I have a PS4, but, not getting the game, from what i've seen so far the game itself looks good, but it has the same problem that The Crew and Watchdogs had, the main character that you play, if you don't like them, then the game is pretty much ruined, and that is the problem with Horizon zero dawn, the character you are limited to playing, i detest.
What's There not to like about Aloh? She is likeable and as good a companion as Any other games character. Seems like you should Get to know her
I'm a PC Gamer by Heart. And yes, i admit that it bugged me all the time that we did not got Games like Red Dead Redemption and Horizon Zero Dawn.
So i went out, lured by that Game, and got myself a PS4 Slim 1T as Bundle.
And i'm having a Blast, even that i have to learn how to use a Controller which i hated for such a long time now. Right now it feels as it was a good investment. Can't wait to play more.
Still i wish that Dev's would brings these kind of Games as well to the PC. There is still hope.
Never thought i would be a "Consolero" at some point. Dam you Sony, dam you.....
I thought CrossPlay was where a multiplayer game supports server clients from both Win10 and XB1. Xbox Play Anywhere is where you can buy the game once and play it on Win10 or XB1. A lot of new titles support it but not the old ones and the only 360 titles are ports. The increasing 360 compatibility in the XB1 is a big plus.
There certainly are still reasons to get an XB1. It's the most flexible home entertainment console. It can replace/combine set top boxes and Blu-Ray players. It integrates with your Win10 homegroup and family members.
....
The exclusives annoy me, but one thing I can agree with the console fans is that my need or even desire for a gaming PC is diminishing rapidly. The XB1 and the PS4 are both attractive consoles at this point.
If I want a Windows 10 PC, I'd make one and install Windows 10 on it. I'd not buy some cheap-ass console that runs Windows 10 with inferior hardware. With that, the crossplay PC<>XB1 is also something to keep an eye on. With the PC being FAR MORE SUPERIOR than the XB1, the PC gamer will win from a XB1 gamer (which is exactly why Bungie is not allowing crossplay for Destiny).
Your reasoning behind exclusives is a HUGE LOL. XBOX also has a lot of exclusive titles (which are not crossplay for PC so no longer 'exclusive'). But now that 'the greatest game ever' is an exclusive on PS4 it's a bother? I think exclusives are a MUST for consoles to get new buyers interested for the console and to keep series/IPs bound to the console.

Kind of amusing because you just described the PS4 as a cheap console with inferior hardware. And it is actually inferior to the Xbox at this point in time as it does not have a HD Blueray drive like the Xbox. If took the time to notice most internet connections these days do not support 4k streaming. Hence if you really want to watch 4k you need such a drive.
Making any new game purchase playable on both the Xbox was a very good one. If you have not noticed, the Xbox out sold the PS4 duing the past holiday season by a significant margin.
As bad as Microsoft is at times, the people in the console division at Sony are worse.

You keep saying "If you have not noticed, the Xbox out sold the PS4 duing the past holiday season by a significant margin." as if there was any truth to this. More PS4s where sold in the US than the XBox One, let alone the 4-1 sales in Europe. The XBox One lost the war big time. Will Project Scorpio save MS? Time will tell and I hope so as more competition is a good thing.
Have both and I have to say my PS4 is a rather large , expensive coaster. I prefer Xbox Ones exclusives albeit a lot less. Exclusives mean nothing if there just average, which I find PS4 exclusive are just that.

Drink too much koolaid lately? Did you read what I wrote. I said the Xbox outsold the PS4 during the Xmas season. It is ok to be a PS4 bigot, but I feel sorry for people who hide their head in the sand.
I don't think Xbox lost the war at all. It is still being waged. Console life cycles are long and storied. Not to mention that what a console earns in net profit is more important than just number of consoles shipped and sold. The ROI on the Xbox One is more than the PS4 as they are cheaper to make. Yes the PS4 has outsold the One by a large margin but Microsoft did not fail. They are just playing catch up. I own all the consoles (even the Switch) and love them all. They all have their charm.
Uhm... If I remember correctly, MS stated that (much like Windows 10), the XB1 is the last in it's line with only internal and/or component upgrades. This fact alone makes XB1 inferior to PlayStation. Not because the current XB1 console is less powerful than the PS4 (either Slim or Pro), but because MS has said that they'd no longer develop the software/OS of the console, but instead keep forking out money for hardware upgrades. Hardware upgrades that MUST stay compatible with the 1st version of the XB1 I must add.
Where SONY on the other side has only released a mid-term more powerful machine of it's current branch, they never stated that PS4 would be the last in it's line. Instead, I expect that SONY will make a new PS(5 most likely) that will keep up with the then current hardware and software standards. Okay, it'll most likely not be downward compatible with the PS4 or earlier versions, but who cares? I still own my PS2 and PS3, along with a PSP, Vita and PSTV as well...

