no one wants care bear

I just looked up a definition of care bear "a nice person who is against violence and disputes".

No one at all wants that !

Everyone Wants hard games, much harder than any crap we've been handed in the past 15 years, especially in an mmorpg.

I've been fighting all of you for years now, because your all under the delusion that this is what is wanted all because developers THINK THEY KNOW BETTER.

It's a delusion by developer that think this attract the largest crowed......Well their all wrong, and to prove it "look at us, we have nothing but crap".
Then what happens ?........ you all beleave it !

We need a cross between EQ1, and Vanguard!!..... But Keep Sony, Daybreak games, Visionary Realms out of it because they suck, if you think about it, none of them can program games. (they were the first)

Developers don't know crap, so stop following their lead !

Ahh, it's throw down Tuesday again, awesome.

Carebear is normally a term associated with gamers who eschew PVP, particularly the FFA , full loot kind.

Gankers love Carebears, is their preferred prey in fact, rare is the day you'll find a group of predators feeding on each other.

    ;)

Being a care bear is about avoiding risks / punishment / general unpleasantness, it has nothing to do with challenge.

As for the difficulty arguement, the absolute truth is that we all want "an achievable challenge". Plenty of psychological studies have shown that we get the most satisfaction and fun when we are challenged......but we still win.

Naturally, designing a game full of achievable challenges when your have a diverse playerbase with different abilities is exceptionally difficult, especially when you consider that each of us will get better over time. How do you design a game which challenges both the complete noob and the 20 year mmo veteran?

How many successful games have you created yet, that we don't know about, since you seem to know better than professional developers ? Please share, we all want to play those hidden gems.

And reminder... your favorite MMORPG, vanilla WoW, is totally carebear...

Oddly enough, I knew it was a delete post just by reading the title before clicking on it.

And sure enough, it's a delete post through and through with all of your "logic."

Glad to have you back delete.

Still don't agree with anything you say.

Should I add an obligatory "if you can do better by all means please do" or should we just leave this at armchair developing.

Your "we" is a lot smaller than you think it is judging by the piles of money casual friendly games, especially on mobile, make.

roflmao. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Next week we will get another amusingly disjointed and unproductive rant from good ole' delete. When delete leaves for good, I'm outta here as well.

Your rant would have been fine if you had spoken for yourself. Where you went wrong was assuming you speak for everyone-- you don't.

Some people love Stardew Valley and would love a full-blown MMO version of that. Here's a tip for you: that's perfectly acceptable. Other people get to enjoy what makes THEM happy, and you have absolutely no say in the matter.

As for folks joining a game (and especially choosing to pay a monthly fee to be a part of it) while whining about how "the game sucks" are just pointless couch potatoes with absolutely no life, determined to ruin someone else's fun due to their own lack of joy in life. My advice: pay them no mind. You are not obligated to make someone else's misery your own.

The bottom line: if something brings you joy without having to steal that joy from someone else, then you're doing it right... regardless of what you're doing: playing games, reading books, watching TV, whatever.

There are a lot of caveats as to why things in general succeed, but usually the biggest one is competition. I understand that people like to tout WoW as the biggest mmorpg in history at any point in time (I believe WotLK was the peak at 12M but someone can correct me if I am wrong). When taking a deeper dive and seeing who they were up against, its not really surprising. As many have elluded to in the past, the wow of then could not be the wow in this day and time, with a large part of that being there's just too many things tugging at people but the one constant being that there's no more than 24 hours in a day. I'd like to think that as many people get older, their time gets more focused on what they want to do with it since they have less of it.

One thing we need to consider Delete, is how many gamers are left in gaming. Our hobbies demographic has radically changed and why is that?

The population of "gamers" has ballooned, 1.99 Billion in 2015, 2.95 Billion in 2022. Where have all these players come from? Does anyone think that a 20 year old in 2015 had never heard of gaming and now he is 27 he suddenly wants to play?

No, the population has increased by appealing to the widest possible demographic and by appealing to a platform not designed for games, the mobile market. So how many real gamers are left, ones that want something harder, more in depth, a world not a dip in pastime?

Well before Dead Souls the only diehards left were nearly all in FPS and not all of them, Destiny is not a proper shooter, BF is. DS gave me hope there were players out there who wanted more, but are enough out there that want to play the sort of MMORPG we are talking about? Yes, if it is a small affair, but if it needs a large player base even a AA could struggle to get the player base it needs, as for AAA forget it.

Should developers make a game according to their vision? Even if it isn't aimed at the biggest market?

Or should they try to make a game that will appeal to the largest audience, and therefore make the most money?

All artists have the same dilemma. Should the band keep writing songs that are popular? Or should they grow into new areas even if the new music isn't as popular?
