At this point; Is Steam even doing anything to give devs/publishers an incentive to release on their platform without the delay? I mean, sure...it sucks if you dislike the Epic store front, but I would have expected Steam to defend their position a bit more aggressively...

I was just waiting to see if Suzie would spot that one, not that posters here are editorial Nazi's or anything. :)

As yet I don't think Epic Store has an exclusive that I want to play, no doubt something will in the future. While I favour competition we have yet to see how the consumer is benefiting from any of this, but for Epic that's not the point.

don't belive steam cares, they know epic is strong arming thenselfs to push inside, but chances are they don't belive they can keep this up for long and eventually they will start to cut, plus if steam cared about any competition they wouldn't let the devs who promised to sell on his plataform leave.

but its like someone already said here and I said several times before, epic is not giving the players any advantage to choose then, they are forcing you do so, but in the end of the day I tend to buy from steam because steam is cheaper, so in then end of the day steam is the player friendly one, and fromt he way things are going it will be steam who is players friendly when epic is dev friendly, and any smart person will choose what gives you the most benefit, the rushers, who like day 1 games full of bugs and half content are not the smart person category so.

Both games I've bought from the Epic store were complete games with no discernable/small bugs (so far).  Both have been bought within a month of release.

You gotta wait for the majority of games on Steam to bake well beyond the release date because, well, Steam doesn't give a shit about even a minimum standard of quality.  It's actually quite refreshing to launch a digital storefront and not be bombarded with ads for bullshit, half-baked EA titles.

So most of us know that in America money tends to make money. People keep saying Epic wont last and they are just trying to bully their way in or, as above, strong arm their way in. Epic will beat steam if they dont change. They have the income to offer devs of AAA titles that people are going into withdrawals waiting for and it's all because of fortnite. Epic knows this and will use the money to establish themselves above steam before fortnite dies out, whenever that may be.

yeah because 2 games against what? several from steam is a nice way to compare, I had games on steam then from day one was bug free too and "complete", the issue of saying the game is complete is simple, if they launch a DLC to expand anything(or worse a day 1 dlc), that means the game is not complete MHW was complete when launched there was no dlc(for content at least just flufly) and they anounce a expansion for it who will bring new things, that is the issue and the diference with I see most of you who defend steam or epic or the devs miss, and miss hard

That makes no sense. If the argument is "the store has no relation to the game's state at launch" so you can't use the same argument to defend epic and bash steam.

What's your deal in defending epic store?

Epic store is a good thing.  What's your problem with Steam having some competition?  Is it too much of a burden to have to game launchers on your computer?

yes it is, even more if I don't want to, plus I already told you, only reason I buy from steam is price, I wait for a year at least before buying a game and wait for some promo with 50% cut on price, if not the same game same price and all I buy it from gog, DRM free is so much better

Like I said, won't be getting it at launch then *shrugs*. Besides, 2k has rough years following borderlands in terms of shobing mtx on their games. I'm more worried about that than if I will be able to play at launch.
well, that question is answered pretty fast:

if you don't get it on launch, then no, you won't be able to play it on launch :)
you are welcome. if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

me on the other hand, yes, i can play it, and you may guess why <3

LOL. Saying a game works on Epic is like saying "Hey this game that Epic ported from Steam works".

Either way, Gearbox and Epic have just made it so this goes from pre-order to buy as cheap as possible in the inevitable GOTY edition.

Epic doesnt have: Reviews, Mod support, user profiles, cloud saves, forums, item trading, library sorting, account sharing, streaming to other devices, wish lists, user guides; it also has pretty terrible account security - personally had my account compromised twice in the past year. Forcing people to buy certain games from your shop is not competition, its just strong arming. I really don't understand why people are defending Epic. Steam takes a cut for a lot of other supportive features. Sure I want a solid competitor for Steam, not this risky anti-consumer wannabe store.

I dont get why people like you are even bitching ... You had no intention of ever supporting the developers, artists, programmers, writers, qa people, etc anyways! You weren't going to buy day 1 even if it was on steam, because you guys just leech onto the games when they are 50-75% off. And by then the game will be on steam anyways. SO why complain? It will be there for your sale price so you can continue supporting valve and not the companies actually making the games you claim you love.

But I do want to thank you for being such a contributing member to our hobby/community.

These topics should be called Rinse and Repeat. Same comments over and over just different game name. People said it would not last due to nerd rage over Metro, then we moved to Division 2, then Outer Worlds, and now Borderlands 3. Lets keep moving that goal post folks.

It makes little difference with the amount of games to buy and play. Storefront exclusives only hurt sales potential, imo. Their loss, I have 20 games on my steam and amazon wishlist already.

I wanted to buy Operencia yesterday in the Epic store.
So I proceeded to make an account; filled in my emailadress and got notified I already had an account.
Do you want to change your password? Ok.
So i changed my password and logged in.
It was an aaccount from someone in Thailand (I am in Europe)

So no.not gonna buy something there….

*sigh* Well I guess I won't be playing it until much later. I honestly don't hold loyalty to any particular company but I'm tired of having to bloat up my computer with software that does the exact same thing. I already need to have three digital store platforms with text and voice chat features just to play games I already own, I don't want another one. Especially when one of those, Origin, runs a constant process in the background whether I run the launcher at startup or not. I have a notebook with all my gaming passwords, totalling 137 accounts I have to keep track of, and Epic wants me to make another one. I'm sick of the division in the industry, this isn't the future I expected when I was a child in the 80's. So, sorry Gearbox but you're getting at least one less sale because you decided some kind of point needed to be made, and you thought your brand name would be enough to force it. Although honestly after the Pre-Sequel you kinda deserve it anyway.