...all consoles are cheap compared to PCs (even my almost 10-year old PC)! And yes, PS4 is a cheap console, even compared to my PC, but at least it's not running a Windows compatible OS, or allowing crossplay with the PC. This makes the PS4 different from the XB1 because I CAN NOT play my games on the PC and thus do not have to bother with aimbots & cheaters that are using crossplay on the PC.
Your point on HD Bluray is a valid one though. I still don't get why SONY went cheap on that part and did not include one in the Pro. With the Pro being able to display 4K, the drive should be included. Even when I don't own a 4K TV/monitor at all (yet). Then again, I wonder if 4K Bluray will become a real thing in the coming 5-10 years. Bluray itself has been around for about 5 years as well, and still hasn't really taken off like DVD did 5 years after it's release. Also on streaming 4K and internet connections not being able to. Not sure where you live, but here in (Western) Europe that's no problem. You need a minimum of 15-20Mbps for that and that's already the lowest DSL you can get around here (30Mbps is normally the minimum). Also here in The Netherlands (and I think in a lot of other EU countries as well), at least half the population uses cable, which starts at 50Mbps, making 4K streaming no problem at all...
"Making any new game purchase playable on both the Xbox was a very good one. If you have not noticed, the Xbox out sold the PS4 duing the past holiday season by a significant margin." LINK PLEASE! Earlier in this discussion the opposite has been proven already. I also gotta note that finally PS4 Pro is starting to be no longer sold out in stores (4 months after release!), which would indicate that PS4 still has a major share over XB! on the market. Also when I look at stores here, I see only a couple of XB1 machines on stock while PS4's stock (both Slim and Pro) is at least 5 times that. This would indicate that PS4 still is more popular, demanded and sold than XB1.
It is quite wtf, but for me they don't feel out of place. Think due to them not going overboard with the machine types and keeping them similar to animals we know of and at some point existed irl. They did a good job with the prehistoric-esk meets futuristic world. Also think this is revealed overtime as the story unravels

Admittedly i have only watched a couple of lets play videos on youtube, i lost interest in watching more because i just don't like the way the main character looks, the facial structure is horrible, but thats not the only thing wrong with her, honestly if there was a selection of characters, even if they were all female, to choose from, its possible i might get the game, but with the character available, there is no point in ever buying the game.
Its on PS3 so its a waste because I don't do consoles and because its Sony Exclusive lol?
The idea behind Sony Exclusive games is to get people to buy their consoles and Sony pays the game developers while you pay them back for buying the game + their console to play it on not worth.
I don't about you guys, but I don't want my hard earned money going into pay for payoffs. That's one big reason why I don't own any console.
Owning a developer house and making a game for only your system is one thing. Paying off a developer house to do it is something completely different and it's something that should be abolished.

OK I'm going to buy a PS4 just to play this game. I have an Xbox 1 which i rarely use. I'm a high end PC guy, always have been and probably always will be. Playing on a console isn't something i enjoy a whole lot, dunno why but i prefer a PC as it's so much better to me in every conceivable way.
(not pulling a PC master race here, it's a frame of what i like for the question i'm about to ask)
OK so... PS4 or PS4 pro? The extra bones isn't a huge deal, but it's making this purchase to play one game a whole lot more than want to spend at all. Yes i know I'll have the PS4 for years to come and i know it'll sit there mostly off like my X1 does as time goes by but it's another option for exclusive titles.
I only have a 1080p tv and have less than zero plans to go 4k anytime soon, I'm always on PC. The most i do with the tv is watch shows and xbox a few times a year and this is literally to play GTAO with friends who don't have a PC to run the game.

If you're not going 4K, the Pro is not necessary. I have a 4K TV and STILL refuse to go PS4Pro because it didn't add anything good to the pile. Just some upscaling.
That being said, the game is gorgeous. No real slowdowns. I hit my first "loading" screen going into a machine factory the other night but other than that nothing.
I can't believe people have let this devolve into a console/troll thread. We should be celebrating when games of this caliber release. It's not often and we should praise it when it is done right. This is not Skyrim's "you are who you want to be" this is more like Tomb Raiders "You are Lara Croft". Period. If you can't play a game because of one character, you're missing out on the game. That's fine, but it's shortsighted.
Judging by the comments in this thread, this particular "console exclusive" is justifying the whole concept of "console exclusives" quite convincingly. It won't just be the handful of posters in this thread that will be buying their first PS to play Zero Dawn...

Thanks! I have a PS3 and knew eventually i would get a PS4 one day, today is that day. Almost bought one before the Pro came out, the pro option only made the decision a little more complex.
Going for the slim, reading the Pro gets noisy? I'm no fan of a noisy fan, that i know.

There is also the possibility that some ps4 games will offer more than just 30 fps on the ps4 pro, but as for the 4k thing, its not true 4k so probably not a consideration in the decision to get one, there is however the possibility that in future, games that work well on the ps4pro will not run so well on the ps4, it is an old console at this point so worth bearing in mind that the hardware is already out of date.

Please disregard the comment of @Ikeda. The Pro DOES make a lot of difference from the Slim with this game. When not playing 4K/HDR, the game will use the Pro's power to add it to add a massive amount of supersampling, which you will notice when playing. And this will most likely be done to more games to be released in the future (Horizon being the 1st doing this afaik)
Also, with the upcoming 4.5FW (already beta in Japan), EVERY game will be allowed to use the full graphical potential of the Pro. Dunno how they wanna pull that off, but I'd say it's yet an other reason to drop that extra $/€100 for the Pro.
And yes, the Pro fan might get noisy when it's pushed to the max (see start of this thread). But if you have the Pro near your TV and sound through speakers, you prolly might not rly notice it.
F'it I'll grab the pro and stop thinking about it. I know it sounds silly buying a console for a game, but it's the first game to come along to entice me to upgrade from the PS3, it was an eventuality.
I guess a better question is PS5? Any word? news?

That being said, the game is gorgeous. No real slowdowns. I hit my first "loading" screen going into a machine factory the other night but other than that nothing.
I can't believe people have let this devolve into a console/troll thread. We should be celebrating when games of this caliber release. It's not often and we should praise it when it is done right. This is not Skyrim's "you are who you want to be" this is more like Tomb Raiders "You are Lara Croft". Period. If you can't play a game because of one character, you're missing out on the game. That's fine, but it's shortsighted.
Going for the slim, reading the Pro gets noisy? I'm no fan of a noisy fan, that i know.
I guess a better question is PS5? Any word? news?
