Ah yes, here come the insults now. Don't like facts presented to you, call them "simplistic". Doesn't make them any less facts, though, backed up by undeniable numbers. Video games, including MMORPGs, are very cheap entertainment medias.
And you make it sound like MMORPGs are only about grinding mobs, that's the second time you use that line... and we both know that's definitely not true.
So you are not commenting on the "fact" that you spread misinformation about the "fact" that costumes are not craftable at all? Don't get me wrong i really like the game but making up "facts" to prove your point is not really a good way to promote the game.

I pay CCP about $800 a year to play the game the way I want to, a small amount compared to other hobbies such as golf (my fathers favorite), season's tickets to pro sports (couple of my brothers in law do this) etc etc
A single ticket for a movie nowadays costs over $10 for 3 hours of entertainment.
I have over 300 original blu-ray discs (yeah, I'm one of those who buy the movies they like), each costs approx. $15 on average (can range from $5 bargain box stuff to $30+ for collector steelbox 3D movies).
In comparison, the time played vs price paid ratio of any MMORPG I've every played, be it P2P, B2P or F2P is so much higher it's not even funny. For instance, I bought the $100 package of BDO (which includes 2500 pearls for the shop), and I already got over 30 hours of entertainment from it, and I'm far from done with it.
But some people apparently have problems paying for their games (or other entertainment sources) nowadays, the self entitlement generation wants everything for free, even the cheapest forms of entertainment.
I see this argument a lot. Movies and MMOs are not really comparable. You will spend 3 hours grinding in an MMO and it's hardly the same experience as watching a movie.
Both are leisure activities you pay for. And the purpose of both is to have fun during the time you paid for. That's perfectly comparable if you are talking about entertainment products.
And my argument in favor of the payment model is that all items in the shop are non-essential to play the game, so you can basically pay $30 and play the game forever. If that's too expensive for you, you may want to find another hobby than video games, because most are more expensive than that.
That's a really simplistic viewpoint. Watching a movie with a plot and climax is much different than grinding on mobs for 2 hours. I mean, compared to a getting a prostitute, it's just a fantastic deal! No, not the same experience.
What you should be comparing the price to is other MMOs. It's clearly priced as more expensive than others if you want the full experience. Is it worth that price? To some it is, but not to me, especially not with p2w right around the corner.
One monthly sub to EVE costs $180 per year. (I pay anually so its $120)
Seems as if that same amount spent here would get me quite a bit, and I probably wouldn't benefit from having multiple accounts (6 in EVE) so it probably would be a real savings for me.
Heck, according to others we've had P2W in EVE for years now, yet despite it and the sub fees, it provides me with the entertainment experience I've found no where else so I gladly pay for it. (OK, maybe gladly is too strong of a word)
Again I maintain if a game entertains you, expect to pay for it. MMO devs used to be able to get a box fee and $15.00 a month from every person who played their game.
With the passing of the subscription model expect them to aggressively pursue alternates to maintain or even exceed that income, either by fleecing whales or nickel diming everyone else by putting desireable content behind a pay wall.
Have to learn to pay your own way folks, guess they don't teach that lesson to people anymore.

Ehm sure i posted that as well a page back in my explanation about those and it's still just clothing and not costumes like you falsely stated before. It would be suicidal to wear it in combat because it replaces your Armor, so the only use is for the profession bonus or roleplaying if you are in to that for everyone else it's completely useless.
Except that there are also armor sets in those crafted items which give you an unique look, and are definitely for use in combat since they are the best armor sets of the game.
But whatever, time to expand my ignore list. Sick of arguing with people who have decided this game sucks no matter what anyway, it's just a waste of my time.
Where are those? Please show them to me i'm playing the game for over a year now and i never saw them? That is a flat-out lie my friend ! Yes you can craft Armor but it doesn't have a unique look or is better then the dropped gear, and the best Armor in the game will be the dropped Boss armor for a while (we don't have them yet) which has a unique look (but is a bit ugly) You never played the game yourself it seems or you would know that this is not true at all. You can ignore me but you can't ignore reality i like the game myself but i don't make up shit to make the game look better then it really is.
They most certainly are selling RMT currency there are websites dedicated to it.How exactly it is done idc because i never plan on cheating but buying massive amounts of currency Silver means more stones bought off marketplace.More stones means upgrades,it takes around 200+ to get one weapon to 15.You can trade gear to other characters i n same family. It is selling at around 10 million for $65-$70.
I have not tried to figure it out but i assume the exploit is going to be players want to PK they send gear to other character then go around killing, then if karma gets too high just delete ,rinse repeat. All the while they still have their main character crystal clean.Unless Daum has figured on this but i doubt it.
Ok i think i figured it out, they are using HP potions to exchange silver.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

That is not possible you can't get gear from Pking. What they do is trading thousands of Potions (you can still trade potions and lower lvl consumables but nothing else) but cause those are very expensive to buy and resell for almost nothing the prices for silver from those sellers are hilarious 30 € for a few K silver you can make while afk fishing for 10 minutes no one will ever buy this.
There was a time you could not touch a game without paying a subscription of 15 every month. What a bunch of spoilt rotters that keep whining about costumes. Seriously this game has a lot to offer if you don't like their cash shop then stop playing it.
Whining and droning on about the costumes while you have full access to the game after you buy it without having to fork out monthly has been taken for granted without considering how much income that takes away monthly. No the way you complain is like a small kid in the toy store throwing a fit without considering if their parents can afford to buy what they want.
Comparing it to GW2 is also quite unfair that game did not have to spend anything on localization or licensing or whatever expenses Daum had to pay to bring it across to Europe and North America. If this is the absolute worst thing that you can find to complain about the game then I would consider the game an amazing success.
Oh before you accuse me of white knighting the game I'm not playing it because of the PvP.

