Yea it's ZERO PvE.  What a waste of talented material.  For the record, I think the game looks remarkably bad and the animations and physics look horrendous.

So this is just a PVP game?  Another one to scratch off my list!

PvP is a niche within a niche market and to make an MMO without PvE is to remove any vestige or semblance of the genre in which it attempts to call itself.  This game should be made into a Lobby based MOBA or some other such title but to label it as an RPG is a travesty to the RPG label.

This is a RvR game with a very in depth Lore. If you genuinely want to know more about the game and exactly why it's a mmorpg i'd recommend you read the back story on the game it's characters etc..  I am not a huge fan of lore, i know a lot of people are. It sounds like you are as well. It's unfortunate that you've given up so quickly on something you know so little about. If you're going to make judgement whether to buy a game on pre alpha video 15 months before release, well then i guess good luck finding that game that makes you happy.

If you genuinely want to know more, go to camelotunchained.com and read up on the Lore, it's all there for your reading pleasure. There is much more to be added as well regarding the game's lore. This isn't a MOBA, or PVP only game, it's a game where you can build and destroy the other realms that you are in conflict with. All i can do is point you to the information if you're interested. Otherwise, it's just your opinion.

    Good day!

This my friends is the saddest part of bitter vet syndrome.

It's one thing to spend hour complaining about how WoW ruined MMOs and how MMOs are dieing.

Yet when an underserved niche is finally getting their own niche game you come here and fume about how it doesn't cater more to your particular niche.

I think these guys could have something really good to grow on and get big with.

That said, I'd like to see their take on a version of pve that fits their game and vision. If they did it well it would compliment and give the game lots of depth.

You will see PvE, and it will, naturally, grow even more after launch (here is couple more opinions on that).

But we must speak this word silently, some people here seem to be confused about it ;)

I think it looks really good, I cannot wait until the beta comes out, since I would rather not try the alpha for 250 dollars currently.

For a game that's scheduled for release in summer 2016 I expected more. This won't be released until 2017.

Despite most of your tinfoil hat posts, this one is pretty spot on.  I love pvp of all forms, but without pve, an mmo gets to feeling real shallow and pointless in a hurry.

More counterstrike with elves (now with demons!).

I wouldn't consider it "pre"-alpha, since it's in a playable state and has many features already, but whatever.  The game looks really solid so far (as in beng in a playable state), but i fear that it's going to be rushed if it's coming out in 15 months.  That's obviously a short time to add and refine what they have so far; such as animations, models, effects, armor, combat, balance, etc.  I'll be surprised if they don't delay the game by at least another 6+ months.
  • yaminsuxyaminsux Member UncommonPosts: 973

The game looks nice, all the core elements are in there. That being said, the game isnt for me just because of the time I have left at the end of the day (looks like it's a huge time commitment).

I wish them good luck, and a smooth launch.

In AC you could cast a spell at someone not paying attention across the entire map and it could hit them. Archery arced and could miss. 16 years later and finally a real physics based pvp mmo. This will be utterly amazing.

Clearly, you did not play Darkfall.

Physics based PvP, with 1500v1500 was done in 2009, too bad you were not there. DFO truly suffered due to a total lack of advertising.

As for Banes and Boons, that is stuff that was pioneered by a game called Champions, later known as the Hero System, and followed by GURPS, the Generic Universal Roleplay System, from Steve Jackson Games. I remember when SJG got raided by the FBI over their Hacker game. Ancient times, it was so totally 80's.

I missed AC, good on you for logging in to that one.

Regarding the lack of PvE, part of what made DAoC so great, was that you could do nothing else but level toons, if that is what you wanted, the PvP was confined to the frontier, and you did not ever need to go there. I do hope they bring that back.

As someone following this game I really DON'T want to see PvE added.  There are design ideas that make for great PvE games, and they are design Ideas that make for great PvP games.... Those ideas are mutually exclusive.

Class Balance, the economy, crafting, and even the world map are all very important to the trype of game you want to make. If you make them great for PvE.... They will not be great for PvP. The reason RvR pvp is always so bad in games is because it gets suck on the side of a PvE game.

