Weren't some parents pushing for that somewhere? Like, I don't know, in the South, or the MidWest, or something?

I guess in the south they figured, "what the hell, our schools suck anyways."  I mean, how much damage is telling a kid from Alabama that intelligent design exists and evolution doesn't going to do them career wise?  The south isn't exactly known for it's great contributions to this country.

Basically, but it isn't as much of "what the hell, our schools suck" as it is "THE BIBLE SAID SO, SO IT IS! HMMFT!"  Of course the ones that are most outspoken about it are the ones that seem to be lacking IQ points..

I saw this statistic a few months ago on a website.  It showed the intelligence level of different religious groups.  It showed that Christians were towards the bottom.  And not only did the story say that, but it said that American's consider themselves to be the most religious yet know the least about their religious doctrines than other countries.  I guess that's why they remain so religious.  The more you learn about the Bible the more you're prone to realize that it's an ancient text that has been outgrown socially.

I guess there was one saving grace for the Christians.  The Muslims were one level below them in intelligence.  Atheists and Agnostics were at the top.  So were the nature religions.

Take that for what it's worth I suppose.  I tried to find the site again, but couldn't.  I will keep looking.

Sounds interesting, but I didn't need a statistic to tell me that (that doesn't mean I don't want you to keep looking for that site :P)

I remember a while ago you posted something about what countries believed the most in creationism and us was all the way at the bottom, I went and looked at the IQ averages for those countries that believed the most in evolution and they had the highest IQs

A website that 'supposedly' exists that purports to have some inane study that says christians have lower IQs than athiests? That's entirely retarded.

    I'm Christian and I have a 180 IQ. That's fact.

More than likely this website was created by athiests, for athiests, with a study done by athiests. It's like me finding a website that says 90% of non-Christians are going to hell. It's just not a valid point to make.

But lets say for arguments sake that this inane report is true. That doesn't actually prove anything either way, because christianity is more readiy available to everyone. How many low-IQ people do you think are exposed to Asatru or Wicca or any other non-standard religion? It's like saying people with computers know more about the internet. It's like saying people who have graduated from university know more about greek philosophy.

It can in no way shape or form be taken as an actual fact because it's misleading information connecting two unrelated things.

Shame on you for trying to use misleading information and irrelevent connections in your trickery to try and rail against Christianity.

It is physically painful! I swear, I've never seen the words "Church", "Hell", "God", or "Devil" written this frequently in my life.
I mean, seriously, can't I just say that it's offensive to my beliefs and be done with it? I mean, my science teacher had to give some ridiculous speech before we watched a video in there, all so we wouldn't offend the Christians. It's disgusting, because if you're following a religion, they have to bend things so as not to offend you, but if you're an athiest, they don't give a damn. I'm so sick of this double standard. I could deal with reading this damn book if so many Christians didn't bitch and moan about how Evolution's taught in schools.
The fact that all schools are willing to say "Well, evolution's just a theory. You don't have to accept it as truth." only serves to discredit evolution in the public's mind, without showing a thread of evidence against it. Whereas if I, or anyone else for that matter, were to bitch about religion, half the teachers would just stare me down like the wanted to wait until the sun went down, then slit my throat.
Ok, so don't get all pissy at me: This thread isn't about whether or not religions hold true, or whether or not evolution's true. It's about this damn double standard. I'm so fucking sick of it.

I'm glad I don't have to read that book untill next semester.  Yeah, the double standard thing is bull shit.  I think I said this before in the forums, but at school we are not allowed to bring or wear anything that could be considered "satanic" to school, such as the satanic bible or pentagrams or even wear shirts that people might think is demonic but is just artwork.  But of course it doesn't go the other way, you can wear shirts that say jesus on them and bring the bible to school, it sickens me.  Now, don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly fine with people bringing religious things to school, but to ban other people from bringing their religious things to school, just because it disagrees with your beliefs is wrong.

