I just don't get some of you people you whine like fuck all the time about shit which is pointless....Either buy the game and play it or don't it's real simple really, like a lot of you! If I was making a game to make a profit then I would do as I please not what any community had to say and then you either buy my game or move on. BDO don't give a shit what you whine about they have set out what they intend to do.
These games companies cannot win either way because people always want something for nothing. I personally think it's smart move that BDO has done the opposite of what they did in the east. As for the quote Archage 2.0 just a cry from a pve cry baby. No one is making anyone buy this game, I'd like to see them charge a monthly subscription for the game too we would then see even more people cry.
The sooner game's companies revert to the subscription model the better imo, this way they get a continued influx of monthly coin to support their game and staff. Star Citizen has proved it can be done provided they have investment to build a decent game. Many people supporting that pay a monthly subscription in addition to pledges which they offered too. (They don't have to pay that but do). Now that's what I call commitment and the only people crying about that game are people who cannot afford to pay to play.

Discussing the merits of a game on a gaming forum, unacceptable!
All you are doing is being a hypocrite by 'whining' about the 'whiners'.
If a thread is pointless, why are you posting in it?
Which means, starts with only cosmetic stuff in the cash shop until people are hooked, then gradually apply the P2W.
I guess over the years MMO developers learned the most efficient ways to skin their customers alive and at this particular time in the MMO development history, for korean developers this is it: F2P or B2P games with both (optional) sub and a massive cash shop to micro-transaction their players to broke. Terrible system, because the cash shop not only dictates the game economy but the game development as a whole in a way that every type of player is forced to spend real money almost weekly on the game.
It's a recipe that goes something like: Make every item in game tradeable and the ingame currency not only a fluff and 'nice to have' as it used to be but really essential in order to play the game. Make the currency very hard to aquire in game and very easy to aquire in the cash shop. Then, develop your skinning tool (the cash shop) in a way that skins every group:
- PVP crowd is traditionally easiest group to skin alive because game companies know by now that the 'competitive PVP player' will spend as much as he has on any edge devs or RMT dealers are willing to sell him and these 'PVP-ers' have a lot of money to spend ( think student loans) so it's probably the most lucrative group for devs. This also explains the "Endgame is PVP" concept which is win-win for devs because there's no more funding needed for dungeons and raids development. The RMT issue is solved by selling the currency in the cash shop desquised as popular cosmetic items or essential utility items which are in high demand (by design) and easy sell for in game currency on the auction house.
- Second most lucrative group are the players that are in it to play dress up for the most part. Only two words need to be said: Cosmetic items.
- Crafters It probably took awhile to come up with an efficent way to crack this group because they are traditionaly hard workers and don't shy away from endless grinding, in fact many welcome it but hey, game developers are inovative people you know... so.. here is their genius solution: Tie the working stations to housing and make housing very expensive through taxing while at the same time make all but the high end crafted items worthless in order to force the crafters to get game currency from the cash shop in order to stay in business.. Also, put heavy restrictions on the ammount of items that can be crafted daily so that the hardcore crafters can't beat your system and get rich too fast, they must stay poor and willing to buy currency in order to chase the end-game gear AND THEN... when majority of the crafters reach their goal... introduce new more powerfull gear and the chase starts again... Voila!
- PVE crowd (dungeoneers and raiders) This is probably the least lucrative group for game companies because in order to skin this particular group alive you need frequent content development which costs a lot and the only income you get from this group (apart from a sub) is from big expansions which is what, 30 bucks every 6 months? On top of that, raid items need to be of highest quality so that is in direct conflict with the Crafter crowd which is more lucrative group now with this new system. As you can imagine,PVE crowd is getting more and more obsolete and that's why we don't see many if at all dungeons and raids in these new MMOs.
Welcome to the true 3rd generation MMOs...
It looks amazing compared to how old archeage looked when it was released in the U.S. So visually it is much better.

Just a note, but literally nothing is known about the EU/NA cash shop yet.
Seems a bit early to draw conclusions from non-existent 'facts', but hey, what do i know.
The cash shop in Archeage was also "toned down" for the western gamers. All clothing with stats had the stats removed, so you couldn't buy "power" directly that way in the Cash Shop, unlike the Korean version.
But there are other sly ways of selling power indirectly in the Cash Shop. Such as selling RNG loot boxes with a chance of getting some rare item, or selling "crafting enhancers" which raise the success chance of item upgrades, etc.
I'd be amazed if BDO doesn't follow the same path as Archeage, with a relatively harmless Cash Shop right after launch that becomes steadily worse over time...

