ok..... to me a incomplete is imcoplete... using your building idea... with out a base there is no house... well i wouldnt want a house with out all its fetures either... but yet we play MMOs that are never completely finished...

If you want to imagine mmorpgs as hosues, most MMORPGs have the foundation and structure built by the time its released. Then new stuff gets added just like you might do a home renovation adding a gas fireplace or building a balcony.
DnL is missing a wall here and there, wiring isn't finished etc...
I'm having troubles working out which game is gonna get hurt the most in the next few months: PotBs is underfire... FomK has been eternally underfire (though ti's released now)...RomaVictor is getting ripped; Vanguard got bought by SOE so it's getting ripped, but DnL attracts most emotion ive seen... I feel like a vulture circling round cowboys and indians. The indians trying to wear down the cowboys but not actually managing to hurt em. Lol... the wild wild west for some folsk out here. Keep 'em waggons rolling, rolling rrawwhhiidee.

So I'm confused here. People are saying there isn't a beta - but at the end of 2003 there was a beta. There were hundreds maybe thousands of people in. People then were saying the game is crap, and it's still being said now but if SoG was crap but people are saying the beta closed last year so there's been no beta and people are saying SoG=DnL are teh beta testers leaking info? Zorbane, you post a lot, so are you a beta tester? Prolly can't say cause your under nda lol - just send me a PM and tell me if it's cool ok?
they have started the download to a "stress test"...here is where ev1 will find out just what those who are still with accounts have been stating. Less than a week for a stress test -- to fix what they havent been able to fix in 6 months -- I can almost guarantee its a "stress test" without any of the features promised and more promises hyped on top. Will be at my neighbors house tomorrow with popcorn in hand.
Im not bothering with it. Honestly didnt even bother loggin in after the last event as all i did was crash AGAIN. I dont see how they can call a limited user only an open stress test. STill full of smoke and mirrors and too dang frustrating to try a "test" when its been "tested" for the last six months.

looks like they will have a server for about every 10 players, damn thing better run smooth. Should be interesting to see. DnL's last chance so to speak. I must agree with some of the posters here. I do not believe a limited stress test will do what they are trying to hype about. The problems still existed up and until the game closed on the 15th. Their statement was they arent going to fix it since they are "working on DNL" (again another allude to a miracle build). It was this thread and another that had someone adamantly stating a stress test would be done. I honestly dont see how they can "stress" the servers and fix what problems there were for a continued 6 months in less than 5 days time. I just dont see it happening.
I was also under the impression,much like most of us I guess, that a stress test was already done per Farlans statements in one of the last Q&A's. Therefore , when they throw out "Stress Test, Download Now", most would assume it would be the open stress as many mmo's do right before release. I was mildly surprised and yes, a bit disappointed that it would be a major final stress with what is left of the original thousands. It does not bode well for the release condition nor for the future of the game.
I do agree that many mmos have released with much to be desired. However you cannot possibly compare this game to the big ones and how the big boys started out simply because it was sooo long ago. Add a dash of a much smaller, much less experienced development team and it isnt in the same league. I can see however if they muddle through and limp along, it may have a passable player base in 2 years time. From the time of release of SOG until this "stress test" ( I even feel funny calling it that) DNL has not shown much more to not believe it wont truly be a game worth a monthly subscription until at least 2-4 years down the road.
Welp, here we go. I am sure there will be glowing reports and flat out horrible reports. I will see for myself, i still have the option of the refund.

did you get in Pris? You can see the reports already. not even hours in and they had major major bugs with not even 1/10th of the needed participants. I feel for ya Pris, hope you got in.

I think the "stress test" has shown even to the more dedicated fanbois that there is no miracle build . They may as well stick the fork into into it, this turkey is done.

Actually, the fanbois are just happy to get something, anything. Farlan has spent the last month making excuses and lowering their fans expections so far, that even re-releasing SoG with a couple more bugged out features has given them hope.
My god, people on the official forums are reporting--before the posts are deleted--that they are still getting the DnLg.exe crash after 10 minutes of playing, repeatedly. Same old, same old.
At this point DnL's only hope is a didicated fanbase of people willing to pay to beta-test their game for them.
I also find it worth mentioning, that there is still no in-game bug reporting tool, like /bug. So that even if the devotees want to report bugs, they still have no easy why of doing it. One post on the forums by a fan was begging to left the NDA so that they could start a buglist thread for the devs.

hmmmm, dont say entertainment you willl get psychoanalyzed. I think however they pick on Cholayna simply because she seems to be the most vocal and has had some very valid points but thats what they dont get. This game is simply a bit of entertainment -- sorta like the Three Stooges (Farlan, NP3 and AD), or Dean and Jerry, Sanford and Son, Lucy and Ricky, Mork and Mindy, and of course that old comedy soap called Soap.
I agree totally, as a current pioneer who is holding out for the completed game (but will prolly get my refund when they have again failed to deliver a game playable in industry standards or failed to deliver as advertised. The option is open for two years. I can wait. I gotta see the end of the tracks.

I have been following this game for quite a while and after reading the posts over the last few days I would not buy this thing. The developers are out and out liars and the screenshots I have seen are extremely weak. I am going to wait a long while, at least 6 months, before I even consider this thing.

this thing will be a bad memory in MMORPG history in six months, I doubt if they will be able to afford to keep the servers up for more than a month or two
