You are wrong about #2. You can do whatever content you want to at whatever time you want to. The only thing that changes is the reward, and what is shown to you in the Recommended missions, which is the default view of the map. To see the other missions, you can click on the various rewards on the right hand side to filter through them, or click on the icon in the bottom right to filter through the type of mission (squad, group, etc).
You guys do realize they are trying to make the game last. If they " GAVE " you exactly what you wanted on day one, you would play for maybe a month and be done.
The way the game is set up now would take around 4 years to unlock everything.
I can only agree with point 3. The first two made me laugh. I respect the opinions and mine is almost totally opposite. I like that I have goals that might not have been worth the effort. That actually seems worthwhile to me as I got a lot of stats while pursuing that goal.
I also have no issue with rewards being the way it is. Skyforge actually works for me as a game to keep me interested. Rewards not what I want then I can log out for 40 minutes and do something I need to before checking again if timer is at max. If it is not too long then I can look through atlas and my stats plus work on my followers.
This game really works for me as it is because I don't feel I am wasting my time. Slow and easy works when not in a hurry and I can try and go fast when I want.

^^ This and many others that have offered counterpoints to the OP's frustrations.
The game has some issues with showing you how to do things and where they are, but they are there. It's beta, so they get a pass.
I think the game is one of the best designed MMO's I've ever encountered. The devs know what they wanted the game to be and it IS that game. It wasn't designed to be your main MMO, the devs have said this and acknowledge gamers play several games at a time.
If you hit your spark cap, there are a bunch of other things to work towards and earn. You may not want to...but it's not like getting sparks is the only thing to do.
I love this game, it's quick, fast, fun, challenging, easy to group up, classes are all unique and interesting to master.
Some people just don't seem to get it though...but that's nothing new. All games have that.

You taught us something. I love positive posters =-)
That was some of the most epic whining about nothing i have seen in a while. Sorry Bill you and players like you are a large part of the reason mmo's suck.
Let's break down your complaints.
1) had to like play the game to unlock an EXTRA class (2 hours is not long and if it is you shouldn't be playing MMORPG's) these games are supposed to keep you occupied for years not 2 weeks. Then the real complaint is the class you unlocked wasnt your cup of tea. BLAME THE DEVLOPERS ROFL.
2) Next complaint is cant get everything you want instantly omg "i didnt get the blue type xp i wanted thus everything else is 100% waste of my time". Wrong the rest of that stuff has use just not what you wanted to blitz through so you can wrap up your review.
Game is a game problem is you play it simply for work purposes, and then blame the game?
The next result is people like you destroyed MMO's wanting everything to be this instant gratification WOW clone. Cause you really dont like to PLAY the games you just want to blitz through and check everything out.
Oh Bill, Bill, Bill, you have not been attentive at the game my good man.
As many have mentioned, Point 2 is just ...wrong. You can access any mission you want. You can even chose how difficult you want the instance (rewards scale with difficulty!). You can even choose either Solo or Group mode.
Either than that, I kind of want to disagree (just a bit!) with point A. Some of the more advanced classes (Witch, Kinetic, Monk) are much harder to play than their earlier counterparts. The 3 starter classes have a good amount of survivability (read "the best") and are very simple to understand. That being said, 100% back you up on "make all the classes purchasable"!!! Take my $10 and let me play the class of my choice!!
I dont see the problem here! I had free premium for 3 days and levelup my atlas pretty damn fast. When i lost that benefit everything got twice longer to get. But thats the way free mmos do. To get to specific class you want, is partially what this game is all about. Imagine that you can have every class you want or you can get to it superfast, then after short time you will get borred and the game will sufer same fate as GW2 (we have everything, we are all equal lets play PVP now, AH! we done it so many times now that we got bored...). Its about journey, not destination.
I just hate the hard caps. Spark cap after 1 day of play. Class cap at 1,5 days.
I hope that they will atleast drop the class spark cap.
that the regions are so useless after 1 playtrough is bugging me too.
The instances ... you unlock enough new ones after some time. And you can access all of them 90% of the time.
I have no problem with the unlock mechanic - and if they will make classes purchaseable w/o a bundle, they will cost more than 10 bucks. 19,99 - i think. Or the will be tiered. T0 (pala, cryo, light): free, T1 (slayer, kinetic, archer, necro) 9,99$, T2 (the rest) 19,99$.
When u look at Firefall its way easier to unlock classes and they ask for 14 bucks (as far as i remember).
I unlocked the Slayer in week 2 and will get my witch probably in week 4. Maybe its to fast, bc you cant level up to many classes at the same time. I will finish my cryo to 100% on wendsday and the rest of the class sparks will went into the slayer. (I am currently at 9,9k prestige)
The progress is fast, but the caps limit you way to much, at least as a coregamer.

