Themepark to me is not a full MMORPG. If they made WoW 2 I would like to see more simulation in the background with player housing and everything. Sandpark please lol.
With twitch combat.
Which when added will alienate me and a significant subset of the MMORPG player base from considering the game.
The twitch gamers are all off playing Fortenite or some other shooter, these just aren't their style of game.
Its funny how different people see the same issue. I don't see the people who play fortnight, division, destiny, pugb, Anthem, etc, as twitch gamers - I see them as people who hate rpgs and rpg systems. MMO players and not mmorpg fans.
I highly prefer isometric fixed-camera TB games, but if I can't have that the combat model doesn't matter - the delivery system does. I need it to have an adult level rpg system that is the core, and not super lite tact-on nonsese a six year old can easily understand. I actually highly prefer twitch in 1st/3rd person games since right-click hold to move the camera is super annoying. I'd much rather have mouse view.
Its also much better training for the arena. I haven't really played wow since pre-cataclysm and Ghost Crawler and the rpg-haters destroying it, but if they progress Classic to BC I know I'll do much in the arena with all the time I put into Wildstar's arena, or just getting generally better at learning and avoiding animation tells, more poition control and reflex dendant games (BAMs in Tera, or even SP games like ELEX).
And not all twitch games are very twitchy. DDO is technically twitch and has mouse view, but it isn't skill based aiming or require dodging, strafing, or jumping often during combat.
Why bother? What is the benefit on making a new mmorpg when you can spend that resource improving the one you have.
Or my question is what do you think Wow 2 can do that Wow 1 can't already do?
For starters, I bet you they'd get a lot of returning/new customers just by updating the engine/using a new engine/art style of the game alone. When I used to talk to people outside in the real world about WoW, they'd always say oh that cartoony looking mmo? That was back in the day when it was still a huuuuge hit and being talked about everywhere but the engine and art style alone could be new and bring in lots of people I think. That's just 1 thing but its 1 huge thing.
Put the world back in world of warcraft... as in go away from 1928391823 instanced based content and make the world bigger, more meaningful, bring in group content in the actual world(like Vanguard did years ago) not in instances. It was incredible.(Vanguard had the BEST world content ever in an MMO even with all its issues and bugs, their open world dungeons were incredible, absolutely incredible and masssssive so many people could group in them.
Make it so that if you walk around the world you somewhat fear death, nowadays you pull 91283918328 mobs and AoE them down with zero fear of dying. That in itself makes the game boring as fuck and dumbed down when its so god damn easy you can pull hundreds of mobs and survive. I mean if I wanted that Id just go play an ARPG, not an MMO.
Bring back a community or a sense of community, where you actually get to know people on your SERVER(Do away with cross server bullshit) and actually know their names and build friendships/relationships with them. I mean I could go on and on what they could do.
They quite literally did away with everything that made MMO's unique and fun. Challenge(sense of accomplishment ties in with this), a meaningful world, community, sense of danger. There's none of that in current WoW.

You are talking about a change in game design. Which is totally fine.
I asked my question because OP seemed to imply a more polished version of wow while keeping the same formula. But wow is already very polished. Which is pretty much its strong point.
If only there are more game with different game design but have same polish as wow.
If I were Triple A with the money backing, I would keep it a secret until 30 days before launch and then advertise the hell out of it.
Hype is good, stretch it too long is not good, I think you loose people if too long or people loose some of the desire. I don't see any good coming from long hype.
Who is best for making a good Triple A ? -Blizzard -ArenaNet -Microsoft
About Square Enix - They actually pulled it off with FF14, They also proved a monthly subscription still works and is very REPUTABLE in my opinion. However I hate the game for small zones, 400 part solo quest line and child like game play. But at least they did it.
About Blizzard - Their will come a day when WoW will loose its mojo. I would even predict in the next three years. They should have a backup to shoot them back to #1 (for an mmorpg). Of the top three I mentioned Blizzard has the best chance..... I'm willing to bet there is a secret project !
As someone mentioned Classic WoW could be a test bed on how (current or classic).
They kind of do -- it is called the squish. They are looking at reducing the total levels from the current 120. Assuming they do this in a smart manner -- they could essentially make the game WoW 2 by (at the next expansion) squishing everyone to level 30-40 (or even lower) and making the next expansion go to level 60. Make said expansion something grand and have a path in it from 1 to 60 with the rest of the world being an optional area pretty much.
I honestly think, Blizzard are using the classic relaunch as a test bed to see how players react to older mechanics. It seems like it's finally dawned on them that the constant streamlining of everything has gone too far and taken away from the MMO experience.
You can see from the articles on here lately, devs talking about how ability pruning was too much and asking whether a level squish is viable. I think if classic is a hit they'll take the ideas from it and roll with em.
It's too late for them to change this sort of thing in retail, Pandora's box was opened and there ain't no closing it now.
That is a very optimistic insight, but I hope you're right.
gaming trends change. It's hard really to predict the tastes of the gaming public. WoW 1 had the benefit of landing first on a non-saturated market. WoW 2... who knows what the future gamers will want?
This is true. Thats why I list three companies that MAY take the risk. If not were done.... We need hope and this is where the hope will come from.
While I think you mean well, I think you have no clue at all the resources it would take to make WoW 2.0 Star Citizen is still at least two years away from launch and they are over $300 million into that game. Crowfall and that p.o.s. they call a game is over $50 million and you can see what they put out for that much. So, if you think Activision/Blizzard or the other two companies you listed are willing to shell out $300+ million for a 5 year minimum project commitment when 12-18 month battle royals like Fortnite are striking Billions, you are crazy.
If what you say is true, I'm sure it is BUT.... BUT if it's true I guess it's safe to say will never get another mmoprg, because cost is too high.
Blizz focus is on D4 , Classic , Overwacth then the rest of there stable , there is no Wow 2 at all in the works , altho there are some other very early concept things going on
As long as WoW is successful there's no reason to split that base up. What they should have is another MMORPG in the making that is a complete departure. Use the opportunity to fix/improve everything they've learned over all these years.
"As far as the forum code of conduct, I would think it's a bit outdated and in need of a refre *CLOSED*"

