We know that, so stop pretending you do.  Unless you have proof otherwise, or information otherwise, don't get mad when the best "proof" we have to YOUR credit, still falls insanely short of 500 Million.

no it doesnt work that way and you know it.

    YOU are making an assertion
    I am asking for evidence
I do not provide evidence to a claim I am not even making
You also don't believe the evidence that was posted.  ...
no that is also not correct.

I believe the evidence is NOT RELEVANT.

    1. claims of facts should be backed up with facts, not 'thoughts' 'doubts' and 'feelings'
    2. posted facts should relate to the subject in question, HTC profits DO NOT RELATE

now, my turn to ask an assholish black and white question.

What is my position? if you are going to insit on 'evidence' for my position you best know what it is, so what is my position?

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

I have to agree with OP.  One game that was hyped for a month doesn't reflect AR as a whole.  Meanwhile, VR was picked up by major corporations and movie directors.

I can point to an AR game that loads of people wanted to play and made money, a crap load. Cant say that for VR. VR is still in the maybe it will make it camp. IMO AR will beat out VR. It will be the winner.
That's because of an unfair advantage though.  VR headsets aren't widely distributed and are more costly.  AR requires cellphones, which almost everyone has already.

its also to be completely frank not AR in the first place.
Pokemon Go is the same tech as the Yelp App that allows you to walk around with the camera and navigate. That has been around for years.

also the trouble i have with the article specifically is that its comparing 'actuals' to 'projections'

even the section headlines within the article show that. For VR lets look at actuals, for AR lets look at projections.

you posted the parts of the article that you feel is most relevant. Those quotes bleeding with words like 'rumors' 'feels' 'thinks' 'doubts'. I feel pretty confident without reading the article that it does not contain informatoin that is more in line with what I would expect because if it did you wuld post it, you didnt,.

and you need to understand the difference between sells of a product and the profits of an ENTIRE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HTC being in the red or not is related to their fucking phones.
This is why no one can have an actual discussion with you and why people call your posts trolls because you refuse to look at the facts when they're laid out before you.
the links provided by him are not related to nor come remotely close to being evidence to support his claim for specific reasons I have multiple times now explained in detail.

you cant just go around posting random unrleated links and expect me to accept that as evidence

he would be MUCH better served making his statements as 'it appears' and then illustrate why he thinks that rather that the approach he takes

    so to recap

    1. the first link is related to the health of a company that primarly sells smart phones and was having trouble before it even had VR.
    2. his posted statements all contain non-factual information but rather literally in the quote itself 'rumors'
    3. the sells of HTC is not THE ENTIRE VR MARKET

Wrong.  All VR requires is a cell phone too.  Cardboard headsets are pretty inexpensive and many are free.  If you recall they even put them on mcdonalds boxes lol.

So quotes from the CEO of a company are now considered "rumors"  Okay.. cool deal.

It is a race? I thought it were two very different technologies , each with their own fantastic uses. I never understand these silly ' my AR is bigger then your VR ' battles. They are not even in the same competition.

Yes that is a big part of it. Its why PC gaming beats console gaming. People buy more PCs than consoles. So buying a game for your PC is no more of a cost to most people then the price of the game. Same for AR, almost everyone owns a smartphone. Devlopers see this and see more people, so more chances of making money over the few millions VR users. I also think there's more applications for AR and at a lower cost.

Kinda not wrong. Cardboard really only lets you get an idea of how VR works. You want to go in depth into Smartphone VR, you are dropping between 80-300 bucks to get an good headset. AR just needs the phone and no other costs. Not even the carboard.

Technically the cardboard sets are just to hold it on your head.. the mcdonalds ones didn't take out all of the light anyways.  When I create 360 content and show it to people.. they utilize their phones as if they're using a headset.. just moving it around as they look.  The ability to do it without a piece of cardboard is there.  There aren't even restrictions to doing it when you use apps for google cardboard.

there are many VR games that don't use controllers though.  At least mobile ones.  Quite a few of them rely on your movement.  But I'm just saying, if we're all going to dumb down what one thing is (not saying you were doing this just stating "we" as in..  someone else.. that isn't you), we should dumb it down for everything I guess.

    I still find that funny

I guess Facebooks check in feature is an AR feature as well. its augmenting reality!
news just in! more people are using AR then VR because of Facebooks check in app

It's about as funny as calling 360 degree panoramic view through a headset "Virtual Reality".
    if you say so bro.

but yeah...no shocker here, yes its true, more people use Facebook Check In feature then VR.

lets write an article about it!

Amazing how you can produce an artificial sense of movement with a rumble seat.

It's someone trying to come up with a solution for using VR with complex aircraft in simulation.

The Article really should have read '2016 was supposed to be all about VR, but Miltary Contracts were really the star' because a Facebook app with a check in feature is about as related to the sales of VR as Military Contracts are

I don't know about you all, but I bought a GearVR for my Galaxy and I'm sick for 3 days every time I try to play games... and I'm decades in on 3D PC gaming, so it's not like motion sickness 'should' be a problem.  Anyone else getting sick?  I'm getting to the point now where I feel ill thinking about putting it on to play...

I am not. I think 100% of the VR population that are getting sick all just happen to also be posting on MMORPG. that is my view

I think that seans point is funny because he's trying to trivialize what AR is...  that is a geocaching whatever kind of kid game, but in the end the results are the same.  It still was the breakout star over anything VR has produced in its years of production.  YEARS.  The Rift DKs have been out for YEARS and a popular game with minimal AR features (enough to be called AR) beat them and every piece of software on it.
