I will openly admit that WoW really isnt that great, however for the time being it is the most fun MMO out there all criteria considered. FFXI's community was poor at best, EQ2 is just now realizing that you need PvP these days. I can play entire games of NCAA 07 whilst traveling in EVE. For the sake of following format I can put it like this.
1. WoW has the best active PvP out there (even is DAOC in its hayday was better)
2. WoW is accessible and easy from 1-59 until you see WoW's flaw, or as others call it "the end game", or more specifically the end game PvP
3. Lack of quality competition at the time. Age of Conan got pushed back. Warhammer Online is a ways out. The more I read about Vanguard the more I think it will fail. Fury is along way away. Most other MMO out right now have some sort of fatal flaw. EQ progressive servers are inching closer to luclin at which point the game will suck again.
1.) Beautiful, diverse, appealing, interesting world... love the color, graphics, animations. Horses jump, water splashes, characters have unusual emote reactions... ie: each race with a different /dance.
2.) I can get online and play the game for 15 hours or 15 minutes. Doesn't have to be any long, drawn out episode to have fun.
3.) Interesting and appealing quests... a variety of simple and more indepth questlines.
4.) Factions, faction rewards, pvp, unusual and fun items in the game.
5.) Fun factor is huge. Blizzard didn't go overboard with the bs... corpse runs, mandatory grouping, reliability on other players to make or break your game experience. Solo, solo, solo content. The devs also have a very entertaining sense of humor... notice NPC names and quest verbiage.
6.) The ability to have several alts... each character has a little bit different feel. Tauren, orc, elf, gnome... each race feels a little bit different even if they're from the same class.
7.) Other than lag spikes, I don't find the game to be buggy at all. Blizz did an excellent job compared to many other games out there when it comes to bug fixing. Broken quests? Can't name one.
Play on a PVE server if you don't like immature 10 year old ganking you. There the pvp is consensual and adults seem to have more fun working on their pvp skills than corpse or graveyard camping. I have 2 60s, 52, 49, 41 and I have played since beta, and still love the game. I love other games too... but I think WoW is an incredible game.

I played WoW for several months. It is a good, solid, if not simple game all around.
The graphics are cartoony, but vivid. The mechanics are simple but they work. The community is huge, so there's hardly any trouble finding groups.
However, like ALL MMO's. It lacks immersiveness, it's a raid oriented game, it gets repetative and there is little to do outside of combat. Just like all MMO's...
I like the game very much, and to each his own tases. I hate games like RF Online and Final Fantasy XI. If you like the other Blizzard games you will love WoW. With the ep comming out some of the problems will be fixed, It is deffently worth a try.
Three good reasons why WoW is better than other MMORPGs:
1. First and formost, Blizzard tests and retests and debugs its products extensively before release. No paying for a beta level game here!!
2. WoW has been out for over 2 years and still has not released its first expansion pack. However, new content is always being added to the game. This makes this game, hands down, a better value than all other games combined.
3. Customer service is awesome!! There are some short sighted people out there that like to say otherwise and complain about some of the problems that Blizzard has had as a result of being overwhelmed by WAY more subscribers than anyone expected them to have!! Blizzard has worked very hard to meet that demand. Hiring new people as quickly as possible and expanding their infrastructure.
And before anyone brings it up, I am not a Blizzard employee, nor do I know anyone that is. How I know all this is I read. I read all the news, reviews, and forums I can. I even read their employment posts, lol. How I wish I had the skills to apply for some of them. The creativity and dedication I see in this company makes me a fan, hands down. But even more than that, I love to play WoW. This game is the most fun I have ever had online!!

It doesnt make sense, what the difference between WoW and another 3d mmorpg, and give me 3 good answers to that other than quests, monsters, classes, and races because those are different in virtually every mmorpg, except for the fact that some 3d mmorpgs other than WoW that are free vary from the normal and give you different races, 3 good reasons WoW is better than any other mmorpg.

WoW was deffinetly fun for the couple months i played till i beat it then i got up to rank 8 in no time. So yeah its fun while it lasts but is so boring when you have nothing to do .....this game is deffinetly for players with little time not for the real gamers!

