SW:G I hated only one character per server. Once you reached Master level in the skills that most interested you, your choices were delete the toon and start a new one or go back to being a n00b with the current one. Also the lack of content. And waiting 10 minutes for a shuttle if you just missed one.

Horizons: I'm not into crafting at all ( I work for a living, why do I want to work in a game  ) and while it may have the best crafting system ever  it wasn't what I wanted. Also, the combat system didn't allow for the type of character I wanted to play, though I tried. Having to travel long distances through dangerous areas to do most quests didn't help much either. Another thing was how you couldn't play with friends that were much higher level than you.

I've played CoH/CoV for most of the last 2 years and it has what I like. No crafting (though you now can if you really want to but don't have to) and you can play with friends that are higher (or lower) level than you with out much difficulty. That and you can have up to 12 toons per server. I really like that

Ill add SWG, only cause even though I have never played it, I have friend who do, who were betrayed by SOE, and so yeah, I hate it.

    As for those ive played...

EVE- Boring. Im sorry, but its just a simple fact, regardless of anything else, I just was sooo damn bored.

FFXI- Frustratingly grindfest of japan. I love the japanese. I love most of final fantasy. I like the graphics. The rest of this game...crap. Could have been awesome, instead, it stunk worse than a grandma in the crapper after a mexican dinner.

Everquest Online Adventures- I am ashamed to say I played this giant turd. I didnt have a computer at the time for my own use, so I could only play MMO on my ps2. Man was that a big mistake. Horrible graphics (even with frontiers) hardly any players, crap without a keyboard attachment, boring gameplay...ugh.

And I forgot to add this first time, but Guild Wars- Im sorry, but to me this is a prettier version of Diablo 2, which sucked as well. I give kudos to Arena for their software, but the gameplay was boring as hell. I felt the customization of both the player models, and the various types of equipment to be subpar, and the full instancing...ughh. I love instancing for certain things, but I like to have wide open non instanced fields to play in as well. Plus the pvp was boring, plus im not a huge pvp fan either.

Well thats about it out of those I truely did not like.

    STAR WARS GALAXIES

My first MMO....spent thousands of hours playing....grinded 27 professions....then did the suicide inducing grind to full template a jedi.

Then after SOE takes me for hundreds of dollars and thousands of hours, they take a John Holmes replica dildo and cram it in my ass for thanks......making everything I ever did totally worthless....oh...not quite worthless....Obi Wan gave me a robe ::::11::

I rarely ever use the word HATE and really really mean it.

    I HATE SOE....HATE THEIR GUTS.

    Well...let's start to see...

The Dark Queen of Krynn is my favorite game of all time...it is a text based game with a grid for combat...20 years old game so you have to take that into account. :)  The previous Death Knight of Krynn and Champion of Krynn are extremely nice as well, the FR Pool of Darkness was not bad, with the game preceding it (Pool of Radian, Secret of the Silver Blade and Azure something) as where the SF...but since they are all similar, I make 1 big package.

Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal would be a close second call, with all game leading to it, including the variation that are Icewind Dales, Torment and Fallout (I hear souls been tortured and disagreeing with me putting them into the same category, especially Fallout fans...yet they know I love their game to place it in a sub category with my 2nd favorite game ever so they prolly forgive me).

Birthright, that was quite a sight and an especially nice promise, too bad Sierraa never deliver it...I mean...it was really something!  It was the rightfull successor to Sword of Aragon (geek test, who know this game, Strategic Award winner in 1988!).

ToEE was fine but a tadbit short.

Tower of Doom was really great (arcade).

Neverwinter Night are decent games, I would not praise them to much, they are on the decline compare to other products released.

BGs on the Xbox was okay.  The other diablolike game (can't recall the name, but even more recent) was okay.  Eye of the Beholder was fun.  Menzoberanzen (spelling?) was entertaining...

DDO is with DragonShard the only D&D product I doesn't enjoy on the computer...yet DragonShard was crystal clear about it so not a disappointment.  DDO...*make angry eyes*

I may sound like an alta vista translation to you, but you can thank SSI for the fact that at least I know the words!

Eve online, no doubt. Its just so damn boring.. All i had to do was to find my destination, turn on the autopilot and then go do something totally different. I could play it if it played totally in the background and took no cpu on my pc, so that way i could play a game that actually gives me something to do.
Seriously, Freecell is ten times as fun as that game...

    I have to say WoW.
Compared to the hype it's been getting it really sucks. For the reasons that people already mentioned,
and also Blizzards attitude against it's customers, you often get the feeling that it's something like
"yeah so you have a problem and we don't want to fix it for you, so what? we don't care if you
stop playing, beside you we have 5 million other people paying us every day!"

And before you ask, I have 2x60 chars, so yes I have played the so-called endgame in wow,
I'm not one of those ppl saying stuff based on just some article that I read or something.

DDO easy.  Funny thing is DDO really isn't a MMO, but they want to be treated as such.  That being the case, DDO get my vote.

I'd rather play Toontown than DDO.

  • chlaoschlaos Member Posts: 1,118

Overall, it is clearly SWG-NGE...there really shouldnt be any debate.

Why because they took the best game and made it into an unplayable piece of crap.   So really they  get two "worst" votes, one for the horrible game that is NGE, and one for destroying a great game.

