    Bioware makes a studio in Austin, TX - hires two top tier guys that used to be involved at the top level of SWG (Rich Vogel was Executive Producer, and Gordon Walton was an Executive Producer and Studio Manager at SOE).

    Plus I get beat with the big bad banstick at the SOE SWG forum for posting a link to some Bioware job listings.

     

    Certainly makes for good rumour fodder if nothing else, but damn there are some striking coincidences afoot. image

     will the swg made by bioware cost anything? because i dont wanna have to buy it again... already paying 30$ a month

    sweet, lol. Um... lemee see if i read this right. SOE has been pulled the plug on. New SWG woll be made. Wont cost anything. If i am on a pre cu meger server, i cant get in any trouble. And there is no eta on this correct?

     u describe soon as in the next 1-5 months right? i cant wait.... lol. I still dont understand if the server

    mergers are legal. I geuss they r since soe does not own it anymore right?

    Bioware is not about to take over SWG, cause they already press released that they are working on their own mmorpg

    but it's for sure that Starwars Galaxies won't survive 2006

    no mather how many rumors you already read, I can guarantee that it will be shutdown during the next few months...

    poor subscriptioners, who got no idea whats coming their way and keep on wasting ingame-time

    shame on SOE, let's hope this company gets the justice they deserve one day.

    BioWare's press release states that they'll be working on "a" mmo not "their own" MMO.

    Fact is, SOE was not alone in making the decision to throw out the baby instead of the bathwater when SOE and LA "held hands and went forward together". LA was right there with them.


    Im afraid you are correct.  Its hard to see anyone doing well with it, unless they had freedom to develop it "their" way, and of course with LA and Star Wars thats never going to happen.   It must be a bit of a nightmare trying to develop a game when you have to run it through two companies channels.  

    Regardless, it is still a ray of hope in an otherwise bleak situation.

Linear "kill x stuff for y xp" quests storyline, with carefully and controlled designated pvp areas, no persistent content apart from your bank (might be something else, don't know enough about WoW), but seems like too many are going for that concept.My opinion always was, that original SWG was a great MMO, set against the SW setting. Sadly, it got killed, without ever even attempting to fix it. That was the downfall, and unfortunately a great precedent for everyone making mmos, who'll avoid anything and everything it offered, for wrong reasons.The post makes sense, if it's true we'll see soon enough.

    Thats why it would be great if BioWare was doing this game over, everyone knows about BioWares history with LA about KOTOR, and BioWare made that game work. There is no way that BioWare would touch this game unless LA made some concessions to BioWare, maybe LA learned something from KOTOR 2 and SWG.