Again, NOTHING is known about the EU/NA cash shop at this point. They're going to announce something next week.
Also, i'd be surprised if they followed in AA's footsteps. Unlike Trion, Daum EU can't afford a misstep. Their livelyhoods, the entire company, depends on this one game, this one product. If they make a mistake and people leave in droves, they lose their jobs and company. There is no fallback product to make money with beyond BDO.
That alone makes me fairly confident theyll keep it together.
I would also ask where he gets an idea that it is DaumEU or DaumUSA that makes fundamental decisions? Fundamental decisions are made in Korea by corporate HQ / main investors.
I'll be taking a wait and see approach with BDO. I'll give it a few months for all the feedback to come in. Hopefully Daum will have learnt lessons from the launch of AA and similar titles in the west and not follow the same path.
BDO going BTP has given me a small bit of confidence Daum understands nickle and diming players does not work that well in the west and will adjust the cash shop to reflect that. Hopefully I'm right but there has been too many cases where both western and eastern publishing houses never learn and go for the cash grab. Thats why IMO it's best to use the wait and see approach.
The best part is, we don't really know how P2W the game will be before the Media patch hits west, sometime late 2016 or early 2017 I guess.
That's when they introduce the +16-+20 enchants which are progressively more powerful each step up. The videos you see of someone 1v6:ing or whatever are all post Media patch, where someone has grinded/walleted to +18 or higher and is then dominating +15s.
Personally, I couldn't give a damn if the game is pay to win or grind to win, as I'm not going to do either (beyond reason). If the power curve will remain as it is in Korea (progressively increasing returns), I might quit the game if I can't stay even remotely competitive with my "casual" playtime of about 10-20 hours a week.
Just a note, but literally nothing is known about the EU/NA cash shop yet.

They aren't going to sell "crafting enhancers".
Yesterday they announced that they're taking out the equivalent of Archeage's labor pots too, and talking about implementing a system where you can save your in-game energy (labor) and convert it into potions to sell, kind of a reverse of Archeage's system.
They also said yesterday that they're going to have another announcement about the cash shop next week.

But they also said they are making it so energy is required for processing (unlike the Korean version), which will increase the demand for energy and decrease the fun of the game (making it similar to AA where labor was always a bottleneck).
That will also encourage behaviour that we saw in AA such as staying online afk day and night, the "alt" game (using alts as energy source), the multiple account game (and the implications of this since its b2p), and people will just sell other cash store items for in game currency to buy the energy potions anyway. All because some fuckwit decides to make energy more like labor points were in AA, when its not even like that in the Korean version.

If the new potions become a valuable commodity, that's good for anti-p2w since the only way to make them is through in-game means. People will be profitting through game-time.
It could promote problems with AFK farming- that's true. We'll have to see how they address that issue.
The new potions aren't official yet- only that they won't be selling labor pots in the shop.
This is a big deal because labor pots were the easiest way to convert cash into in-game currency in Archeage since they were valuable consumables.
If there are no valuable consumables it may be very difficult to completely p2w since outfits don't sell fast or frequently on the AH.
A couple of the biggest differences I've seen thus far is AA looked old when it was released here. BDO looks ready for the future with looks on par with ESO. Plus the combat system is also built for 2016 and beyond.

Really dude? From all the good arguments about game design and mechanics talked about itt, looks is all that matters to you? Apperance doesn't make a game just like apperance doesn't make a person. Not every hottie you see is a good mariage or mother material. Some of them you just want to bang couple of times until you dump them. That's the category I put the current korean MMOs in, they are the bimbos of the MMORPG scene. They are made as single player offline games. Cheap thrill for 20-100 hours before you move on to the next one. And that's not a MMORPG.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
The new potions aren't official yet- only that they won't be selling labor pots in the shop.
Having any form of labor pots increases the p2w since whales will effectively have infinite labor.
And if non-whales are selling their labor, they aern't crafting gear and will just fall farther behind the whale gear meta. For a few silver, they are basically financing their own destruction.
You can keep hoping that Daum won't add P2W items at the last minute, but it has been proven over and over again that it is impossible for the suits to resist adding in P2W and burning the game to the ground for a quick buck.

