I'm guessing it'll go something like this:

    - I enjoy the game why would i?

    - I'm using this game to play while i wait for something new

    - I'll give Vanguard a try

Let me see, I hate PvP, why would I play a PvP centered game?

  • ShadrakShadrak Member Posts: 375

Vanguard is NOT a pvp centered game. I thought so to  but I was wrong.

Will you be able to sub to Vanguard though SOEs’ station access?

How about a 5th choice that reads "No i dont play or use any product made from sony, nor will I ever".

  • MoiraeMoirae Member RarePosts: 3,318
Ridiculous to choose not to play any game from a company. Each game is different and bad devs on one game doesn't equal bad devs on another game.

Although I am not currently playing EQ2, I plan to switch to Vanguard.

Oh! And, I'm also an ex-SW:G, pre-CU advocate that cancelled all 8 (yeah. yeah - I know!) of my and my fiance's accounts after trying the NGE and considering it to much of a change from what we liked of the game pre-CU.  But, There are to many features in Vanguard that we find tempting to pass it by so we will at least try it.  Who knows? If we like it, perhaps SOE will get our 8 accounts back. [shrugs]  Time will tell.

Doubtful for myself. I lost respect for the Vanguard project long ago, sure EQ2 was horrible on release but at least the dev's knew it and made efforts to improve on that.

V:SoH just seems like a re-vamping of tired ideas. Although what do I know, it's quite possible it will be an absolute blast at which point if I hear good things, I'll certainly give it a shot.

Go back and get your facts right before you post. SOE have not purchased Vanguard. Sigil have purchased Vanguard. How many times does this have to be said? SOEs 'noob devs' will not get their 'paws' on Vanguard because they have no role in making the game. do some homework befor you run you mouth vangurad is a sigil game.

Hey freak out boy! Not a single person in this thread has said that SOE bought Vanguard. What people have said is that it will be available on SOE's all access plan, which it will be.

And SOE will get their grubby hands on it sorry to say, they are publishing the game, shipping the game and also providing support for the game and the servers. I don't know about you but it's pretty damn hard to code anything for a games servers without actually getting into the game and it's pretty hard for support personel to support a game they've never seen or played... so yeah Vanguard is going to have SOE ALLLLLLLLLLLL over it.

So.... maybe you should go back and get your fact right?

Still...they only have the publishing rights to it. As for the general work on the game its all Sigil. Unilt probably of course if it becomes a money maker then they'll most likely buy it all from Sigil. There are those however that don't want anything to do with a SoE product. Weather they only own the game 50% or 100% If SoE is involved, some people just won't touch it.

I myself will give it time. I've never baught a MMORPG when it first came out, and I won't start now. I'll probably wait a few months before I decide to get it or not.

He was 100% correct in that SoE has no rights to the code of the game or direction the game takes.  Also, you do realize developers can add features for a support site without the support site actually writing the code yeah? Support people can support the game without having access to the code.

Your speculation about SoE buying them is just that, speculation and not a fact.

So before you tell him to get his facts straight perhaps you should take your own advice.

There is alot of people that wont touch any game with SOE on the label (which they will be). Its also on their station pass.

It took alot of work for sony to earn this "Bad rep", they (sigil) made a bad decision going with sony if they wanted a popular game. What they'll get instead is another EQ2 rehash that if popular (unlikely) will be sold to sony, and if unpopular (most likely) everyone will jump ship (sigil) and sell to sony (like matrix) within the first year....

Im not miss cleo but i predict sony will 100% own vanguard within the first 24 months.

take this as you will.. the best thing that could possibly happen to vanguard is for SOE to get involved with the development.  Especially if they put the same people who have become involved with EQ2 lately.

have you ever been involved with a game and then asked yourself why the game was even made?  something so redundant, and unoriginal it leaves you boggled as to why it was being made and what it offered that other games have already perfected?  I'll just say, im sure theres other who will read this and understand exactly what im getting at.

if you like everquest 2, you wont play vanguard long if at all.

You forgot to add "but I do peruse their games forums hoping to bait someone."

No will not go to vanguard, sure ill try it out but the days of raid, grind, raid, grind, raid, grind are nearing the end with me.

These games, all of them, are losing their one attraction ........... the fantasy world come alive.  Now its get out your calculator and find what gear and aa's you need before you go to zone x.

When a game comes out that brings the fantasy alive, rewards skill over mass killing something, then ill get interested again.  As of right now with eq2 or wow, i almost feel im doing paper work with gfx.

Also for those tuanting how the devs cared and changed eq2 for the better .................... alot of work went into that by the players.  The devs merely changed black to white, the players feedback is what changed the game, and im sure the pressure of many lost accounts.  Eq1 a game that is what 7 or 8 years old now, holds more active accounts then eq2.  There are problems with eq2, go and look at alot of there dev teams previous jobs, might notice very little if any at all work expirience in game developement, much less MMO genre.

You huh? Man, you're doing far too much work. If you're losing enjoyment of the game, you're doing it to yourself. No ones doing it to you. You've turned it into work instead of just enjoying the game for what it is.
  • lillinlillin Member Posts: 207

Ill bite, what is this enjoyment you speak of.  Explain in full detail please so i can understand your perspective.

Let me guess on a few really fast ........... the wonderful community of people to enjoy time with.  Ill get on later and show you that wonderful community with chat logs of filth.  I'll even let ya pick one, say group, raid, ooc, level channels, what ever.

Every single one of my friends has quit eq2.  Thats around fifty people that i talked and played with daily.  Now an even larger number of nice/mature players i knew are no longer around as well ............

Ok hmm next would probally be the hours of gameplay.  Why yes i get such satisfaction from killing mob x a 1000 times to level, finish a quest, writ, what ever.  Fun game design at its fullest i can assure you.  There is maybe a handful of quest that actually are interesting lore wise and gameplay wise ......... this handful of quest in a game called EVERQUEST.  I think the title thrown around of EverGrind is more fitting.

This whole game is static, that means nothing changes.  Mobs dont roam off thier rails, things are just stagnant across the lands.  No gm events to mix things up from time to time.  Live events are usually more kill x mobs or fedex this for you new in house item.  The haunted house of last year was the only decent one, maybe the xmas event if you ignored some of the repeat static things.

Just as some say there are tons of people joining such and such game, an even larger number has left eq2.  They tried to name drop off eq1, made the model art " prettier " and totally disregarding what is fun.  This isnt a game this is a hack job to pull a few more bucks out of the " eww pretty pictures" crowd.

lol. I have friends that play the game too and are still having fun. You're wrong. Maybe it's just the people you associate with. I happen to like the game just fine.

If you don't like it, then happily go elsewhere.

  • lillinlillin Member Posts: 207

Nice intuitive, detailed description moirae. KK im wrong as you say in my point of view, what makes yours general right, i still see no details of what you find fun.  Is watching the begining movie over and over fun to you?  Is going online and sitting in antonica begging for coin fun to you?

So how exactly was i wrong?

  • MoiraeMoirae Member RarePosts: 3,318

Same movie? You do know you can just skip the movie right? You just left click the mouse once and it goes right through it. Keep left clicking the mouse and you move past the logo's too so you don't have to look at them.

Why were you begging for coin in Antonica? I have a level 8 Monk and over 24 gold already because I harvested and sold the rares I wasn't going to use on the broker. I've never had to beg for coin.

Seems clear to me that you haven't really played the game when you don't know such basic things about it. Did you simply grind a character up to level 20 or so or did you actually play the game and reroll if that specific character wasn't interesting to you?

Now tell me again how you and your friends know better than anyone else out there.