Frustration 1: well, i don't find that frustrating and i like the class unlock system as it give you goals. It's just like, well, league of legends: some champsions/classes can be unlocked easilly, other requires more time. And you can try some of them during the x2 reward class bonus runs.
Frustration 2: that's what i like the most, as you are not locked in a content to gain a resource like in other games, where a definite resource is tied to a single content, as they cycle. Even if i need red sparks, if the reward is too low, or if is tied to something i don't like, well, i just do the green one that reward for x3, 'cause i don't need them now, but i will need them for sure later.
"Any time you return after that you get other materials or currencies that don't really help you progress your character". Well, you will gain Spark Replicators and every replicator mean more sparks AND class sparks as drops.

Though, ask yourselves... is it a little weird that I've played 30 hours and haven't noticed the option? I don't think I'm the only one either. It's little polish things like this that just don't work.
But my issues with #2 partly still stand. With the way content "call to actions work" you're still better off working on the suggested content, and not the content you want to play. Part and Parcel to #2, I think a lot of my issues with #2 would be fixed if there weren't so many different currencies for little other reason than "because this way we can limit you."
In short, Skyforge seems to go a long way trying to fix something that's never been broken in an MMO or RPG: experience points. The sparks aren't a fix, because there was nothing to fix.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.
A soft launch to be sure, but still an OBT. Most of the bugs posted here have already been reported. Just head over to their forums and take a look.
Also, is it just me, or does anyone else think it's funny he thinks that it's bad it only took 2 hours to unlock a class. For most it will take 6 days or so.
This isn't an 'I want it now' type of game. You actually have to look and plan ahead.

It took 20 hours to unlock a class, not 2. I'm fixing the typo. And I personally think that's way too long. Note, personally. Unlocking classes should not be the "core" of the game's progression.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.
Your complaint about the class system is that you played for 2 hours to unlock the class and then didn't like it?
That sounds extremely whiny to me.
If you had spent 3 weeks unlocking the class without being able to test it before hand only to not like it then i can understand but not liking the class after working for only 2 hours?
Thats pathetic and comes off as if you want the game to be instant gratification. The point is o work towards a goal of unlocking the class you want. Alot of people want the monk and are actively working towards it and once you get the ability to earn class sparks instead of using colored nodes you can continue to work towards the class you want while still advancing the class you are playing.
I do agree however the social system in this game is the most atrocious thing i have ever seen and layers a whole bunch of nonsense and calls it complexity.
I also see you noticed you CAN go wherever you want so i will leave that part out. Overall the game is alot of fun and i like the idea of having to work for the classes i wan't and then spending time working and building them how i want. That being said the atrocious social system needs to go it is absolutely a terrible feature the way it is set up and only bogs the game down. Also we need the mentoring system the RU version has it will be better.

I think GW2 did it right. They said leveling should be easy because players want end game. I've leveled 8 classes and still log in regularly to do events. Games that make it too hard, I just stay for awhile and move on. Epic battles are nice but every battle shouldn't be one.

2 hours 20 hours 200 hours... 2000 hours may be a bit extreme. Otherwise it is back to what I said about modern gamers being " entitled " .
It is a F2P game nobody owes you a damn thing. Pay for it, work for it, or go play one of the other 10k games out there that cater to the " entitled generation "
Originally posted by MsGamerlady I've considered downloading this game a few times recently. Each time I decided against it. I feel something is very off but can't put my finger on it just yet. I feel as though people will get interested in the game then the publisher/devs etc will ruin it somehow ( cash grab possibly).
they are the company behind allods online, a 'f2p' mmo notorious for its heavy handed cash grab attempts (which ended up killing the game through bad reputation)
I agree with the article. In all my years of gaming I've never run into a game that says you've been capped. You can't play the way you've been playing until the cap resets. 0.o
I miss not being able to go back and check out some of the old zones. I find the leveling addictive but very constrained. To be viable you have to play the chapel mini game (gives you lots of health and prestige) or you will die a lot.
Like a lot of skill trees in other games you have to take a lot of the stuff you don't want to get to what you want.
I hate slow skill timers.
When you do unlock a class it's weak and missing main skills. You still have to use your main to put points into it until it's viable, unless you reserved a lot of skill points so you can fill it's tree right away.
Well it's still in beta. See how much is changed before launch.
It launched. soft launch maybe but no more character wipes.