Having the players produce the pots is much better since they are selling to the whales, not the other way around.
It can profit people that want to do other things than compete in high-end pvp.
I'm not so sure the whales will have access to infinite anything. Without labor pots and upgrade tokens to sell, there won't be anything that will sell quick and frequently.
It may be difficult for them to instantly get the gear they want, and anything that impedes p2w is a good thing. It's also nice that because they will be competing with eachother to sell cosmetic items, the prices will be reasonable for people that want to buy them with in-game currency.
These changes all around bode very well for the game and there's going to be a new announcement this week. I expect it to be more anti-p2w.
As for your bait-and-switch conspiracy theory, I have no reason to believe that.
Describing Black Desert as Archeage 2.0 is pretty spot on,
They have the same kind of wishy washy half PVP, easy PVE, gear grind game, without any decent endgame content.
The endgame content is not even content, it is socketing and enchanting your gear by playing the market.
P2W creeping from around the corner.
The white knights defending it:
"but it's not pay2win, you can grind, buh uh uh...don't attack my game, waaa...look at the graphics and character creation, you can pay for lingery...only $15......."
...same exact crowd as in Arecheage. They look at the graphics, know didly squat about the game itself, and are ready to throw money at the game.
All those games aren't made to last very long.
These are the two most watched Black Desert videos, need I say more.
i dont wanna sound like a homer but the hive leader and bill both really dig this game and ive seen enough of their opinions to know they reliably pick fun games.
i try lotsa games, but their endorsements went a long way toward my preorder. so did the fact the devs came out and said not only will labor pots not be in the item mall (diff from AA), but they want players to be able to bottle their labor (also diff from AA)
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.
Currently Playing EVE, ESO
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.
lol, this game's community is going to be great...I can already tell....
You just can't help yourself from trolling BDO forums can you.....so sad.
Just a note: NA/EU pvp ruleset and the cashshop will be revealed on monday or tuesday. Not that it will stop the trollish nature of this site.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

How do you not get that selling your labor just makes the gear imbalances even worse?
The people buying it will be the whales or 24/7 grinders who will be spamming upgrade attempts and getting superior gear while you get a few silver.
It will also mean whales just need to buy 30 accounts and have them sit afk all day effectiely giving themselves infinite energy.
@Kiyoris is absolutely right about there being no actual endgame, its just logging in and spending you energy for the day crafting to get cash to take a go at the upgrade casino.
Like ArcheAge, GvG or general world PvP is utterly pointless since nothing is really gained or lost. You kill a guy, he respawns 15 feet away - rinse and repeat until you get bored and leave. Maybe sieges will be better, but its once a week and zerg dominated.

Whales can't buy them with the new announcement that you can't convert cash to in game currency.
Also labor regenerates really fast in the game- I haven't yet heard of someone having a problem with it.
All of your posts are just doomsaying about the apocolypse.
Biggest MMORPG release in years and people are complaining. WTF. This entire thread is speculation. I'm an average ArcheAge player and the game is still really fun, people who put more time into the game have better characters, bottom line. This whole "buy to win" thing is really overblown.

Kiyoris you just love to bash this game, all you do is troll this game on almost every forum post,
you even started a P2W thread about this game that was totaly untrue for the NA/EU version of the game
and as for end game i would much rather have end game gear that i can work at at my own pace and not be locked behind some stupid raid that i have to work my life around,
and the youtube videos are the most watched as the world is full of porn lovers simple.
you are like a bitter ex-girlfriend, get a new love in your life and move on.

Ok Black Desert: Cash shop: Check, RNG: Check, PVP: Check, Limited Energy? Yep, check! Do I need to continue? Arch age is fun as long as you don't mind limited crafting time. Everything about it is cash mall orientated or live with inferior gear. What a joke. No game I play will limit HOW much time I craft. that alone is BS. Especially when they sell time potions in the cash shop. People who have the cash to buy several accounts, fill them with characters and buy those characters boxes, potions and other things, how is that NOT P2W? You enjoy it fine but at least admit you pull out your CC for stuff you want. And will do it again for BD.

...same exact crowd as in Arecheage. They look at the graphics, know didly squat about the game itself, and are ready to throw money at the game.
All those games aren't made to last very long.
These are the two most watched Black Desert videos, need I say more.
i try lotsa games, but their endorsements went a long way toward my preorder. so did the fact the devs came out and said not only will labor pots not be in the item mall (diff from AA), but they want players to be able to bottle their labor (also diff from AA)
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.

Also labor regenerates really fast in the game- I haven't yet heard of someone having a problem with it.
All of your posts are just doomsaying about the apocolypse.
you even started a P2W thread about this game that was totaly untrue for the NA/EU version of the game
and as for end game i would much rather have end game gear that i can work at at my own pace and not be locked behind some stupid raid that i have to work my life around,