Im suppose to read that to right away like next week. im kind of religious tho so it might not bother me. and man, the fact that u wanna bring satanic things to school makes me sick lol. i mean it may sicken u cause u worship the devil and most people arent into that. but it sickens me to hear u say that. satan is a bitch. i wanna fight the fucker. i mean, who's side would u rather be on. satan, or the one that created him? the one that created him. plus the good side owwwns.... although im not sure if u meant u worship the devil or u just dont like it that ur school doesnt let people who do wear there shit. good for ur dang school

Well, nobody said they worshipped Satan, they just said that their school doesn't allow it. I'm not even going to respond to the rest of the post... -.-

I care to bring satanic things to school, I was just showing that there is a double standard at school. By the way, what most people consider satanic symbols are just pagan symbols and don't have any satanic meanings behind them.  And you, as many other people don't know much about satanism...

Wow .. that's interesting.. I also saw a statistic on a website that said that 80% of atheists are inbred..... And have psycological problems.... And mental disabilities... and their penis is only half the size of a religious person

What I have to say about this is... Firstly... That is one of the most retarded "statistics" i've ever heard....
secondly ...<sarcasm>Good thing I can tell how smart someone is by giving them an IQ test... <sarcasm>
thridly 95% of all statistics are made up anyways..

You do realize not all Christians have an IQ of 180 yes?

Shame on you for thinking so stupidly!

I highly doubt they only did the study on afew from each Religion. More like hundreds, maybe thousands is more like it. After all, everyone is going to have a different IQ, thus affecting the results in the long run.

Ugh... I wasn't saying that the book alone made it a double standard. I was saying that one exists, in general, within the school system. It's like it doesn't even matter how many times I say this. *sigh*

I will admit, though, that my wording in the original post was... questionable at best.

So do you suggest that schools teach children that evolution and the big bang are absolute truth?..
And by the way people bitch all day about religion... For example... kids cant pray outloud in some public schools because apparently that is infringing on atheist rights...

No, kids are allowed to pray out loud anywhere. Of course they aren't allowed to interupt the class to do so, but they aren't banned from it.  What was banned was schools forcing kids to pray everyday.  Big difference.

Oh, and about evolution and the big bang, teachers do not teach it as absolute truth, actually they make sure to state that it is just a theory about a thousand times so religious people don't get mad.

Kids have gotten disciplinary action for praying in school. And they only banned PUBLIC (government) schools from forcing prayer.

And teachers don't care what parents think, when the parents went to massachusettes court because 1st and 2nd graders were learning about homosexuality, the courts told them they had no right to say what was in education. <---- that really gets religious people mad (Bill O' Reilly "Culture Warrior)

Yeah, and I bet that they were getting up in the middle of class and praying loudly in class during a test.  And yeah, no crap that they banned it only in public schools, because the government doesn't control private education.

The courts don't care, but teachers try to avoid conflict with parents.  They can lose there jobs over things such as this.  And so what if 1st and 2nd graders were learning about homosexuality, those people are complete and udder idiots for taking it to court.  About Bill O'Reilly, I don't give a damn if he is angered about anything, he is a complete and udder dick.

It's like saying people who have graduated from university know more about greek philosophy.

It can in no way shape or form be taken as an actual fact because it's misleading information connecting two unrelated things.

Shame on you for trying to use misleading information and irrelevent connections in your trickery to try and rail against Christianity.

You claim to have the same IQ as Albert Einstein...thats believable.

I hope some day we can all put aside our racisms and prejudices and just laugh at people

Yeah cause it's gotta be true if it was on a website.

Go compare them yourself before denying it just because it was on some website.

Someone with an IQ of 180 cant spell "atheist."

Whereas if I, or anyone else for that matter, were to bitch about religion, half the teachers would just stare me down like the wanted to wait until the sun went down, then slit my throat.

You've got it all wrong, when these parents pay taxes that go to these schools and their salaries, they've got every right to go to the courts that they pay for. And especially since it was a majority of parents that was shut down, its complete and UTTER *Not COW UDDER* BULLCRAP. The immoral arent moral.

Modjoe, you've really gone downhill. Correcting people on spelling mistakes?

I think we need to put you in the forum retirement home.
