I would have enjoyed the beta more if they fix the damn popup graphic glitch and anti aliasing.
  • tom_goretom_gore Member UncommonPosts: 2,001
I preordered the 50 €/$ package after playing the beta. I don't know if this is "the MMO I've been dreaming about". Pretty sure it ain't. But I don't see any reason I wouldn't get fun out of it for my money's worth. There's just so much to do, the world is SO beautiful and the combat is fun.

Oh and those wondering if this will do well in the west - this is probably the most "western style" MMO coming out of Korea ever. The landscapes and cities are like medieval Europe, the monsters are mostly from western mythology / RPGs, and the player characters look mostly western, too. Some NPCs, especially the small girly ones with large ears are very much a reminder from good ol' Asia, as is the black spirit itself, but other than that I didn't get the usual "wtf" reaction from the monsters and NPCs I get from most Korean MMOs.

Game mechanics are quite Korean, though, but the environment definitely isn't. I don't see any reason this wouldn't do ok in the west, provided Daum doesn't fuck up with the cash shop.

If I was looking for a new MMORPG right now I'd likely give this one a go, but for now I'm on the sidelines.

Maybe after it goes full F2P or in the bargin bin I'll take a peek.

I'll play it, mainly because I usually play all MMO's that come out. I try my best not to give too much of a biased opinion on things. However, after playing the beta and hearing about endgame and the grind to get there; I feel as though this game may be fun for me for about 3 to 4 months. After that I may move on. In terms of new games; the Division and a few other single player games have been appealing to me more.

I've been very pleasantly surprised by the gameplay in this game, for the first time in years I see a game that provides some hope for the MMORPG genre. This is a game where you will be out in the world doing things all the time unlike most modern MMORPGs where you sit in town and queue for instances. It has complex and interesting crafting systems that will take a long time to master. I hear people saying it doesn't have endgame but to me this game has more endgame than any MMORPG I've tried in the last 10 years, the endgame is being out in the world doing things.

Unfortunately I can not accept what's on sale in the cash shop since it breaks a very important rule for a enjoyable MMORPG: Who you are in game is decided by your actions in game. I would be all over this game if it was monetized in a different way where advantages couldn't be bought with IRL cash.
not 100% my opinion but i would say... 90% of it is the same as mine.

especially the appearance issue is a no-go. why do i have to pay with RL cash to change the starting appearance of my character?

there are just a few minor things i don't like on the game but are not really worth to mention it :)
Sorry I'm a bit confused by what you guys say is a problem for you, can you elaborate please, not trying to argue or judge, just asking.

Wont pay to play a game with such limitiations as the bag sizes ect that need real money to extend, plus there are some pay to win elements that are in the cash shop i am not happy about. Just not worth forking out money for a game that is free to play in korea, and has the limitations of the free to play model,

Im sure some people will love it and thats great its just not for me

I have not seen mutch from the game yet but im still curious.
Me fears i wont get over the 30.-€ pay to play wall.
When i pay for a game, it wants my time to play it.

The nature with this kind of games is, you need to play em regulary to get something out of them.
There is always only one mmorpg that can be played halfwhat serious ...

The cash shop sells stuff like outfits with stat bonuses, resurrection on the spot when you die, boats, wagons, lootpets with various bonuses, mount equipment to make them faster, respecc of skills, furniture for your house that gives buffs, horse flute so you can call on mount from far away, inventory space + weight, warehouse space etc.

I will not play games where the cash shop sells power/advantages like this. I will gladly pay to play a good game like this but only for access to the game. I heard from several sources before this CBT that the devs had said they would only have a cosmetic cash shop in EU/NA, that I wouldn't have a problem with.

You pay 30 euro to buy the game but while you are playing it you get the feeling of a f2p player (even though you gave them real money already).
Inventory is extremely small and almost everything you wanna do it leads to paywalls. Cash shop is really bad and expensive. It does not have any p2w items (or at least I did not see any) but all items are overprised and you start wondering "how much more money I shall spend to start saying ok now I can start enjoying the game..."
Like I said you get the feeling you have bought a "trial" of the game with the 30 euro because you can't enjoy the game and that's keeping me from decide whether to play it or not.
On the other hand game yes it looks great and I have nothing bad to say apart from the how greedy the company looks.

    Long story short:

    - Got a beta key and had zero expectations of the game.
    - After turning off lanterns and graphic filters, loved the graphics.
    - Had a blast for 10 hours, decided to stop playing and pre-ordering.

    I'm in.

I couldn't get past the beginning of the game. It was nothing but talking to NPCs, cut scenes, following arrows and fighting super easy mobs over and over.  I don't even know how many times I had to kill some mobs and then summon that stupid spirit. There may be other parts of the game that are engaging, but I'll never know.

I will likely play.  I still am lost with the UI, the overall meaning of the game, finding things on the map, the market, mounts, housing, the different forms of exp, selecting skills and not being able to change it easily, nodes and workers and on and on.  Watching guides is making things a bit better, but still overall confused.  I think if I can find a good guild the game will be a lot of fun...after figuring everything out.

I also don't think the ranger class will be for me, clunktastic.  I will switch to something a bit faster (less locked down) in combat.

Won't be playing.  No surprise there when I'm a fairly vocal opponent of action combat.  Also not a big fan of Asian game design philosophy.

I'm loving this game, particularly the combat. Even if the end-game content is lacking, and some of the ideas need to be fleshed out, there's plenty to do in the game. Definitely can't see myself getting bored of this too quickly.

Won't play as long as they try to sell f2p game

I think the game has the right idea behind it, but some of the features just feel contradictory. It's like they are trying to create a complex sandbox but at the same time they keep restricting things so much it voids any potential player interaction.

For example, the combat system is well fleshed out but at the same time there isn't any need for special moves when the 1-50 content is 100% braindead and soloable. There's no real group content which is a shame. Same thing for OWPVP, the karma system restricts you too much to the point it's not worth it unless you're a hardcore griefer of some sort.

They created so many activities and crafting goods, but at the same time you can't trade anything with players and the auction house has enforced prices, so in the end it's basically a single player game economy.

To make it worse, most sandbox activities such as taming, breeding, trading, fishing are mostly about interacting with NPCs rather than players... it just feels weird to see so much effort being put to waste.

To me it looks like this game is trying to appeal to everyone, and doing quite a bad job at that too. I'm going to wait and see, still sitting on the fence wether I'll pay for it. It's a shame because the graphics and seamless world are so beautifully done with no instances or loading screens or invisible walls, which is a rare sight thesedays.

I think this game is overal a breath of fresh air to the genre. It has a ton of horizonal progression which is great (even if I think a lot of it can be improved still). However they took a step forward which can naturally take some time to perfect. Will be definetly following it.

Biggest advantage in cash shop: Extra inventory space, extra character slots....game breakers right there eh? Or maybe the costumes and underwear that have no bonus aside from look.
Makes me wonder if you even looked at cash shop at all.

And you don't have to pay anything to change your appearance of you character, unless you are one of the laziest people on the planet. Everything is customizable from the start. Only thing they sell is extra default faces...and really gotta be lazy if you can't adjust your characters face a wee bit with sliders....

Thumbs up. Brought Conquered pack. Not been looking forward to a games launch as much since Rift.

I love that it's complex and so much in it. I love that it's immersive. I love that it doesn't hold your hand. I love that the graphics are superb. I love that crafting, trading etc. have real depth and real rewards. I love that housing is more than just a house. I love that it's B2P.

    I just love it :). Can't wait.
