Well.. I for one do not like the new graphics, the attempt to shade them looks like fuzzy shit, and I wish they kept the more hard lined Claymation style graphics they had in beta.
I also think my graphic card can't keep up with the updated graphics, so that's a pool shitter for me regarding this game.

This is probably the perfect thread to just lay this gem from 2018.
"ArtCraft Entertainment, the studio developing the PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game Crowfall, announced today that it will begin licensing its MMO-making engine and tools. ArtCraft is calling the new stack of technology the Artisan Engine."
Wonder how all the "engine" sales are going considering the negative reports regarding the game's performance and animations?

Haha I am that guinecean named Lemmywinks! I agree with everything you said about the weightless and slightly unresponsive combat, and I also think the player mobility is just much too fast right now. It's almost like a first person MOBA. All the melee heroes already have charges and other gap closers so a slightly slower pace wouldnt be too big a buff to ranged. If you ever find yourself on US West 1 again, send me a friend invite and we can crack some skulls.

Well they could always add animations, nothing said about the combat seems unfixable. However, the length of time it would take would run into months and they may not even see this as a priority.
Check the stats required for the crafting skill you're using. If your class' primary stat is say, Dex and the crafting skill uses Str, your chances at low rolls/failures are higher. Also, if you get a flawed crafting, you should have an option to repair it before you go to the polish phase.
Trying to 'solo' crafting is also lengthy endeavor once you get to the Advanced items. For example my Confessor's weapon (a Book) takes leather, metal, and wood as base products. You have to craft chapters, bindings, hinges, casing?, sinew, glue(purchased I think). You have several steps between constructing components and constructing the book. The gathering skills are skinning, mining, logging and the crafting skills are leatherworking, metalworking, and woodworking.
I may have missed a few things, this was all off the top of my head.
Each of those skills, is a profession unto itself. You can do them all at the higher levels if you slot the proper runes, but your stats play into how well you do and how good the final product is.
That's where all the designed interdependencies among players comes in. Not just among the crafters, but the gatherers and in dangerous areas, escorts for the gatherers and haulers.
I can agree with the author. I did not think about it but everything felt clunky.
More than anything, for me, I am getting tired of session play. Battle passes, sessions, games restarting or whatever you want to call it...
I guess I am more old school and like big, persistent worlds. The battlepass in Destiny 2 and Fallout has killed my interest for those games. So the iverall design of Crowfall was also an issue for me.
To each their own I guess and I wish them, and all gaming companies success in launches but I may have to try and find something more traditional. Its getting harder with each passing year.
I'm with you on this. I've missed out on some seemingly good games because I refuse to play anything with a "season pass."
I actually like the combat. To each his own. I mean its way better (like a million light years better) than ESO or WOW yet those are some of the most popular mmos. It also has siege engines, stealth sneaking around, anti-stealth units etc. Combat is secondary to guild wars (not the game), gear, crafting and gathering etc and it should be, in my opinion, regarded as such.
CF will always be a niche game. What I love the most is crafting. A guild with a good crafted gear would have a massive advantage over others, which is rare in games today as they are mostly p2w. Also lvl30 is where the game begins. A difference between lvl30 and 35 is like a difference between an ant and an elephant. Getting to 35 might take someone months, if at all. Getting to 30 is 2 hours tops.
What I don't appreciate about this article is that it was named very subjectively with an extremely negative context. in today's world of 5 second human span a title as negative as this one is sure to prevent 99% of the audience to even read anything from your thoughts and already making up their mind. I wonder if mmorpg.com will be reviewing big spender games in this manner also? Probably not.
Also in my view CF will outlast many games in term of longevity providing they do not expect to be the next wow. 10k - 20k players tops at all times. Which beats albion, wurm, xsyon, even EVE at some stage in their existence.
To summarize for the lazy: CF combat is way better than described in this text. Way better than many games out there who claim to be pvp combat oriented. Way better than ESO, wow, wurm, albion etc.
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
Idk I play just about every game from every genre and imo crowfall is pretty solid. Sure the leveling tutorial is long and off putting, and yeah it has a ways to go systems wise, optimization, polish, etc., but the bones are good. It is a very niche game because frankly most of you are care bears and can't handle full loot hardcore pvp, so yeah it'll always be a smaller game, but it'll have plenty of diehards that stick with it just as they have these past few years. Should it be f2p? Definitely, but even without it's going to do alright.

Honestly feels like Activision or some other anti-new mmo company paid for this headline.

Maps are too small, not enough content. 40 man groups dominating small areas. RIP
Don't tell @Slapshot1188 this, he thinks there are only groups of 10 - 15 people around.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
also think a lot of people aren't understanding crowd funding. the cost was upfront, Arcraft is now taking in profits. Unlike a publisher routed game as cost of creation is billed after the launch.
3300 people, nothing to sneez at, that is 3294 more people then Age of Conan...
I don’t think You understand Crowfall financing. They raised around 30 million from investors. Not including funds from backers. Those investors want their money back plus a reasonable return on investment. Most of the 3300 people pre-paid for the game and multiple months of VIP. They need a huge influx of new players who buy the game and also hopefully sub.

I want to play Crowfall, but combat is a big thing for me and it has to feel good. Watching videos, it doesn't look great and now I'm reading comments that it doesn't feel great either.
I like the game concept: temporary worlds to wage war in. I played Albion online purely for the large-scale wars in the Black Zones. The organization, strategies, etc really got my blood pumping, I'm getting excited just thinking back on participating. True enough, the combat in Albion is pretty crap imo... but Albion had a lot of players. From what I'm hearing Crowfall is struggling on this front?
Think I'll have to wait for a free weekend on this one unless there's a trial? If I can get my hands on a trial, so I can try before I buy, that'd be great. Otherwise, I reckon I'll just save my money, unless I get a sudden injection of cash into my bank account.