Well i guess people have there own views and opinions on mmorpgs, yes i have played a few free mmorpgs but you dont get know where near as much content and features as a game thats pay to play, i play wow because ive played everygame and didnt get the feel from a Mmorpg that i wanted, when i play wow, i get the mmorpg feeling that i want, and i enjoy the game and the monthly charge is worth paying for the enjoyment that im getting, so thats my opinion

Actually it came out(aka released) in the tail end of 2004 so its not even 2 years .But to me one of the major drawbacks of this game is the slow pace of adding content.
I dunno how many mmorpg you played but this has to be the slowest rate of adding content i seen in my years of playing mmorpg.I left and rejoined WoW twice and unlike other mmorpg which i have left and came backto find floods of content, i found very little added content in wow as compared to other mmorpg i returned to.
So while the only reason to ever play a mmorpg is if you like it ,this point of them been better value as related to added contentand yes counting only the free added content not counting the expansions of other mmorpgs) is totally wrong.
Its a polished game and runs smoothly but its nowhere near the top of the ladder for content or adding content.

This will probably not be so much as a problem when the expansion comes out. I think it's Blizzard's objective to add a solid expansion that will fix a lot of these issues. If you get pvp working, which currently it's not, then you can give players a reason to play while not worrying about time investment in order to be effective. I think Blizzard will take WOW to the traditional battlenet feel of quick battles, instant friends, see ya later never have to talk to you again 30 minutes of joy everyday. (hopefully)
WoW is the only MMORPG that I have ever really liked. I have tried Eve, Maple Story, Silkroad, ROSE online, Anarchy Online, Trickster, etc. I dunno why WoW is better, but it just is. I have found all other MMORPGs really boring.

From what Ive heard, thats the biggest problem, 7 year olds who spend their life on the computer playing WoW so they can PvP people and then graveyard camp, so from what Ive heard(note that so nobody thinks this is an opinion) they should make the combat system harder for little kids to understand, of course teens are no more mature and do the same thing. (See my post about popularity, if you can find it, because Im not going into detail again.

Sorry Sir but this is my topic, and I get annoyed when people dont think that they are doing anything wrong when they really are, Im annoyed enough as it is when people insult me because they havent read the whole story only half of it, its like the media, they only give you a small fraction of the truth not the whole thing. Getting this back on topic after all of the Sir stuff I will give you a revised version of the original question:
Please can people give me 3 good reasons why they like WoW so much. Why they are so obsessed. There are plenty of other free games out there and I realize that people like it because they have more fun with it than other mmorpgs but what reasons are those.
There and hopefully saying sorry about geting off topic a bit will help. Because forgivness never hurts

I will openly admit that WoW really isnt that great, however for the time being it is the most fun MMO out there all criteria considered. FFXI's community was poor at best, EQ2 is just now realizing that you need PvP these days. I can play entire games of NCAA 07 whilst traveling in EVE. For the sake of following format I can put it like this.
1. WoW has the best active PvP out there (even is DAOC in its hayday was better)
2. WoW is accessible and easy from 1-59 until you see WoW's flaw, or as others call it "the end game", or more specifically the end game PvP
3. Lack of quality competition at the time. Age of Conan got pushed back. Warhammer Online is a ways out. The more I read about Vanguard the more I think it will fail. Fury is along way away. Most other MMO out right now have some sort of fatal flaw. EQ progressive servers are inching closer to luclin at which point the game will suck again.
Now off to stare at my countdown clock for AoC!
1.) Beautiful, diverse, appealing, interesting world... love the color, graphics, animations. Horses jump, water splashes, characters have unusual emote reactions... ie: each race with a different /dance.
2.) I can get online and play the game for 15 hours or 15 minutes. Doesn't have to be any long, drawn out episode to have fun.
3.) Interesting and appealing quests... a variety of simple and more indepth questlines.
4.) Factions, faction rewards, pvp, unusual and fun items in the game.
5.) Fun factor is huge. Blizzard didn't go overboard with the bs... corpse runs, mandatory grouping, reliability on other players to make or break your game experience. Solo, solo, solo content. The devs also have a very entertaining sense of humor... notice NPC names and quest verbiage.
6.) The ability to have several alts... each character has a little bit different feel. Tauren, orc, elf, gnome... each race feels a little bit different even if they're from the same class.
7.) Other than lag spikes, I don't find the game to be buggy at all. Blizz did an excellent job compared to many other games out there when it comes to bug fixing. Broken quests? Can't name one.
Play on a PVE server if you don't like immature 10 year old ganking you. There the pvp is consensual and adults seem to have more fun working on their pvp skills than corpse or graveyard camping. I have 2 60s, 52, 49, 41 and I have played since beta, and still love the game. I love other games too... but I think WoW is an incredible game.
No bitchers.
To me WoW was the easiest to learn how to play. It is pretty simple to figure out combat, spell casting, moving around, etc.
2) Largest subscription base.
6.5+ million people served daily.
3) Soloability from 1-60.
I have yet to play a MMO that allows you to solo to max level so easily.