Honestly, I think some players who play MMORPG think too highly of the the genre. If Destiny style games were high fantasy in the vain of BDO combat you wouldn't really be able to tell the difference between that and most MMORPG. Doesnt really matter engine is powering the game type if the performance is the same.
I was curious to see where wow would go with a few expansions...Coming from EQ, we saw the same thing.....You can only expand so many times before ruining the game.....Though the burning crusade wasn't too bad gameplaywise, it did introduce too powerful of gear and from then on the game just went downhill.
Blizzard can barely have intriguing gameplay and content for the current retail WoW. Not to mention they're disdain for ineptness in class design and class balance.
Have they even got classic out the door? I keep thinking they have as there is so much talk about it and then I realise it is still yet to come out. So maybe they need to get that out the door first.
The second iteration of a MMO does not always work that well, look at EQ2 or GW2, Of those two I preferred EQ2 though it was GW2 that was a "success", in terms of player numbers anyway. AC2 never stayed the course, it is a minefield.
For me it would be the same game with new graphics, I think that would work better than a whole new world as they do not seem to work as well as some would think they will.
GW1 wasnt a MMO. GW1-to-GW2 is more of a cross genre lore continuation like like Warcraft 3 was to WoW
At this stage WoW is so old -- and it's player base -- that the game would have to be divided in old and new play styles.
Some of us are in our 50s and 60s now. We can't play the hours we did, nor can we physically jump around in games, either. Two strokes later, just moving in WoW is the feat for me, so found my own niche and that's fine.
What I don't like is being FORCED to do content I simply can't do anymore TO progress. Mythic 10+ dungeons for example. Then, all the light effects blind me for hours to even a whole day, and can't see through it. How would you feel if a game blinds you like that (you also can't turn those effects off, either)? How would you feel if you have one good hand and THAT has to be how you move AND CLICK those buttons? That you need breaks in doing content when people SCREAM you're "too slow" for their botting runs (good God they don't even hide them anymore)?
WoW will NEED more accessibility options as we become geriatrics. In a couple of years sis can draw Social Security as it is.
See now how/why the game needs to be split for each generation even? The younger folks want their arena play for the cameras. The older players want their chit chats WHILE raiding, not jumping all over. Each generation has their own culture in itself. Each have their own wants, and in some cases, even needs to even play anymore.
I'll be curious how gaming will handle a geriatric gaming population that's too PC for Wii, yet not into all the new fangled stuff the kids are into, either. Will there be specialists for it considering the first generation PC gamers are in their 50s now?
Those are the issues Blizzard has to think about within a decade, too. Within that time I'll be on Social Security, too!
No Blizzard should not try to build another MMORPG. Right now with Bob KoDickHead in charge he would turn the MMORPG into a P2W feast of the people who can spend $1000+ a month and the rest of the people who hate playing. No At this time Other publishers should make MMORPGS, not ones run by people that think Micro-transactions are good.

Even Blizzard said WoW would not work in a P2W manner. Why they were building Titan for that, but for whatever reason they stopped it and reused the assets for Overwatch. They were fussing with DOTA, so it would've been something similar.
Two freaking years of development time that gave WoW players 6 months of crappy Timeless Isle grinding, all scrapped and now used in Overwatch.
Blizzard knows if WoW becomes a P2W game (bad enough there's Raider.io and other roadblocks like buying raid runs) the game is dead. The greatest loss in players you'd see in a game is when Blizzard brings in P2W. The all know it. Activision would only do that if they want to kill Blizzard, as Blizzard is a closed garden. The players play within it. WoW goes, there went Diablo and Overwatch and Starcraft base players.
WoW 2 would be an awesome game in right hands but unfortunately no one at Blizzards these days have a clue what made WoW such a phenomenon it was. They think they do but the best they can offer is WoD, Legion and BfA kind of generic crap no one really likes.
Mike Morhaime explained recently what happened to the SEQUEL of WoW (yes, Titan was the 2.0 game of WoW), straight from the horse's mouth (and you can blame 2 things that went wrong: the engine wasn't ready and Overwatch ... they abandoned Titan FOR Overwatch)...

Saying nay because I’m bitter about not being able to play a Hydralisk in first person.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
You stay sassy!
