To this day the engine for elder scrolls and fallout is a modified Gamebryo engine with all it's faults and benefits. But I can see them switching engine eventually since the games have been limited by the legacy code in the current engine.
I wonder if they'll use the engine that ESO does for their next game. And with engines such as UNIGINE out there it seems they have some much better choices than Gamebryo.
I doubt it. ESO is developed by Zenimax. The engine is also not ideal for single player games. The hero engine has great tools for adding new content at a quick rate, but graphics wise it's on par with Gamebryo. Any new engine will have good support for physics based rendering and support DX12 or Vulkan.