People enjoy playing the game that makes every other point moot.
I played WoW for several months. It is a good, solid, if not simple game all around.
The graphics are cartoony, but vivid. The mechanics are simple but they work. The community is huge, so there's hardly any trouble finding groups.
However, like ALL MMO's. It lacks immersiveness, it's a raid oriented game, it gets repetative and there is little to do outside of combat. Just like all MMO's...

Three good reasons why WoW is better than other MMORPGs:
1. First and formost, Blizzard tests and retests and debugs its products extensively before release. No paying for a beta level game here!!
2. WoW has been out for over 2 years and still has not released its first expansion pack. However, new content is always being added to the game. This makes this game, hands down, a better value than all other games combined.
3. Customer service is awesome!! There are some short sighted people out there that like to say otherwise and complain about some of the problems that Blizzard has had as a result of being overwhelmed by WAY more subscribers than anyone expected them to have!! Blizzard has worked very hard to meet that demand. Hiring new people as quickly as possible and expanding their infrastructure.
And before anyone brings it up, I am not a Blizzard employee, nor do I know anyone that is. How I know all this is I read. I read all the news, reviews, and forums I can. I even read their employment posts, lol. How I wish I had the skills to apply for some of them. The creativity and dedication I see in this company makes me a fan, hands down. But even more than that, I love to play WoW. This game is the most fun I have ever had online!!

Actually it came out(aka released) in the tail end of 2004 so its not even 2 years .But to me one of the major drawbacks of this game is the slow pace of adding content.
I dunno how many mmorpg you played but this has to be the slowest rate of adding content i seen in my years of playing mmorpg.I left and rejoined WoW twice and unlike other mmorpg which i have left and came backto find floods of content, i found very little added content in wow as compared to other mmorpg i returned to.
So while the only reason to ever play a mmorpg is if you like it ,this point of them been better value as related to added contentand yes counting only the free added content not counting the expansions of other mmorpgs) is totally wrong.
Its a polished game and runs smoothly but its nowhere near the top of the ladder for content or adding content.

This will probably not be so much as a problem when the expansion comes out. I think it's Blizzard's objective to add a solid expansion that will fix a lot of these issues.
If you get pvp working, which currently it's not, then you can give players a reason to play while not worrying about time investment in order to be effective. I think Blizzard will take WOW to the traditional battlenet feel of quick battles, instant friends, see ya later never have to talk to you again 30 minutes of joy everyday. (hopefully)

And last and most important, Im not flaming WoW, you can read my first sentence 300 times and not find a loophole other than a three year olds stupid comment on how I forgot to add an S to what in the first line of my sentence. Then tell me if I still flamed WoW, because I never said anything about WoW being bad, and I am getting really tired of retyping this same thing over and over I think this is the third time I have had to tell somebody I wasnt flaming WoW.

From what Ive heard, thats the biggest problem, 7 year olds who spend their life on the computer playing WoW so they can PvP people and then graveyard camp, so from what Ive heard(note that so nobody thinks this is an opinion) they should make the combat system harder for little kids to understand, of course teens are no more mature and do the same thing. (See my post about popularity, if you can find it, because Im not going into detail again.

Sorry Sir but this is my topic, and I get annoyed when people dont think that they are doing anything wrong when they really are, Im annoyed enough as it is when people insult me because they havent read the whole story only half of it, its like the media, they only give you a small fraction of the truth not the whole thing. Getting this back on topic after all of the Sir stuff I will give you a revised version of the original question:
Please can people give me 3 good reasons why they like WoW so much. Why they are so obsessed. There are plenty of other free games out there and I realize that people like it because they have more fun with it than other mmorpgs but what reasons are those.
There and hopefully saying sorry about geting off topic a bit will help. Because forgivness never hurts
