I bet this mmo is going to be like all the other "New MMO" games. Hot trash. No more is the complex weaving of skills to take down an opponent in 10 different ways, the time of the lazy button masher is here. The time of the mobile mmos is here. The time of basic attack, heavy attack, block, and dodge being your only combat moves is here. MMOs that are coming out dont have 20-30 hotbar skills, its just 10 skills and below. Lazy. They need to copy Black Desert for combat.

Anyway, this is likely so far off it isn't funny. If I'm still alive, and if my gaming interests and ability still match, then I'd be down to check it. I liked my time in New World and definitely felt like I got the value out of it.

Yes I know I just skimped on the details as it not really relevant thus my, "or w/e" part.
Main thing is sounded somewhat interesting at first but after it got canned experience with New World tells me that was probably for the best considering some of the choices ags makes and thier seemingly overall design philosophy.

Guys the rules state we need to try to avoid political commentary as much as possible. Also, if you enter a slanging match (not there yet) that makes it more likely that your post becomes one which may ban you.
It is near impossible to not have some political comment as everything is now politicised, but if you go on and on don't be surprised if you get banned.
I would love to see the Orcs and all the evil side of things be playable. I would love there to be a deep PvP side of the game so I could PvP player Orcs. But this is Amazon and if they do all the things I love, I will just get even more upset when they mess them up.
The biggest issues I have with New World are PvP related. Exploits, bugs, glitches and even things like Duping are magnified by PvP.
So while I really enjoy PvP, I think the best chance for this game to succeed is to stick to PvE and skip all that.

this a game just "set" in the Tolkien universe? Or a game that actually
is about the Return of the King and the destruction of the One Ring?
In the article a Embracer spokesperson mentions 'those beloved stories from the Hobbit and LotR'.
The thing is I'm pretty sure this license is the exact same as the one Leyou got / had when Amazon partnered with them which means access to the Hobbit, LotR AND the APPENDIXES. Which would allow Amazon to mine the Appendixes to create their own story and / or visit the 2nd Age.
Of course a 2nd Age game might be for the best as it wouldn't be a direct competitor of LotRO.

Being made inhouse by the team that made New World...does not feel very encouraging to me.
I wish said NW team would finish their original game first but it's becoming pretty clear that title will be moving into seasonal pass maintenance mode going forward, even more so with this announcement.
Also, while it's very questionable how much talent the NW team actually has, you can bet whatever there is will be reassigned to the new project while the the 2nd string and new hires are left to deal with the BAU work.
