, damage, etc) and in most Commandos opinions, better.

I and numorous people have found all this artwork that really belongs to the Star Wars universe, while instead of USING it they kept putting in crap that had NOTHING to do with star wars. THEN, they constantly take stuff away, and put it back. take stuff away, and put it back. They give up before they try. I'm glad you're having fun, but don't be blind at the same time and try and stick up for a company that has yet to deliver something they've promised without taking it away a few patches later.

EVERY single publish list they've come out with has had at least (and I'm being nice here) one declared add in or fix that was nowhere to be seen when it launched. Their writen word means NOTHING, I'd sooner trust a congressman before SOE. They promise to fix issues, but instead they just change the game and ingore the issues.
This game has little to do with Star Wars but skin and texture. Story lines shot to hell and beyond, but we've gone there already and it's become intrensic to us to know about what all I'm refering to without saying anything more.

If you think it's just fixing things that were broke with the NGE then you need to read it again. And before you spout off on how I'm wrong, there are lots of improvements to the game in it. You name some for me, I'm tired.

Correction slick, Heavy Weapons are being RE-enabled because they turned them off to rush out the NGE. Get your story straight.

AA... Enjoying the game is fine and dandy. If Obraik is really enjoying the game, which I often doubt, then by all means more power to him and I hope he gets to enjoy it for years to come! But the truth of the matter is that, if you look at the OP again, the first 4 points (Publish Gift, Heavy Weapons, Profession: Jedi and Stealth and Traps) are "added content". Some of it could be debatable because for example, Heavy Weapons is just re-adding something that was taken away, so the use of the words "added content" is questionable. The rest of it is just one HUGE list of bugfixes! And without the question of how many of these "fixes" will break something else, this just speaks of mediocrity and it becoming acceptable. That's why I said that when people are used to mediocrity, they'll get excited with garbage like this.
Honestly, no matter who you are, how you come about your money or if you enjoy this game or not, it shouldn't come to the point where people are getting excited about things that will be finally fixed on something that you are paying $15 a month for.

Correct, they don't deserve any credit for this publish. If they had any respect for their playerbase, they would have polished the "NGE" to the point that it didn't require months of successive fixing.
I really don't understand what the suits at $OE are smoking. They release an extremely controversial makeover to their 2+ year old game. Every bit of logic would dictate that in doing so, they would release this makeover in the most pristine form possible in order to minimize the negative impact. Instead, you now alienate the veterans (granted: not much they could do to avoid this) PLUS you piss off the people who might have supported the makeover due to it being rushed.
I disagree, it's a huge publish but I won't argue any longer with you. No matter what they do from here on in I suspect it won't be enough for you, correct?
On a side not I noticed that at London Drugs there were a whole shwack of starter kits (I think 6) and last night I checked to see if they were still there and they were all sold. I found it hard to believe and thought they might have been recalled or something (too much time on this negative wasteland we call a forum) so I asked they guy behind the counter and he said yes they all sold.
woah, thats aloooot of stuff. If all the publishes will contain this many improvements then sky is the limit for SWG. I foresee great things for this game in the future.

You should know dam well he isn't the reason you can't play pre-CU and there isn't a chance in hell they will roll servers back. AA... Enjoying the game is fine and dandy. If Obraik is really enjoying the game, which I often doubt, then by all means more power to him and I hope he gets to enjoy it for years to come! But the truth of the matter is that, if you look at the OP again, the first 4 points (Publish Gift, Heavy Weapons, Profession: Jedi and Stealth and Traps) are "added content". Some of it could be debatable because for example, Heavy Weapons is just re-adding something that was taken away, so the use of the words "added content" is questionable. The rest of it is just one HUGE list of bugfixes! And without the question of how many of these "fixes" will break something else, this just speaks of mediocrity and it becoming acceptable. That's why I said that when people are used to mediocrity, they'll get excited with garbage like this.
Honestly, no matter who you are, how you come about your money or if you enjoy this game or not, it shouldn't come to the point where people are getting excited about things that will be finally fixed on something that you are paying $15 a month for.

And it really is a nice publish, no matter who you are. You guys have to give them some credit at some point. If they fix things, you say "Those are just fixes of things that should have been working!", if things are broken you say "Look at all that's broken!" LOL.
There has to be a point when you become the bigger person by letting go, no matter how bad someone or company has hurt you. Doesn't there? Not defending SOE at all, they don't deserve that. But for yourselves, you have to walk away in some way at some point.

Now, after all this time, people are to the point of being happy when a "live" product goes from alpha to beta. Do you realize how silly the entire situation is? People have been *paying* to alpha and beta test a game that just went back into alpha for all intents and purposes.

Correct, they don't deserve any credit for this publish. If they had any respect for their playerbase, they would have polished the "NGE" to the point that it didn't require months of successive fixing.
I really don't understand what the suits at $OE are smoking. They release an extremely controversial makeover to their 2+ year old game. Every bit of logic would dictate that in doing so, they would release this makeover in the most pristine form possible in order to minimize the negative impact. Instead, you now alienate the veterans (granted: not much they could do to avoid this) PLUS you piss off the people who might have supported the makeover due to it being rushed.
I disagree, it's a huge publish but I won't argue any longer with you. No matter what they do from here on in I suspect it won't be enough for you, correct?
On a side not I noticed that at London Drugs there were a whole shwack of starter kits (I think 6) and last night I checked to see if they were still there and they were all sold. I found it hard to believe and thought they might have been recalled or something (too much time on this negative wasteland we call a forum) so I asked they guy behind the counter and he said yes they all sold.
woah, thats aloooot of stuff. If all the publishes will contain this many improvements then sky is the limit for SWG. I foresee great things for this game in the future.