And you make it sound like MMORPGs are only about grinding mobs, that's the second time you use that line... and we both know that's definitely not true.
It's not an insult. It is really a simplistic argument. Obviously various forms of entertainment have different values and prices associated with them.
You should be comparing the price to other MMOs, and when you do, it comes out as more expensive as a B2P with a f2p cash shop.
But, BDO doesn't have a f2p cash shop and it has less "p2w" than most mmos, even compared to games like WoW or ESO (which are largely seen as not "p2w"). The price of the base game itself is also cheap compared to other b2p games and it doesn't sell expansions (no plans as far as I know).
Therefore, compared to other mmos it is fairly priced, perhaps even inexpensive compared to say ESO or WoW.
When EA charged for the UI in SWTOR people were very upset and angry about it and I can totally understand it but complaining about costumes is really a new low.
When EA charged for the UI in SWTOR people were very upset and angry about it and I can totally understand it but complaining about costumes is really a new low.
Why is it low to be frustrated about the pricing of costumes, when there is little to no visual gear progression in the game? You will, literally, look almost the same at all times, without purchasing something from the cash shop. Sure, you can just not do it. Sure, some don't care how they visually look. But a lot of people do. So why is such a practice suddenly okay?
Again, the complaint is NOT that costumes are being sold. The complaint is that the game offers very little gear progression in the form of visuals.
Then how else can they force you to buy from the cash shop if little to no change to the costumes is not done. This is probably their solution. Ham fisted probably but this is their approach.
What is the point of the cash shop if no one wants to buy from it. We all know how players free load if they can .We see it here on these very boards that guy Kopo and Narius they keep talking about never spending any money on the games they play.
They did it poorly so their people that came up with this method were not very creative in trying to make people buy costumes. Perhaps they should do what Blade and Soul does and make it more P2W then you can actually have something substantial to complain about.
So for every month after you buy the game how does Daum pay their employees ?
They obviously need people to spend on costumes . Would you really have preferred the game to be F2P with the model they used in Korea. Tell us frankly how great the F2P version is.
I understand from an earlier thread they had costumes in the game in Korea then in that case would you prefer the F2P version instead ?
Yes. But BDO EU/NA is not free. There is an entrance fee.
Yes, you pay entrance and want FREE costumes...
No, I don't want free costumes. I want there to be MORE variance in how acquired gear looks. Seriously, this isn't that hard to grasp. Every other MMO manages this. Guild Wars 2, love it or hate it, being an excellent example on there being a good variety in how acquired gear looks, while still offering exclusive costumes in their cash shop. This is good. This is a fair practice.
What BDO does is limit how acquired gear looks, while only offering expensive alternatives via the cash shop. The opposite of what Guild Wars 2 does.
Again, I repeat, I don't want cash shop costumes for free. I want more visual variety in ACQUIRED GEAR that I earned, during playtime. If I want costumes from the shop, I will buy them.
I'm not sure why you're saying that people are spending 50 bucks on average on the cash shop alone is a good thing.
It sets a bad precedent and if it is as successful as you say, future MMOs will also greatly encourage you to spend 50 bucks on top of a box price in the cash shop when you start.
It's akin to a single player game with day 1 DLC. Pretty shitty imo.
And it's hard to tell if it was a good move or not. It's tough to calculate how much money they lost from people unwilling to buy into their pricing model (like me).
So true I always said not developers make MMO industry shit but mediocre people .... BDO cash shop is an example to that that fan boys encouraged quality drop of mmo...and their willingness to eat what ever shit dev. feed to them.
So for every month after you buy the game how does Daum pay their employees ?

Guild Wars 2 model is the same, buy to play. They too sell costumes, but they don't have as severe limits on how you can customize your characters visual appearance with gear. They seem to be doing quite fine.
You are asking for free costumes because you are asking for more variety which they provide for in the cash shop. Let's face it you do not want the F2P version with its P2W elements but refuse to support the game in its B2P version by buying costumes. Instead you want to create an issue here with your selfish demands.
Did GW2 have localization and other costs that Daum has? Why should any company follow GW2 because you like it. Daum has their model and they want to make money.
It is such a ludicrous suggestion that people make that benefits them. Of course you want the GW2 model because then you will not have to spend any money. It just boils down to one plain thing. None of you are willing to support this game. That is what this complaint is all about. You want to play the game with as little investment as possible in spite of saying that you like the game none of you are willing to spend some money to reward the game developers.

You're not grasping the issue at all.
The amusing thing is... If the game actually had more variety in the visual appearance of gear, I personally, would be a lot more interested as well, in actually buying from their damn shop. But when it's so obvious, as in this case, what they want you to do... Hell no. Never happening. OF COURSE I won't support practice like this.
Lastly... I am NOT asking for free costumes. I am asking for more GEAR. Gear that you can acquire while you play. Loot drops, and so on. But it's not really there, is it? Why is that okay? Why is it okay when pretty much all other MMOs manage this? How is BDO special in this regard, to make this okay? You call me selfish, but all I want is more variety in how gear looks. Maybe that would actually raise consumer good will as well, and make them WANT to spend, and not feel they have to.
They changed the model from F2P to B2P. Perhaps they might introduce more changes to gear in the future. Or are too impatient to wait for the changes. No whining about it is so much more fun then simply giving Daum some time to decide about the costumes and gear.
I look at the demands players are making and I am not at all surprised as the F2P and P2W aspects of games keep escalating and the investment in MMORPGs continue to diminish. The lot of selfish, stingy, miserly players that have been spoilt by F2P deserve the future they clamoured for.
How I long for the days of the subscription to come back.
