I like the game, though the balance is wonky.

You faceroll everything, until the Act bosses one shot you. WTF.

Feels like a super casual game, until you get to the Dark Souls hard end bosses.

My personal solution has been to switch down to "Story Mode" of the act endings.

I do not as such have a problem with games being hard, if they are so consistently. This just seems random though.

you are doing something wrong if Boss(Edric) is oneshotting you , in regards to difficulty its is much like D3 in that regard . you should not be dying  at this stage .. just learning .. it gets harder
He does have a point in that there is quite the difficulty disconnect between fights leading up to boss fights and the boss fights themselves. I don't mind hard but the game lulls you into a false sense of confidence and then the boss at the end of each act in the campaign smartens you up.

Personally I've found that having at least 100 health or health + force shield per level makes life much easier in those boss fights if you miss a dodge.

With the right build , Edric gets wrecked easily , and there are many ways to build for that , but like i said ..

Its similar to D3 in difficulty regards at the start .. its a big tutorial basically
D3 is a good example but not the way you mean it.

In D3 you can play at any one of 20 difficulty levels and adjust up or down according to your build and gear. But if you're facerolling regular mobs at Torment 1 you will also faceroll the bosses. That's the same for any difficulty level from normal to Torment 16... Diablo, Mathael or any other boss will be slightly more difficult than elite packs but nothing like it is in Wolcen.

IMO Wolcen needs to just up the difficulty of regular mobs. It's important especially for new players, to know as you level and gear whether you're doing it right or not by giving you constant feedback through regular fights. If new players are unprepared for the 3 end of chapter boss fights it's simply because what they faced leading up to them didn't prepare them for it.

This is very different from D3 in that respect. There you know when you fight anything.

Yeah thx for this one I did the same. Have no need to figure out an endgame boss that is so far out of balance with the rest of the game. The way he played on story mode would be more compatible with so called "normal". I can try it on harder later if desired I am interested in seeing the other acts now.

Game has lumps for sure but they did a lot of things right. As mainly an ARPG fan I can stand with others who've posted here. If the company can stay with it this has real potential imho. A definite buy for fans of this genre.

I have only killed Sirkis Bane of Storm so far in Normal difficulty. I know he is not a hard boss but I am not a very good player. I am playing slowly trying various builds. I like the game a lot.

What I am enjoying is the mix and match you can have both a ranger skill and the mage skill or use a gun and shield. This is what makes the game infinitely more interesting than locking me to a class. Not sure if I can get more than 1000 hours out of it like I have in Path of Exile but what I have seen so far has the beginnings of a good addiction.

Steam reviews are really burying this game. The negative reviews are piling on. Mostly because of the bugs.

They might have released too early I think. They should have ironed out some of the bugs. Still I am enjoying playing this game offline. I think there are too few people working on this game since it is a small studio. I sincerely hope this revenge reviews to make sure the game slumps on Steam does not ruin any development and plans they have going forward. Poor beleaguered team. Must be many sleepless nights and many more to come.

I completely understand the bad reviews. It really is extremely buggy. While I like it's ideas and think it has potential, it is a mess and, in my opinion at least, deserves the mixed reviews. It's not just server issues that are causing people to review badly and I don't think it's review bombing. There are nodes on the tree don't work at all or work against you. Some people are getting stuck at the end and can't progress at all. Banks are still getting wiped. Progress is getting wiped after long periods of play. It's very limiting when you learn about all of those issues.

I think a lot of people just don't think it's done yet. There is a rising amount of Wolcen fans that appear to be attributing the bad reviews to weird conspiracy theories now like PoE/Grim Dawn/Diablo fanboys/employees review bombing.  They can't see how weak the execution was on what I think is a series of good ideas overall.

I agree. Although I'm enjoying all the good things about it and the game is right up my alley since I absolutely love "sandboxy" classless systems, it has many, many bugs.

There are trivial bugs (like the small bats that can't be targeted with a bow or pistol attack but can be killed by swinging a sword in their general vicinity or mini bosses in walls or floor that can't be killed preventing completion of a task) right down to severe ones (loss of stash tab and all contents sometimes in online play - happened to me) or absolute disasters (unlocking and then using the forge in end game play can brick your game so that it will always crash whenever you try to start it after logging.)

Apparently it was only Act 1 that was playable during Early Access and that shows.

It does have the potential to be a great game, maybe even the best ARPG eventually, with just the right amount of complexity without going overboard IMO, but at the moment you have to enjoy it despite all the bugs you will definitely run into.

I'm going to keep playing and exploring builds but this will be a much better game in a few months or couple of years.

I want to give the game a try but don’t want it if there’s no HC. https://showbox.bio/ https://tutuapp.uno/

Sorry if this was asked recently, used search but last time this was asked was 6 months ago..

No HC mode yet, perhaps in later patches.
