Huh, eyes officially opened. If it took 4 years to create one system, then it will obviously not be done for 400 years. That's scary stuff!
They started with the first System around 2014, 2 years ago but this system has little content so it's not even a full system as described in the map and lore. It's pretty hard to make estimates as you did.
With the recent addition of procedural planets the production plan must have changed once more since that was not planned initially. Changes to procedures, art pipeline and tools is very disrupting to the art and development process, it usually sets it back 1-2 years. Assets need to be re-done, like we seen multiple times with ships and development tools need to be changed and re-written to accommodate the new development process and art pipeline.
If i really had to make an estimate i would say we are looking at 5-6 years for the 100 mostly hand crafted systems with procedural planets and celestial objects.
Not so scary and around 10 years development time since the Kickstarter seems about right for a project of this size.
*eats popcorn and waits for a certain gerbil to show up on this thread* xD

lulz at the clearly accurate representation of the development of the game. Yes, buyers, if you don't want to wait for a game don't buy into this. I am a fan of CIG and SC and I backup sometime around the end of kickstarter. I just read the lore and updates and fiddle with what is available and I go play other games and have fun knowing that eventually there will be a very enjoyable product in the end.
The game will get completed. I can't argue it has taken longer and it will more than likely take longer than most people have patience for, but the end result even if we are not looking at a release date this year Star Citizen will be a very enjoyable game.
This shouldn't be attached to SC. It should be pinned to the top of the forum for everyone considering laying down green for ANY game, whether it's kickstarter or not. Buyer should always do some research before laying down the green.

I can't help but think, but that in the years to come, SC is going to be held up as a 'cautionary tale'. But yes, when it comes to kickstarters etc. people absolutely should do their homework, and even then, keep in mind that the end result, might be nothing at all.
The irony is that I got a warning although I am actually on the OP's side.
I was told that over 50% of the reported posts on this entire site come from the Star Citizen forum. The majority of those being against people who oppose the game or have some issue with its management. Makes you wonder doesn't it???
"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game." - SEANMCAD

Heh I got in trouble for making a funny as hell Erillion video that he liked and everyone else loved. People do tend to get way over offended over this game for sure.
