"Earth and Beyond".... "Beyond" what?? With the amount of content most companies put into a game taking place solely on 1 planet their "Galaxy" was sorely lacking.
I disagree. It was congested, but I didn't find it "sorely lacking". But hey, if we all like the the same game, then most companies wouldn't be in business
One of the things I did not like about this game is that you couldn't go down on a planet and land your ship and walk around, battle enemies on the ground with your character/develop character etc.
Um, you could land on some planets. You could walk around and interact with other players. You couldn't battle while in this mode, but if I wanted to do that, I'd be playing WOW..............
Another thing I was hoping for in this game was to see a type of ship development similar to the "MOO" series but implemented on a MMO scale.
Can't argue here. Ship developemnt/customization was limited at best.
If they are to make an E&B 2 I sincerely hope they put in some of the things mentioned above.
/Agree but I don't want to fight on planets - too many games out like that already.
However, knowing EA - I seriously doubt that they will have the insight or creativity required for such an endeavor. It seems to me all they care about is making a few bucks off the initial hype of their games.
I could not agree with you more! EA is going to be screwed when Madden takes a dirt nap.
It is amazing how many fans are still loyal to EnB years after its sunset, what other game can say that! I played the game from the first day untill about 6 months before sunset. I quit because I moved to an area where I could no longer have broadband internet, but I promised myself as soon as I could afford to move back into "civilization" I would reopen my account. Unfortunatly it was not long before the game closed and my hopes were crushed. I look back and truly regret not keeping my account active and not continuing to play.
I have jumped from mmo to mmo, never truly finding another game that could take the place of EnB.
EVERYONE CHECK OUT THIS..... I have done a domain name search and both earthandbeyond.com .net .org and earthandbeyond2.com .net .org are both taken. And when you go to www.earthandbeyond2.com it takes you to an EA site that is currently hosting something about Command and Conquer. This isn't much, but it gives me a glimmer of hope!
No where else on any of EA's websites does it mention Westwood studios...
Oh....and if you haven't already please sign this Save or Sell Earth and Beyond Petition, it has almost 5,000 signature already Save or Sell Earth and Beyond
I really liked EnB. If i had a credit card back then i would've played it after trial. And the support couldnt really answer my question wether i could use paypal to buy the game or not.
If there would be an EnB2 i would play it. I would even play EnB if the servers would reopen.
EnB was my absolute favorite MMO, and I have jumped through a lot of em. I would even be willing to run a public server from my home if they released the source code (and I had a broadban connection high enough to handle it ) As of right now, I wouldn't care if they had regular updates or not, I just want to be able to fly through my old galaxy again.
EnB was a game I did really enjoy, It was massive fun to play it. I tried eve and SWG afterwards they both weren't what I searched for. Now I am stuck at Jumpgate and I am quite happy there.
Don't tease me.. that was such a fun game.. besides rubberbanding for 30 minutes in net7.. anyone remember doing that? lol. I think it would be a great idea as long as EA doesn't get involved, oh yeah and SOE.. they ruin everything they get their incompetent hands on.. lol.
Tried Jumpgate, wasn't up to par with my expectations of a 2006 mmo. Graphics and gameplay kinda reminded me of 1998'ish software. E&B was way better and if this is the closest thing to it, God help us all. I would love to see a new Space-based MMO with the easy learning curve and good to the guy who can't play 40+ hours a week'ness of Earth & Beyond combined with the graphical beauty and massive playing area of Eve Online. Here's to hoping that happens in our lifetime...
I played a JE on Andromeda and I really miss it. I was a "Founder" (some might remember what that was...hell I still have my EnB beta discs) and played until the beginning of the year it went down. Awhile back I was trying to orchestrate the accumulation of money to approach EA to purchase the EnB source code. I had to stop due to other problems but I'd be willing to help try to get the code again.
I know the game lacked content even from the very launch but I always held out hope that more content was added. Then I saw what EA did to WW and after watching intently, I realized that EA was driving nails into EnB's coffin. I really hate EA for what they do to games. I don't want them to bring back EnB. I want them to let go of the death grip they have on the source code of a game that they shut down and have no intention to do anything with.
This game had ALOT of potential...ALOT. It really angers me that it will just continue to fade away until someone makes a game so similar that except for the name it's indistinguishable from EnB.
Well its almost the 2nd year anniversary of the announcement of enb's cancellation (March 16, 2004). The anniversary of the begining of the end for enb... or is it

Yeah... but with SWG being a steaming pile now and therefore a LOT less competition in the Sci-Fi MMORPG area, that implementation doesn't seem so bad now... :P
I would absolutely love it if they came out with an EnB 2! I think that they could get a good fanbase going if they really put some work into the game and made it significantly different than the first one. I did enjoy this game and I was terribly sad to see it go. I played until the final moment when they shut down the servers. Twas a sad day.
Personally, I won't be getting my hopes up until I hear an official announcement from EA. I wish they would have just left Westwood alone.
E&B was good,EA canceled it because they werent making enough $ ,if E&B2 comes out and they dont get a big pay check each month from the clients of the game they probably cancel E&B2...wouldnt get my hopes up for this...

The reason they had to wait around to get subscribers is because they didn't market the game worth crap... If they would have put money into marketing it...they would have got money out of it, its that simple.

I agree - don't get your hopes up. EA only wants people to buy the flavor of the year (Madden 2008, Nascar 2008, Tiger Woods 2008, NBA 2008, NCAA College Football 2008, NCAA college Basketball 2008, FIFA 2008, NHL 2008, - omg how many titles do they have with 2008 in the title??? - And I'll bet they'll all have a 2009 flavor ). Any MMO that EA owns is doomed from the get go. They do not know how to run an MMO to make it profitable.
MY wife and I both played this game and the only reason we left was because the only time you could really get anything done was at 3 int he morning. AS some people have said, not enough mobs too many high level peeps. Plus the high end people would go into lower level areas and take their stuff too. We really enjoyed the game but that was what killed it for us.
I would love to see Earth and Beyond 2. That would be awesome.
OH yea and as I see people complaining about EA. The original was originally (I believe) Westwood. That was why it was pretty good. EA killed them probably.
