So, a friend gave me an idea...

A friend in San Diego & I talked last night, and I asked them to check on something with another friend of theirs... I think our donations would be better to do this, then giving it to an EMU team...

There's a blank Billboard about 200 feet from the front of LA headquarters, and several Billboard spaces available near the SOE entrance (I'm not sure about Austin, but asked a friend to check)... for about $2600 someone could rent them both for quit a while, saying something like...

The NGE $#&%@...

BRING BACK PRE-CU!!!

I think that may make our feelings understood...

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

    the problem is not renting it. do you know how much it cost to make NGE SUCKS..etc etc.... 200 feet long?

    do some research on that...

    but you had good idea but the price range is a bit far off what you expect.

    I think that it's covered in the contract with the billboard agency.  I think they cover the artwork, and charge a small setup. 

    BTW- MX13 - I'm serious as a heartattack, about contributing.

    I think we stil ahve to work on what goes on the actual boards though.

    I've rented Billboards... they have printng companies either associated with them, or a printer... it's actually pretty easy to do, or did you think "Mary will you marry me?" was hand painted?

    $2600 should cover printing (Black on White being the cheapest, depending on technique) & rental for at least 3 months, based on what I could find online for San Diego... it actual may be much cheaper (since I don't know the area's rate, or the boards position) and that much could cover up to 6 months... or we could raise $50k and put those signs on the side of every city bus & bus stop for 3 months...

    A lot of billboards will allow you to spraypaint your message on there as long as you pay for the rent...Then all you have to do is tack up the poster paper on the board and paint the message.
    There are a couple billboards near my hometown that are like that...They look pretty DIY but people see it.
    In fact, I think it makes more people look because it looks like graffitti.

    I'm looking at what it would take to set up a donation Website and I'm looking into the company that owns those boards... if it looks possible, we may have a go here, lol...

    Depending on the size and rating for the boards, it may not be much... or it could be a ton...

    find a billboard thats right outside Smedleys office..as in SMACK in the middle of his once so nice view....

    OK, having an issue finding the company who owns the nearest Billboard to their front door (being that I'm 2k miles away). I can find companies with sites near their address, but I'm not sure if they are viewable... anyone here that lives in the San Diego area that could drive by and write down the company info (usually on the Billboard or near it) would be a huge help. I'll ask my friend about the one near LA and see if they can find anything...

    So can you put the  "SOE" in there as well with a big arrow pointing at them? Someone take a snap shot of this billboard or draw a circle of it on a Sat photo so we know exactly how it is situated.

    ROFL... that's a good idea... does anyone here have an acount for a Sat site? If you put in the address for LA, you should be able to see it as a line in front of the building...

    Greatest.  Idea.  Ever.

    I remember back when the CU hit an online petion got tens of thousands of signatures.   If you can even get 200 people to each donate 10-20 bucks your set.

    This is one hell of an idea, and I would certainly contribute to it.  If we all just sent in what we used to pay for SWG and currently aren't, we'd raise the cash, at least enough to run a billboard in one of the locations.

    I suggest a slightly less inflammatory message though.  Such as:

    If you Pre-CU it
    We will come
    Signed: 200,000 former SWG vets

    They don't exactly charge us by the word... do both.

    The NGE was a complete failure.

    Give us pre-CU servers

    If you build it, we will come.

    If we can get this off the ground, we'll do a poll for what it should say. Honestly folks, we could really use some help IN San Diego. It's one thing to be pretty sure where the BB is, it's another to be there and see it. If we can't get someone there on-ground, it may mean a trip is needed, which could slow it down and increase the cost. The last thing I'd want is to get this going, then have the BB facing the other way...

    I have a contact in SD, but they didn't seem to pleased when I asked if they could help me get more info & spot the sights, lol...

    Just a side note all: Any message would need to be short, family-friendly & not use any copywrited terms (like Star Wars or Galaxies)...

    I would suggest that if a website is set up, have the billboard refer to that website.  On the site (since you can then add much more than the billboard would allow), you can go into a detail listing of past questionable ethic choices made by SOE.

    The Billboard should contain a line that will make people curious as to what it is refering to so that they will seek answers at the website.