Like the last guy said Runescape or Second Life would be my number one pick...but last night I decided to try this game called D&D Online:stormreach! I was thinking it could be cool and I wanted to give it a try formyself, you know was like a fair shake...I love the boulders gates and stuff so I thought this game might be very cool and uniqe combat! at first I thought maybe my first char was just bad so I made another, bottom line is this was honestly honestly the most lame, the worst clone of I dont know what I have ever played....So D&D wins!!!

    I play all ghame

Everquest 2: I wouldn't say this is the worst game ever but it certainly did nothing to bring back what was great about EQ1. This would be biggest let down category of least favorites.

Shadowbane: I really enjoyed the backstory that was published for this game pre-release as well as the cool racial choices (Minotaur and Centaur). The game itself however was horrible. Bad graphics, animations, buggy and annoying glitches, lack of content, etc. This one is the worst most uncomplete game category of my least favorites.

Guild Wars: This one I tried after boredom with EQ2. I file this one under WTF is this cause it's not a MMORPG category of least favorites. I was so annoyed with the linear console like feel of this one that even with it being free, I couldn't bring myself to keep playing.

Asheron's Call 2: Tried this one as a trial and although it was pretty graphically for it's time, anything else like content, fun, variety, immersion were missing. I give this one the "Why do your cities feel like graveyards" category of least favorite MMORPG.

Honorable mention goes to SWG and D&D Online. I didn't buy either but wanted to before seeing where they we're going with the games.

SWG (NGE) it’s surprising how my most favorite game became my least favorite overnight.

    EQ by a long shot.

I was an avid gamer and knew nothing of MMOs.  Friends convinced me to buy EQ and I still to this day do not know what kind of dope they were smoking.  The graphics were horrid on the original and I wasn't about to buy an expansion to it.

    Second, UO.  Enough said.

What I don't get is those bashing WoW.  Ok, maybe not everyone's taste but there's nothing better out there right now.

Above all my least favorite MMO is Final Fantasy XI by Far!

I played this game for two weeks i just couldnt stand the constant grind and the gameplay was just Soooo borin!

and my least 2nd favorite is WoW

I played WoW for 4 months and it took my that long to realise how bad this game actually is, its got no depth, the PvP is limited to BG's and where is the War in World of Warcraft?

I think there is plenty of room for debate.

If it really were the best game, then it wouldn't have been incapable of delivering new players and hemorraging old players like there's no tomorrow - two things which don't exactly indicate a healthy and long lasting game. Not a damn thing worked in the entire game properly, and that's before the CU. It's amazing how selective people's memories are.

Not to mention that most of the people here saying SWG haven't actually put any objective time into the NGE - how many of these posts have been on behalf of friends or from people who quit before the first post-NGE publish. How can opinions based on hearsay and friends of friends actually be considered valid? Primary sources only people.

What, you don't get people bashing WoW???

    I do.
How about that it's got nothing original.  Everything in that game has already been done.

You dis EQ, but go look at the history of that game and how innovative it's been.  Yeah, the graphics suck cuz it's an old game.  But it's got more content and things to do than any WoW fan can shake any kind of stick at.

If you're going to judge a game by graphics alone then you're really limiting yourself.  EQ has tons more depth than WoW.

you've made a valid point in WoW as "Where's the war?", but you have to remember the griefers.  If it were true to Warcraft, there'd be anarchy.  People snipe all over the place and some get easilly frustrated by dying to a griefer.  Eventually, only one side would survive, currently the alliance, because they have more players.  Horde would be crushed in no time.  Only way to regulate that is to allow the player to select when he/she wishes to fight.  Even PvP Realms have areas where one cannot be attacked.  Stands to reason that someone should have a safe haven to grind.  I've read posts from people who've moved from PvP realms where they were indiscriminantly attacked while fishing.  I don't think that's much fun.
  • donfindonfin Member Posts: 6

Yes, I dis EQ cause it sucked right out of the box.

    WoW did not.

My opinion, so get a life.

    You're bio says you're 42.
If you can't handle a discussion at that age then you need to "get a life".
Why post on a discussion forum if you can't handle someone disagreeing with you?

I don't think EQ sucks.  I've been playing it for over 6 years.  I didn't like WoW because I didn't see anything in it that isn't in other games already.  I challenge you to tell me one thing WoW has that isn't in another game.

If you want to discuss topics on a forum then why not try posting some of your arguments.  Not attacking people personally.  Especially someone your age.

Hahahaha, I checked his personal info too.  I was going to cut him some slack if it said 14 or something.  But 42????

WoW is the king of thieves.  It's got nothing new.  That's why I quit playing it.  I didn't feel comfortable paying for someone who stole ideas.  I expected more from Blizzard.  Maybe they should have stuck with the RTS games.  They are the king of those.

One thing I have always found interesting.  People play games and leave them for various reasons. Most of the time after they quit they will say "that game sucked, or I got tired of it", or whatever.

But SWG, more than any other game, inspires passionate hatred in its detractors. People don't just quit that game. They quit and become almost gollum-like in their denunciation of it. "Baggins . We hates it foreeeeeeeeeeeever!!!"

I confess I am one of those gollums.
