Wasn't aware wave works and turf effects were out in 2007. Thanks for the knowledge!
EXACTLY what I wanted to see. The real physics, collision and spell wall mechanics are precisely as I hoped. This is what is required in a real pvp game. AC has some of these elements. AC 2 tried to have a few more of these elements (walls). Then the industry abandoned the concept for the most part in mmos.
In AC you could cast a spell at someone not paying attention across the entire map and it could hit them. Archery arced and could miss. 16 years later and finally a real physics based pvp mmo. This will be utterly amazing.
You can even construct your own spells (and melee) how you want. AC had to put in dart style and pbaoe spells because pvp demanded it ... you can simply construct your own spells how your play style and environment demands which is an incredibly important tactical option.
Can't wait to see where this game heads over the next 15 months (although I believe it will be delayed a few months but fine by me considering the issues with hiring staff they had early on).
Btw ... all buildings are player made (those examples shown). Only the main city and starting areas are built by devs. Technically nothing of the world is made yet but I imagine 6 months from now when beta is nearing we will see major steps forward with this including actual class testing.
You stay sassy!
As always: everything looks great and glorious - until the whiners (=majority of (pvp-)players) step in. It will get stripped down till its backbone is like a snake. We thought building those games without publishers will help. it doesnt, because in the end, they want to sell their shit to those whiners (=majority).
Looking good! I hope this will be as fun as DAOC even though I am worried about that it is a PVP-only game. I dubbed myself as a PVP:er when I started to play Warhammer but after only PVP:ing at 50 I really wished for more PvE-content to get a break from the PVP from time to time.
In this video I didn't like some of the races. It's cool to see one or two with wings but if one of the factions have over 100 in an army it is just ugly. Guess I have to learn to live with that.
I also hope that the developers don't have too many knockback abilities or too short cooldowns. Sure it's fun but it gets old pretty Quick to get pushed from the walls on an ability on a too short cooldown. No skill what so ever to get off an ability like that and still it is frustrating as hell for the target.
DAOC had area of effect mez that lasted for very long and was easy to get off. When you got it off you could then chainkill one by one of the enemies easily if you used main target. So it all came down to who got away the mez first and if the enemies had their purge up or not.
In Warhammer they had too many frustrating stuns, knockbacks, long range pulls etc.
So I really hope they will balance that Before release. Don't get me wrong, I love CC, but it needs to be balanced.
We'll have to see in 15 months where things are, this isn't even a game yet. It's just early pre alpha testing.
And i didn't quote the guy who asked about spell ranges etc.. They aren't infinite. They can be dodged by just moving out of the way at the last second sometimes, if you're paying attention.
I won't even discuss cooldowns. The game's not balanced at all, it's just a pre alpha
MMOs were out in 2007 and that game looks like Vanguard.
Before another (was it 6th I saw today?) ButtWings comment appears, just let me say that St`rm is my favorite race so far. Also have in mind that the toons here are more-less naked, gear & fancy animations etc. will come later.
For anyone interested, here you can see some concept art, then animations and some more. And yes, I also hope that they will put those wings bit higher
Fantasy and imagination.
Also not a single Class within the Chordata Phylum in the history of Earth has every developed wings on it's back along with arms ... yet nobody here blinks an eye at Fantasy drawing creatures like that even though it also makes zero sense.
People are scared when they see something new. Dragon Flies have 2 pairs of wings with one pair lower down near what would be their "waist" and neither strange and near living fossil occurrence trips people out.
No idea what the final edit will be but I'd be a little sad if they caved and changed it. They will look fine either way I imagine.
You stay sassy!
Fixed it for you.

Yea it's ZERO PvE. What a waste of talented material. For the record, I think the game looks remarkably bad and the animations and physics look horrendous.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
So this is just a PVP game? Another one to scratch off my list!
PvP is a niche within a niche market and to make an MMO without PvE is to remove any vestige or semblance of the genre in which it attempts to call itself. This game should be made into a Lobby based MOBA or some other such title but to label it as an RPG is a travesty to the RPG label.

... I am pleased with how the physics works.
I think these guys could have something really good to grow on and get big with.
That said, I'd like to see their take on a version of pve that fits their game and vision. If they did it well it would compliment and give the game lots of depth.