I give you Camelot Unchained Foundational Principle #2:

RvR isn't the End game..... It's the only game.

"CU is a TriRealm™, RvR-focused game. It is not an RvR-centric game like Dark Age of Camelot and it is certainly not a “just bolt on the RvR; that will work!” game like so many others. It is as pure an RvR game that I have ever worked on, plain and simple. Everything in this game is geared to the TriRealm concept, whether it is the crafting system, housing, skill progression, etc. You will explore, fight, capture, level, etc. all within a competitive RvR world that was crafted with this FP in mind."

The full list is HERE http://camelotunchained.com/v2/category/foundationalprinciple/ for anyone interested.

    Good day!

I love Lore but just because a game has lore doesn't make it an mmoRPG.  Halo has Lore, Tribes has Lore, League of Legends has lore but it doesn't make them an RPG and as I've said, removing any semblance of PvE goes against the very foundation of an RPG.  And considering an MMO is an online RPG by definition then CU is not an MMO.  It should be labled something else entirely, I don't particularly care what but it IS NOT an MMO.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

Indeed. It's an example of this strange ego-centrism that's rampant among many MMO gamers.

If a MMO in development isn't catered specifically to their tastes, then it's no good.

Nevermind that there are others for whom it's perfect, and specifically designed... those people are irrelevant. If it's not designed specifically for "me", then it's no good.

Also love how people are in the comments section of a video, about a game that is specifically about 3-realm competitive PvP - a fact we've known since the game was first announced, and which has been reiterated many times since.... and they're complaining about a lack of PvE. /facepalm

I wonder if these people would go into a vegetarian restaurant, and then complain about the lack of steak on the menu.

In case you missed it in the video, wave works were mentioned (and later confirmed by MJ on Massively), and Mark also (kind of...) confirmed naval combat.

PS I remember him, in an interview some time ago, praising AA`s naval combat. (I guess the question was something like "What part of AA,GW2, ESO you like the most" or sthg like that, but I CBAed to dig). The implementation, obviously, depends on the numbers/quality of CU`s launch etc.

     Tamanou's. Made a good post

    Fantasy and imagination.

Also not a single Class within the Chordata Phylum in the history of Earth has every developed wings on it's back along with arms ... yet nobody here blinks an eye at Fantasy drawing creatures like that even though it also makes zero sense.

People are scared when they see something new. Dragon Flies have 2 pairs of wings with one pair lower down near what would be their "waist" and neither strange and near living fossil occurrence trips people out.

No idea what the final edit will be but I'd be a little sad if they caved and changed it. They will look fine either way I imagine.

As a person who only prefers PVE, I hope this is awesome for those who like PVP and RVR. I want it to be so great that all PVP players flock there and enjoy the hell out of themselves for the next 10+ years and it caters to their tastes and desires.

I also want a game that focuses only on PVE and gives me the best experience that is similar, to this one without PVP only people complaining about it and giving the game a bad rating because it's too "carebear". Not this game, mind you, some other one.

I bet that I will get trolled for being a person who likes PVE only and someone will not read what I said at all.

Oh also, the wings are great, as all winged creatures should be in games (whether they fly or not, I just like seeing wings) just thought it was weird they decided to put them so far down. Trying to imagine how it would fly and keep its torso upright with wings so small in the position they are in.

This is why it's a niche game and the niche of "RVR" people are looking forward to it. Those that prefer FFA pvp Ganking Looting, Moba style play are looking forward to Crowfall.  They are niche's within niche's so to speak. Crowfall's FFA pvp with faction PVP as an afterthought. Afterthought is never a good idea for any gaming mechanic.  Who knows? Maybe this IP goes PVE next game? :)

  • flizzerflizzer Member RarePosts: 2,455
Not a fan of open world PvP gankfest games so I doubt I will be playing.  However, the game in this early stage looks good from a gameplay mechanics perspective.  Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen might be more my type of game.  Hopefully, PVP people get the game they want.

Range and melee are hard enough to balance, with casters having that much range, how are they going to balance that?
